Can we quickly jump back to the point where Gertrud leaves the archive a mess to sabotage Elias, but a) fails tremendously and b) gets at least two people killed (including Sasha), because necessary information is found way to late in the chaos

True!! It backfired so bad that it actually helped Elias bring the Eyemageddon/Magnusgeddon/ Jonahgeddon(?). But I wonder though if Jon and the S1 Archives gang end up knew what's up at the beginning how would have the Web and Elias reacted to all this. Someone needs to make a fanfic of this quick 😂
@voidjockey82

There is percisely one thing that brought down all or at least most of Gertrude's efforts, her own eagerness. The Dark is quite antithetical to Beholding and even Jon realised that its influence blocked out his clairvoyance. Gertrude should have tried her hypothesis about all rituals being destined to fail in person, where Elias couldn't have seen her. Then she would have had time until the next ritual to prepare her destruction of the Institute as well as the fail-saves for the next Archivist should she die. But then again, she was a product of her nature as were all the other avatars and beings, it couldn't have ended differently.
@Idran
@Idran Жыл бұрын
@voidjockey82 But Elias already knew she wasn't planning anything for the Dark's ritual; just not being visible the day of wouldn't have changed the weeks prior when she otherwise would've been spending all her time putting plans together

I forgot how much I missed Sasha and just how efficient she was. She basically had no information given to her, but deduced from observation that Gertrude Robinson was up to something and kept the archives in disarray for a reason. Can you imagine how helpful she would have been throughout the series if she hadn't decided to hide in artifact storage during the Jane Prentice incident?

Wow hearing happy Tim really is a blast from the past. They really didn't deserve their Fates ( well I mean none of them did, but they were the focus so...) I find it interesting that the tapes are still recording if WE are the Eye, watching through the tapes, then it wouldn't really make sense if The Eye was everywhere. Obviously this is our way to 'see' and since all of us aren't omnicient Eldritch gods, then the tapes still hold a purpose, but it's interesting none the less.
@miratarnish6316

Now that's an interpretation though. The idea that we're the being from a universe they can never see into, that can somehow see everything everyone does, that we compell Jon (both the VA and character) to keep recording the tapes and letting us see into their world, and wish drama upon them.

@@biancamlf288 this... opens a whole new view on the notThem. What makes they exist. What calls them. The person who remembers the real person seems to be the one that have a complicated relationship (the daughter who had a "never enough" mother, the guy with the not friendly cousin), as if the Stranger was not able to mimic the complexity of it. I thought that the one who remembers seems to be the "creator"/victim of the fear. Maybe because deep down they urge for a better version of that people? (Seems like a monkey paw deal, now thinking about it). Sasha's case seems to be kinda unique, but I'm wondering how would fit in this, and now that you said that, wondering if I got it wrong. NotSasha being "called" by the wrongness she felt, by this conflict, maybe by the feelings of being disposed. Interesting...

Ahhh when John was replaying those tapes, the one when Gertrude says "once an entity is fully manifested, it wouldn't be keen on relinquishing its grip on reality, " I just had a thought. The only entity that hasn't been manifested yet, is the Extinction. And yes yes I know we don't even have any proof that that's even a real power, but think about it! The Extinction is the only power that is in direct opposition to all of the other 14 Entities. If they could do a ritual for the Extinction...I know it's not a solution and maybe this idea is too far fetched, but with humans gone, there won't be any fear to feed off of. And I guess it comes down to whether you'd rather live in constant horror and fear, or not exist at all. I haven't watched any further than this episode yet but i swear if they do something like this i will scream.

Oooh! Nice theory! I feel like they'll do something like this- maybe not with the extinction specifically, but something that will simultaneously banish the 14 and also be kinda horrible still for everyone? Like, at first I thought it would just be that they banished the Fears and the world goes back to normal except for that now the main characters are very negatively affected by it because of their connection to the Entities, but actually it's not like the world /could/ go back to normal. Everyone would be very, very traumatized by whatever torture they were going through at that point, and it's unlikely that most would be able to carry on. So I don't know, maybe they'll find a way for everything to just... stop. (spoilers for ep 168) I feel like Oliver Bank's last statement (from 168- Roots) might have to do with this? I don't know, it just feels like it might be relevant

It make sense but human aren’t the only food sources for all 14, Slaughter, Hunt, Flesh and the Dark are primal fears of all animals, humans are just one of their food sources.

I'm pretty sure that even if the Extinction could manifest in its own right, any ritual would be antithetical. It's the fear of the future, of change, of being unable to return to what there once was because the way is now shut.

I see Gertrude in a new light after this one.... A kind of fondness for Gerard that I never imagined before. I always thought of people being rated in their "value" to her but I feel she actually was fond of him. Still a badass, perhaps even more so because she has someone to share a bit of the load with

So having just finished season 4 and coped by watching a bunch of quite bad tik tok compilations, I feel like the only way to cope is to just burn through the rest of the podcast in one night. Is it sensible or healthy? No. Will I be able to get up for work in the morning? Also no, but if I don't I will literally never listen again

This makes me really concerned that Jon and Martin's relationship will just turn into bitter codependency, trying to act like they're in love because the alternative is too painful to bear alone.
