In this video, I'll talk about managing water and maintaining your RV's wastewater tanks at a full hookup campsite. Camping at a full hookup campsite affords some opportunity to clean wastewater tanks to ensure they work properly when on the road. You don’t want to lose black tank capacity while traveling and this process should help.

Thank you John. Very informative. I just emptied my tank and black tank flush it 4 times with 1/2 tank water each time until no more debris showed. Then I added fresh water and found my 37 gallon tank was useful to only 32

The r pod192 has the flushing spray entering the black tank from the opposite end of the tank from the drain. Thanks for the good info, keep up the good work. Dave

Great presentation as always. I do the same black tank flush procedure as you. That the best way to go. I also use shower to help speed up the black tank. I hold shower head over toilet and hold flush down, works great. Typically shower i do hot water handle, only because i like running water through the hot water heater. To me, it like flushing hot water tank and black tank same time.

All good information for folks RVing !!! I never have used my black tank . We use the compost method! I do however use the grey tank ! Thanks for sharing John !😁👍

It was a relatively small detail you showed but I didn't realize the black tank was so short and flat. For some reason I thought it was more like 12" tall. It helps understand how the system operates even better. Thanks for that.

That’s good John, I sometimes drag the spare hose in hooked to city water with the city cut off to the toilet. Using a nozzle on the hose I blast down in the tank and fill half way and dump the black then I use a poo wand and let it do its thing and back flush a couple of times. Real it’s not much different other than dragging a garden hose in but hey it works and sensors are fine always.

if i use a non full hookup site after i dump my tank i put 2 small bags of ice down the toilet on my way to my next stop and then empty the tanks. it seems to keep them ampty and no build up due to the ice acting like little scrubbers while traveling. what do you think about this?

It's a good idea I hear many RVers employ. I don't see it doing damage to the tank in transit but I do not have experience to speak to it. All the best!
