I used to drive a short-nosed Brock like that in the early 70s . Cummins engine hooked to a ten speed Roadranger transmixer. I pulled a 25 or 30 foot pup doing city delivery work. It was great for that because of the short tractor., and I loved that truck.

A truck repair shop near me had a mid 70's Brockway tractor that you could rent while your truck was being repaired. Big sign on the dash "POSITIVE GROUND SYSTEM, DO NOT CONNECT YOUR CB RADIO". I wonder how many got fried.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 I had never heard that about Brockway trucks. I knew companies made the positive ground in the 50s & before, for my REO has it. I hate it! Thanks for sharing the info. Blessings 🥰✌️

My older brother bought a new 258 single axle with an integral sleeper with a 220 in 1958. It was originally ordered for a Pgh. company called Debolt Transfer and they cancelled the order. He bought it from Brockway of Pittsburgh. He used it until 1968 and sold it to a horse hauler in New Jersey. It was very hard to even change oil. Love your channel. Bill

A very interesting story of truck 🚛 history in America. I lost my older brother back in 2007 in a truck accident. Cheers from Australia.

Wait till you have to torque the head bolts in heads 2 and 3. We’re talking 600 ft lbs on a 220. Done lots in White’s and International Loadstars back in the day. At least you can unbolt the front fenders. Ya, think about us old guys. If I had known in my younger days I was going to spend so much time on my back with my legs wrapped around crossmembers, and drivelines I’d have opted for a sex change and made some real money at it 😂

I remember well my dad working on them, and of course I followed his footsteps. I do not miss working on them. This cab is beyond fixing. You might save all the paint chips and re solidify it for a original paint or any combination of nostalgia. I see it as it is as a running time piece that if loved should just be parked and saved for someone to gaze at. There are some nice ones that are refurbished as restored is kind of impossible to manage and that means having a pocket book with no limits. There are museums with some of them in them. Cut the loss and just enjoy as it is for you will bleed to death in fixing it.

Ford stole the idea from Brockway and that is to Lift the cab to work on them! Great find by the way

Nice old Huskie ! My dad taught me how to drive in a 64 Brockway similar to this back in the early 80’s , longer hood. 220 , 10 speed , single axle . It was a neat rig to drive , and the flame out the stack was awesome , we didn’t roll coal we had fire 🔥 . Thanks

Not all the original Brockway mechanics are gone, but those of us left have lots of aches and pains! Nice rare Brock!

That needs to be made roadworthy my cousin had the newer 358 in a dump truck and I had a uncle who owned 2 Brockway cabovers with 12V71 and 13 speed I think 1969 model year he picked them up in Cortland NY
@karlbishop74815 ай бұрын
My uncle had a Brock, probably in the 50's. I was pretty young then so I don't remember too much. I know it was a single drive axle snd gas powered. I think he hauled for the Schmidt Brewery.

In Crescent PA. Iron city Express/ Iron City Scrap. They used to have some old Brockways and Autocars sitting in their yard. Unfortunately they were just sitting there with weeds all around them wasting away. They still might be in good enough shape to restore or at least get some OEM parts off of.

So the bumper to back of cab is around 92” so it could haul 40’ trailers in states where there was a 50’ overall length limit.

Nice cool rig, in MI they're really rare. I do dig the patina. But i'd first fix all the rust and get it road worthy. Take it too some local shows.

Like working on U cab Macks, or White 9000s only worse. B67s kinda sucked too. I'd be looking at it and wondering if it would be easier to take the cab off before I did an in-chassis.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 This is such a cool truck! I have a friend in Ohio that has one. He was hoping to restore it, as of years ago. Does this truck have positive ground? My 51 REO has it & I hate it. Is your truck 12 volt start or 24 volt? Does it have the kill cable? Maybe it has the compression cable. I’m not sure how all that works. Looks like the floor is well gone, but shouldn’t be too hard to replace, if you have the right tools & take your time. I’m so glad that you saw this truck & decided to save it. I believe they are rare, but it still deserves to be restored or upgraded. This will make you such a nice, head-turning tuck to take to shows! Blessings my friend!🤩🥰✌️
