🤔What is Life Redesigned? Glad you asked - You can check out our Channel Intro video here: • This is Us | Life Rede...
🧗Originally from New Hampshire, In 2017 our youngest daughter asked us to take her on a vacation anywhere that had palm trees. Little did we know, that would start us down a path of travel. In 2022, After 28 years of marriage, Our kids, now grown, ventured out onto their own and left us with an “Empty Nest”. Seizing on an exploding real estate market, we sold EVERYTHING and hit the road in our brand new 2023 Grand Design 22MLE. Our videos serve as a diary and an open window to REAL RV life.

I hope you went back to brick and morter. I am thinking this might be a good fit for me. I am thinking erent my house for one year and try. 3-4 day weekend only. I work from home. So I have to work out 100% internet to work. Retired Army Airborne two wars. I think I can do this and finally explore America like the world. I built a paradice Hawaii vacation property, so nervous to take the change but I have everything planned week by week 52 weeks to see if I like it.

My wife of 31 years and I became full time RVers almost 3 years ago. I did not believe that it was possible but since we started this journey, we have become closer than ever before. Full time RVing is like any other stressor in marriage, if the marriage and partnership isnt strong at the beginning, stressing that bond will not help.

My husband and I are currently researching full-time RVing, and don't plan on starting for about a year. Your video reminded us both that communication is key. We've been married for 30+ years and disagreements are going to happen. Preparing to go full-time is scary, but we really are communicating better through all of our prep work. Love you two and how open and honest you are about full-time RV life.

Very good topic! Our marriage is only challenged when we are backing the RV in to its spot… one could say, that is the equivalent of a cat meeting a dog for the first time in a dark alley... 😂 but after we unhook the trailer and she decides that it's my turn to cook everything gets much much better!

We were told over 6 years ago that we were crazy to go full-time rv and get an rv with no slides because it would mean we'd be even more crammed together in a tiny space. Just starting our 7th year full-time. Been married 36 years. We believe that full-time rv has made our marriage stronger. We keep Christ in the center of everything. In a bigger house it would be easier for some to walk out of a marriage. In a tiny home, you have no where to go! You HAVE to work things out. I think it helps that the two of us are on the same page about most things. Most of the stress comes from working through the problems of full-time rv itself (finding campgrounds or overnight stays where there are few choices, locations nearby for dumping tanks, finding laundromats with parking to accommodate our rv, having our truck break down, etc) We work together on solutions for those challenges. It can get a bit hairy at times, but we often laugh when we re-tell the stories to someone else. God bless! 💕

We've been married 47 years this year, which is hard hard work. RVing definitely created stress in the beginning. I remember being in a Walmart parking lot yelling at each other that we would never rv with the other one. Years later, we've learned that RVing requires more kindness. We can now back into a small space without raising our voices. It requires commitment. If you're committed, then you find ways to make it work. Because the alternative is a life of anger, bitterness and ultimately hatred. We chose work over hatred. RVING made more work for us in the beginning, but eventually, we had more time together to do that important work.

I had just "found " you guys 2 weeks ago and so was really upset when I saw your clickbait. Nice, ya got me. So RV life did save our marriage in some very real ways. Joanne and I got married late in life She had been divorced twice and me once, I'm 71, she's 5 yrs younger. After we got married we discovered we liked dating each other but not so much on the marriage part. We were in trouble so we sat down and talked and talked. The only common ground we could find was we both liked to travel. I bought a totaled 38 ft Numar Mountain Aire from an insurance auction, fixed it and we were off... until we realized the bus was getting 6.5 mpg. That was actually a blessing because it forced us to rethink what we were doing and came up with a plan that did save our relationship. Jo wanted to work one more year, so we started taking a 5 day vacation once a month until she officially retired. Winter was just starting and we lived in Mesa Arizona so the whole desert was our playground. At the start of the month we would pick out a town and that would be our home base for the trip. Then for the next 3 weeks, instead of watching t.v. we would research the area and towns around. Deep dive into history we never learned in school. EVERY SINGLE TOWN has an amazing history, fun facts and things you just have to see. Little dusty towns we would normally just blast through become places we can't wait to visit. Have to see Aunt Tilly's Diner with the best black eyed peas and cornbread in the world and Fred"s Antique Shop with its one of a kind display of early southwest junk, etc. Every trip we would run out of time long before we ran out of things to see. Made for very inexpensive and very fun travel. In real time now, we just bought a sticks and bricks to move into. 2 months ago Joanne was put into a Hospice program. Despite being very stubborn, she isn't going to win this one. With out RVing I probably would have had another set of bitter memories of another failed marriage. RVing replaced those memories with adventure, interesting discovery and even some excitement ( and a lot of hard work). I'll take that any day.
@liferedesigned
@liferedesigned 10 ай бұрын
So, a couple of things here: First, so sorry to hear about Joanne -we can't even begin to imagine what that must be like. It is stories like this that keep us doing KZfaq. The amount of things we have learned and advice we have received is amazing and truly shows the best side of people. Your shared story as corny as this sounds, will forever be in our hearts and serve as a stark reminder that life is short and precious. Second, As far as the clickbait title. We did address this a couple videos back, BUT unfortunately in order to be seen on this platform it is something that needs to be done until viewers habits change. That being said, We ALWAYS stick to the subject that is in the title - for us, this was a heartbreaking moment of discovery as a couple. We will NEVER put up a video that is a flat out lie. While the thumbnails and titles are always going to be an issue - the fact remains that your story would probably never had reached us if it wasn't for that, and for that we are greatly appreciative.

42 years going on 43 , my wife likes traveling, and I like being home . We started to rv ,but we will never make it a full-time thing. Maybe, a big trip once a year, 15 days is enough. Stay closer to home is adequate for us . The key ingredient in a marriage is allowing freedom to be yourself and not trying to change the other person. She has lots of friends , but me I am content by myself and my dogs.

Love your story! Brad is my second husband - I was a very immature 40 when I married him. I had just come out of a 14 year marriage where my first husband had spoiled me, and I was totally incapable of making decisions on my own. No one ever thought Brad and I would make it, but here we are, just passed 32 years! We've done a lot of maturing over the years, and 29 years in recovery gave me some insight into forgiveness, character defects, and tolerance. I just retired this year and we're looking for an ambulance to convert into our tiny home. As we do the research, we are quickly realizing that we need to work on some areas of our marriage so that we'll be prepared for the change from apartment to RV life!

My wife and I have been married for 46 years but we aren't full timers. We have made a few trips in excess of a month and I can see how full timing requires a lot of give and take as well as patience on the part of both husband and wife. I'd love to be full timing but she is more of a stay at home type so we compromise and take short trips and it is enjoyable. The only time things ever got really strained was when I'm backing up the camper into a spot and she'd holler out directions (which were many times wrong lol). We finally learned to use our cell phones on speaker when backing in and things stay a lot calmer. Thanks for your videos!

I've known those who did divorce after a time doing full-time RV lifestyle. My hubby & I started in 2011 (24 yrs married) and yes, we had days that tried both of us (try going thru menopause within 2 months of starting the travel life!) But we survived & our marriage is stronger. We transitioned out of full-time RV lifestyle in 2022 when we found the right area of the country we could call home (and able to pay for our home with 1/2 acre - With CASH!) We do miss somethings of the lifestyle, but problems with the life (campgrounds, the rig, lack of seeing people in the campgrounds - COVID fears, . ) turned out to be the reasons to stop traveling - also some age & health issues were coming up and needed to be considered.

Hey there! It's awesome that you are or were experiencing Canada. We are right there with you on checking out the small towns/Walmarts and wildlife. As for our marriage...In March, we will have been married for 2 years. Not our first rodeo. He came into our marriage with 5 kids and I had 2. When we first got married, we all moved in together and it definitely was not easy adjusting but we made the most of it. Then 4 months later, my oldest son died from Leukemia while two weeks later I had to get back to work as school was starting back up(Teacher here), then 5 months later, I decided to start my photography business back up and two months later, put in my resignation to my school district. You know everything that they say are the biggest stressors in life...Nick and I made it through it all and are still holding strong and will always hold strong. We know it's not always easy but we are a team and will definitely make the most of it. Always have to find the positive and joy in everything. AND I never thought about the bathroom issue!!! LOL!

I appreciate your honesty in this video. You don’t always get a glimpse of life behind the camera. Although we are not full timers, we absolutely LOVE the RV life! The RV life can be loads of fun and loads of stress that can pull your marriage in different directions. Nothing is more stressful than pulling a 40’ 5th wheel into a campsite that is too tight for maneuvering, and your wife is telling you everything you’re doing wrong. I’ve learned by experience that I have to swallow my pride and listen! We have embarked on this life of prolonged periods on the road because above all we love spending time together making memories. We love to explore new places together! We have had the most fun on vacations when it’s just the 2 of us! Disagreements, misunderstandings and frustrations are a way of life. You just have to take a deep breath, think before you react or speak and use those times as an opportunity to get to know each other better. We too are products of broken marriages. We lived thru the most gut wrenching experiences of our lives, but now we have each other, and we can truly appreciate the people we are as one. We live life enjoying each other and finding new horizons!

Hi Guys, Just recently found your channel. Your style is obviously different from the many other RV channels in KZfaq land; I find it refreshing AND your content very relevant. This video [RV Life Destroyed our 38 year MARRIAGE,] was, let's say...interesting. A very well discussed, in depth discussion of entering into and living through a completely new way of living. As my wife and I, newly retired, are discussing the potential of full timing for the next few years, I find your honesty and information on the topic an excellent primer from which I took a lot away from. Thanks and looking forward to future content. [p.s. I have some catch up homework to do with your previous VDOs which I intend to begin watching. - Happy Travels.]

❤I totally agree with what you are saying. My wife and I bought our first camper in 1990 while we both were still working. So it was two weeks here and weekends there. That lasted until we retired in 2006. We never did go full time however we criss crossed the country many times over the years and would be out on the road 5 to 6 months at a time. We definitely had to work out some issues and somehow we made it work. After 59 years of marriage I lost my bride in 2022 as the cancer finally caught up with her. Her last wishes was that I keep her in the truck so she could still travel with me. I am so grateful that we took the time and worked out our issues living in a 39 ft fifth wheel and later in a 25 ft Airstream so that she still wanted to travel with me in spirit form. Hopefully I will see you on down the road sometime. Love your channel ❤️❤️

Everything you shared about marriage and your struggles was very insightful and powerful! So happy to see your marriage having the total VICTORY in spite of it all! That's A BLESSSING! One concern I did have about this video was the... Title. Honestly i thought and felt it was misleading and click bait😔 One thing is for sure... PRAISE GOD you both have grown and learned a lot from all of this and have made incredible progress with your marriage and have been able to help and encourage a lot of peoples lives because of it all especially other married couples watching your channel! THATS AWESOME! Look forward to the next video! GOD BLESS YOU!

As we discussed in the video - this is how we felt, dismissing our feelings and calling it clickbait would mean that the viewer was actually looking to celebrate a loss of a marriage. Either way - clickbait or not, numerous stories of people’s feelings, struggles and ultimate triumph are available in the comments alone - all brought because they all share one common thread. We only present the information, praise god for the people who seen the video for what its intentions were! Safe travels

Kudos to you two for approaching this subject matter. Your honesty is so admirable. A marriage contract is for many the toughest contract of all to honor, since like they say "men are from Mars & women from Venus" I am 71y.y. & my wife is a year my senior. We have been married for 32years after we each had been divorced. I'm not speaking from the RV life, but life in general. We stuck it out, but to be perfectly honest we could have been divorced at least 50 times as we are so opposite. I'm sure the fact that we had both been previously divorced played a hand in not wanting to fail a 2nd time. Time has a way of blending you more together if you can last. So i guess this sermon would be more for the younger crowd to realize that life is not always a bowl of cherries & that marriages have their share of struggles for some. I hope this comment helps someone.Thanks for putting yourselves out there & trying to put things into perspective. Have a beautiful day!! Illinois, USA

My wife and I on our first trip almost gave up. We were on our way to Iowa in a 37ft Class A in 40mph winds, full blown thunderstorm going up 7% grades being tossed around like a toy by Semi's and I was white knuckling it and swearing up a storm and my wife asked me to pull over. I pulled over and she told me we can't do it this way, we will go crazy and you will have a heart attack. So I sat there with the hazards on and relaxed myself and worked our way back onto the road and I decided I would not let the weather and how badly our rig was being bounced around and I slowed down, allowed the Semi's to pass and the rest of the trip went much smoother. How we react to situations dictates everything and 24 years later I'm still working on how I react to things and she reminds me when I need it but we are best friends as well as married which is very important for a marriage to work. Congrats on working things out and learning as you go, so many couples are too hard headed and blame the other and get divorced.

Funny you should mention that: the plastic bathroom vent cover in my (then) brand new (2021) grand design Imagine rb2600 leaked first weekend in our driveway. It had a burn (melted) hole in the corner(like some tech laid a cigarette or soldering iron down on it).Took lots of pictures.. Dealer said: "it' s a manufacturers' issue". Grand design said: "it was from a campfire ember" ( it hadn't left our driveway yet) . To this day It has small square of gorilla tape over it. It's only a $30 part...(But I washed my hands of both the dealer and Grand design)...$40K+ purchase. No support.

This was quite interesting to me because I am an analyst and this video confirmed what I had observed about the both of you. Especially Bob. Here is the deal , I think you are actually a very cool and young couple, you seem to be honest and down to earth which is what I like. I am not a hypocrite so if I didn't think you were I would not say it. Bob, I am a little bit like you and I sometimes can't help it. Just try to take a deep breath and slow the heck down, it works for me most times. I am glad you acknowledged her and gave her the opportunity to speak as well, she has a voice and I can tell that she is very smart so just take your time guys. Give everything a try and if it doesn't work try something else and so on. You will figure it out. Nothing but the best for you.

My wife and I lived three years full time in a 28ft camper. We weren't on the road full time but still had the same struggles. We lived through it, came out the other side, and loved each other even more but we did have a big out door area where we could get away from one another. Would we go full-time over the road. Probably not. Great video you to put out. It gives people a lot to think about before jumping in.

Everything is relative. We got back a few weeks ago from a three week trip to South Dakota. As we arrived back at the “closet” as my wife calls it things felt roomy after being in the RV. We made a choice in selling our 3,100’+ home and moving to an approximately 450’ Park Model on a large lot. Our “stuff” is in storage as we build elsewhere. The RV gives us some ability to escape and with great neighbors at our build site, I have FHUs a few hundred feet away from our nearly completed home. We built a large shop next to the house where I will store the RV making it easier to take trips at our leisure. We considered the full-time route, but we needed a home base. I wasn’t ready to get rid of all our “stuff” and my wife has a need to nest. This allows us to participate in ministry activities both at home and on the road. I would dislike my financial well-being to be predicated on Y-T priorities. From my vantage point, I see folks get into recording their travels for other purposes and unfortunately it becomes a business. Mix in a fair amount of pride and this “hobby” becomes a job. The commercialization is a big turn-off and I quit watching as channels become larger succumbing to the “Influencer” game.

Well said! We firmly believe that everyone deserves to have some financial support when they pour their hearts into a hobby- we get it, equipment costs, time spent etc - it all adds up. The problem definitely is when they accept every offer and never question anything or any product - that is wrong!

My wife and I have been weekend and vacation RVing for over 13 years now. We average 25-30 nights camping in 8 or 9 trips each year. It's enough to keep our wanderlust a teeny bit satisfied and gives us something to always look forward to as I plan a year in advance. Honestly, it's one of the things that keeps us happily together - being able to go out and have even a small adventure because life can just feel mundane sometimes. We plan to hit the road for much longer stretches after we retire but we've been doing it long enough to already know we don't desire to go full-time. We like having a home base to return to and we don't want to be away from family and friends for too long. I love your honesty and candor and don't follow many travel influencers because so much of it is hype but you guys have a new fan. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!
