Most of these comments are horrible. Regardless of if you agree or disagree with her she has lived a a remarkable life. Something most of you would not understand because you are simply, plain and have a herd mentality of thinking. You would need to be thinking about the legacy you are going to leave when it is your time to move on from this world but you are too busy critiquing others and trying to oppress people like me.

These comments are horrible. People outcry her stance on abortion only to celebrate her death gleefully. However that's what social media does to all of us. We're anonymous and can say anything we want so the filter comes off. Also, we have a crabs in the barrel mentality. You can see it everyday when you're driving for example. We hate it when someone does better than us so we try to drag them down.

“Frankly,” said Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in 2009, “I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.” She was speaking to the New York Times Magazine in an article on women on the court. Readers understood that those “populations” included racial minorities.

Ginsburg infamously only had two Black clerks in total during her decades as a judge. That included one clerk during her 13 years on the D.C. Circuit Court - a duration where the National Review reminded its readers “she had never had a single black law clerk, intern, or secretary. Out of 57 employees, zero blacks.” That unfortunate trend continued after she became a Supreme Court Justice, when she “hired only one black clerk among the more than 100 clerks she has had.”

In my daily life I would not come into contact with Justice Ginsburg, but what I know of the woman, I do indeed like. And should I have ever passed her in some hallway in D.C. or on the street (though, I should think members of our Supreme Court never did too much walking on the street?); if I'd gotten over the initial shock of a chance-encounter, I believe I would have simply smiled and said "hello". The rarified air that these people live in and the responsibilities they have, it leads me to remember my place and to simply let them continue in their work, rest, and play.

RBG represented a large segment of america that shared in her values and beliefs. While I disagreed with her on many of the things she believed in, I'm glad that our system of democracy still works in that the people in this country got someone who stood by them in their corner of the world. Someone's who's tenacity and dedication to her country were probably unmatched on that bench. If you don't believe in her views, at least raise her as a symbol that our democracy still works, that sometimes you don't get your way because there are other American's who got there's. May her memory be a blessing.

@Professor C Correct. Most people dont know but the Republican party was formed by 150 black men and 4 white men 6 years before slavery was abolished. Not one single Republican owned slaves. Calling Garland "eminently qualified," she reiterated her belief that the Senate should hold a vote but "it's the Senate's prerogative." She added, however, that the court is "handicapped" without nine justices. Asked whether she said Clinton would re-nominate Garland, if she were to win the election, Ginsburg said, "your guess about what she would do is as good as mine."

The Supreme Court must reflect the conservative makeup of America. 80% Conservative, 10% Liberal, 10% Independent. So to be fair and proportional we need at 8 conservative and 1 moderate liberal on the bench.

I seriously don't understand how people can hear about her passing and decide to bash her and her career and make her death about politics. No one is perfect in their life yet people find anyway to kick dirt onto anyone they can even past the persons death

Yes and fill it fast! Her "supposed" dying wish is nothing more than twisted manipulation. If the president does not fill the seat before the election, the Democrats get the one up they want, but if he does fill the seat, the Democrats will call him a heartless monster for not fulfilling a poor old dying woman's last wish. But that's what the left does best- manipulate!!

I believe in God, so everything we want and do, we can not make it go to the way we want all the time, if it for the good of the people God always let it happen. See, how Justice Ruth want to live through after the new election to happen, but no, that's not the God will, she had to go before that.

RBG always expressed disrespect and disdain for Donald Trump and for Conservatives. She insisted on being political instead of neutral. I always wondered when the payback for that would come. Bingo. If RBG had been smart ( and Obama too) she would have quit under Obama. But Noooooo, she had to be eager and partisan, and stay till the end to fight, fight fight. OK so now the other side is eager and partisan, to install a fresh new face. Bingo.
