This is the second year _running_ of protestors being eliminated in large numbers. If we're talking about firsts for Ruto, we've never had this level of protests ever. There were huge protests in close to 40 counties. We've never had the military deployed across the country, against citizens. Last year, the protests were also fairly huge, including in non-traditional zones like Ukambani, Kisii etc. I was shocked, which is how I knew that there's an extreme level of resentment, which this govt should have seen coming. This culminated in Ruto signing the _Malabo Protocol Act_ in July 2023, to prevent prosecution at ICC. The brouhaha this time was huge, that's why the IG, and the entire cabinet had to go. We've been trending globally. Some of the killings were shown on live _international_ TV (like in 2007/2008). We've never had this level of mass abductions of regular citizens. Ruto didn't show any empathy (or remorse) for protest victims, until he was told to. In 2017, it was Ruto who told Uhuru to "kaa ngumu" when he wanted to make overtures towards the opposition to stop the violence. Uhuru talked about it all, in case you haven't seen the videos. You need to speak with Peter Mbuthia, who sustained life-threatening burns in the Kiambaa massacre, and authored the book _Scars of a Nation: Survivor of Kiambaa Church Massacre and the Elusive Justice_ . You might not be able to say some of the things you've been saying to his face. Ruto dismissed this massacre as an "accidental fire during preparation of lunch". He's never showed any empathy, never shown up there etc. That was a deal-breaker for me. That said, Kibaki's govt killed more than any other govt, due to the _Kwekwe_ squad that eliminated suspected _Mungiki_ adherents (a lot of them during the nusu mkate coalition)
