Looks good, I have a few similar size ones, extremely handy when you just need a small one near the work. Not sure I’d go through the trouble to repaint my big vise as it would just end up looking terrible again in a few weeks

Thanks appreciate the answer, I been trying to read up on paint and durability, weathering and all that. Really confusing. Use to just put a clear coat of Varnish on everything hahah...@@repairrestoration4232

Acabo de comprar uno igual y como se con el paso del tiempo el diseño sigue siendo el mismo...Ahora ya se que hacer si se fuera arruinar 😅😅😅

I don't understand why most of the people that do repair videos do all that work to make it look good just to smear so much bondo on the pieces
@GT_Racer3477 ай бұрын
It simply gives it a smooth look when you can't grind the hell out of it. 👌🤓

When the casting has a lot of defects, it’s easer to put bondo than to fill in the defects with welding. Welding cast iron if not done properly can cause structural damage to the vice, especially a small vice.
@qRESCO7 ай бұрын
bondo is the most cost effective and not all of us have welding machines

Leave the scars on the vice. If anyone uses it, it’s going to chip off.

Nice result. But, please, wear gloves while cold blueing. This stuff is toxic.

Theust washers on the main screw as well as the under the clamp disc would have been a nice design improvement...albeit not a "restoration." And....You nicked the paint with the file !🙄
