Just some advice, try as best you can to stay about 2 feet away, i started over a black base so covered fairly quick. When you get near the bottom of the can just stop, don't try and get every little drop out, it will start to sputter and only shoot out black paint, also, they don't like to spray well on horizontal panels, roofs, hoods, so spray those surfaces with a fresh can and it will work out better.

If you haven't used turbo can before i would suggest you plan on using maybe at least 1/4 can to practice, this stuff comes out with great force, this is why i say stay about 2 feet away, if you go too close you will get some serious runs!

Plan on roughly $20 a can, best to get through either Walmart or Amazon, home Depot is like $28, and they don't carry this as a regular item, it's just one of those things that when they happen to get some they put it out on the paint counter, the regular gloss and flat are slightly cheaper averaging about $17

If you put the can in hot water for 15 minutes it sprays a hell of a lot better!

Thanks! I honestly think it turned out great! And when i tell people it's spray can their eyes bulge out and jaws drop, it's quite funny, they all have the same face! Good luck! If you can, buy an extra can or 2 just in case you run short, plus you can test more on something else, and if you ever need touch up you will have some left!

It’s about time someone used the bedliner cans. I’m thinking of painting my 87 Chevrolet with the bedliner turbo cans. It’s just a daily driver so I’m not going for show quality. I would just hate to buy a six pack of the primer and then buy a six pack of the gloss black. I’m guessing you really don’t need to use primer with the bedliner stuff.

I've read things where people just used the red scotch brite pads over their original paint with no primer, in the end i used one over freshly painted spray can satin, personally, i think u will b fine as long as u make sure to get it all good, u can even use one along with a degreaser and kill 2 birds with one stone. My only concern with u is the amount of cans ur planning on purchasing, 6 may not b enough, i don't think i would even attempt ur project with less than 8, reality is my truck just has a little more roof than urs and mine took 10 cans, if u start with too few cans u may end up spraying too close in an attempt to get a thicker coverage, or, if u stay the 2 feet away like i did u may not have enough to get the best amount of coats, mine took 3 coats until I felt satisfied. Worse case scenario u have some extra in case u need to touch up or perhaps add something to ur truck, maybe a new bumper, running boards, etc. Whatever u do just don't rush the painting, the prep will take way longer than the paint, even taking ur time it will still only take like 30-45 minutes. And remember, there is gonna b some good over spray so clear the area and cover ground, good luck!

Super glad I found this!!! Can you tell me what kind of prep you did for the front bumper & grill? I also was wondering on the trim side pieces on the doors, did you remove them to paint? How did you prep them? We’re your mirrors chrome and plastic? How did you prep this area? I’m shocked the outcome looks fantastic, I’ve been researching raptor lining my 2002 Toyota Tundra, hence all the questions. One more thing, can you do a close up image to show how it lays down, or how chunky it is please. Thank you so much!!!

So, all the trim pieces are plastic, originally same black paint as truck, bumpers and fenders were gray, i sanded whole truck with 80 grit, then 200, then 600, then with red scotch brite pad which i believe is about 800, i had tried a few different coats of different paints in the process, only using red scotch brite pads in between, been almost a year now and not one issue, and this is a daily driver. I would say the texture would be close to maybe like a 60 grit sandpaper. Didn't remove anything, just taped up windows. Sorry, but I can't figure out how to post a pic on this thread, i tried but apparently I'm too old! Lol!

I also was looking into the raptor liner, unfortunately i couldn't get a straight answer on how many kits it was gonna take, at $100 a kit didn't want to over estimate and not be able to return, or even worse under estimate and have truck half done and realize i needed more. I just can't emphasize enough how much happier you will be if you're patient enough to stay about 2 ft away with this Rust-Oleum, yeah, i could have probably covered this truck with 6 cans, but i guarantee i would never be caught dead driving it, I've seen quite a few now that i find absolutely appalling, you can see the stripes a mile away! Not sure on the size of yours but mine is pretty big, and i put just as much effort on the roof as the rest, i used 10 cans and i probably wouldn't drive it if i only used 9, maybe I'm a little fussy but i feel good driving my truck! I'm proud of the way it turned out, and for $200 plus some sandpaper and tape I'll take that any day!

Yup! Have close to half can left for in case situation. For what it's worth, coming up on a year in a month or so, it's a daily driver, exposed to all the elements Florida has to offer, and still looks exactly the same as day 1!

To be honest, just noticing a little fading on the back, guess due to it being the area that sits facing the afternoon, setting sun. other than that there is absolutely nothing wrong anywhere else, not a scratch, no peeling, nothing! i actually have a can to do touch up, just waiting for weather to cooperate with a day off. will post vids of what I'm seeing, and after i fix!

btw, not that it means much, but, the area fading is the same area that first started with original paint, on sides of rear window.

Can I spray Bed liner without sanding
@golfeasy6713
@golfeasy6713 11 ай бұрын
I'm not a professional, but i would assume that it would be like painting anything, if you don't prepare the surface you run the risk of it peeling and such, I'd say if that's what you're planning on doing i would at least clean the heck out of it with a scouring pad and degreaser, the scouring pads of different colors have different grits so check into that, from what i saw the red one is about an 800 grit, which is what i used to scuff up the regular spray paint i had tried before the bed liner. think the green is rougher and gray is finer but don't hold me to that! you should probably do your best to get rid of any clear coat, good luck

I love the way it looks. Is sanding and painting primer necessary?
@golfeasy6713
@golfeasy6713 Жыл бұрын
Well, guess it would depend on the condition of your paint, i actually went over a satin paint just using a red scotch pad, i did sand prior to that but have heard of many people simply doing this, if it were me, i would just save some time and labor by using the red pad with a wax and grease remover, then maybe wipe down just prior to paint with the can type window cleaner. The good part about the red pad is it's easy enough to get those hard to reach places, and i believe it's like a 6 or 800 grit. My thoughts are your not spray painting a show car so why go nuts!

I would say go over those areas again, this time make sure to stay a little farther away, maybe move a little faster, and remember those cans don't really seem to spray very well while turned horizontal, it's ok with a new can but only for like 1/4 of the can. If i had to guess you may have noticed this too and in response started holding can vertical, problem with doing horizontal surfaces with a vertical can is the paint that comes out the bottom side of nozzle will land 1st, causing it to be thicker along the bottom part of line and more aerated at the top. If it were me, i would take some red scrub pad to it just to sort of scruff it up some and hit it again, making sure to only go horizontal with a fresh can for a few strokes, and also make sure your staying further away and probably moving a little faster, think of just trying to feather it on, or a dusting. This will require a few more passes but it's the only way I've found to work for me. Not sure if this explanation will come across well or not but i will try and make a short video to show you what i mean.
