Season 3 Episode 5 "Climbing Into Bed"
Ruzek finds himself in hot water when his unauthorized undercover operation ends with a missing gun-wielding psychopath on the loose, a restaurant owner's wife dead and more questions than answers. While on suspension, Ruzek struggles with guilt after his CI is found dead. Lindsay moves back into her apartment for good.

Watch, listen and read enough stuff about how cops suck and you'll easily fall into an echo chamber of assuming all cops do nothing and are bad people, the news doesn't help this at all considering 98% of police news coverage is either neutral towards them or outright against them in one way or another. Add that on top of the emotional turmoil of your mom dieing and there you go. Blind rage towards the cops.

I don't think they'd care if they were being rude when they're an emotional wreck looking for someone, or something, to blame. It's only when the adrenaline reduces and it starts sinking in that they begin to regret it.

He was in the car when the guy murdered those people. That is felonious murder. In Illinois, if you are with someone who commits a felony, even if you did nothing wrong, you are also charged with the felony.
