In addition, in the orginal fumble rooski, you usually have a guard or OT pick it up , they are technically inelgible and this a handoff to them would be inelgibnle reciever penalty, and thus why it must touch ground first, but in this day, you cannot run it any more. fantastic analysis
@vjm212
@vjm212 8 ай бұрын
Technically this is the Bumerooski, because the ball never touches the ground. (Extra crazy trivia: the Bumerooski is not named that because it touches the QB's bum, it's named that because it was invented by Coach Bum Phillips.)

No. It was a hand-off, between the quarterback's legs to a running back. The fumblerooski is when the ball is left on the turf for a lineman to pick up and advance. It's against the rules to throw the ball or hand it off to a lineman so it's necessary to risk a lost fumble to make a lineman the ball carrier.

NOT a fumblerooski. It was a direct, though unconventional, handoff to an eligible ball carrier. The football wasn't left on the turf for a lineman to pick up and advance. The QB took the snap from center and handed the ball between his legs to a running back.

Great play, but this was not a fumblerooski. The fumblerooski is actually illegal, this play was simply the QB handing it through his legs. Everybody's calling it a fumblerooski because the announcers called it that because they were confused. That, and it's fun to say "fumblerooski".
