I have a 35 forest river cardinal 3350rlx with residential fridge, 3600 watts on roof, victron charge controller, 2 quattro 5000 inverters. and 2 discover aes 48 volt 7.4 kwh lithium batteries onan 240v commercial 6500 generator. we are mostly off grid for 1 to 2 weeks at a time and rarely use the gen, unless we are in 95 plus degrees. i think your rig is awesome! everyone I know thinks I am crazy , well maybe not after seeing yours. No one wanted to free up information that might help someone. I was fortunate with my power needs. We changed every light to led. Had a 12v television with built-in dvd. The only 120v we used at all was AC and microwave. We didn't have your needs, yet we still didn't use all that we generated. Many thanks.

I have an extremely large system myself (but I do love how your panels slide out) I COMPLETELY AGREE with what you said about people often just buy what they hear is the top and most expensive brand on items,, which simply is not always the best ;) I went with Ampere batteries at a 1/3 the cost and havent had a single issue. I went with epever solar controllers, WAY better all the way around than Victron, and again at a greater cost savings :) I run multiple identical controllers, rather than just one large one, so I never have an issue of a failure taking out my enitre system ;)

Always good to someone take that step to live there life like they want, I am in the process of building my own 900ah battery for my motorhome

I am really glad to see you do this. Im all in. Love techy, brainy engenerdy type things. Especially when they address clear needs. Joshua, you have immediately marketable ideas with proof of concept complete. I pray manufacturers approach you because this industry is 40 years behind existing tech. Example: slide covers. They shouldn't exist. For 20 years people have been using slide covers right next to solar panels when they could have just slid the solar panels over the slides and never bought the slide coverage to begin with. There is simply no innovation in the RV industry. They need folks from the outside to literally do it for them. Here's another one lithium batteries are lasting longer than trailers so why aren't the batteries built into the trailers?

Thank you for starting this you tube channel and providing your experience. The path you are taking with this channel inspires me to start my project. I am a little different as I am going to do this on my boat. Space and weight are the challenges I have also. As I calculate the energy consumption of the items I have will determine how to proceed.

I can only speak from my own experience, but I have had great experience with the personnel at BB. They either answer or call back every time….even though I purchased my four batteries years ago, and even though my “issues” are usually NOT battery related, they are inverter or other related (which I did NOT buy from them). Everyone do what they want/need to do, but BB has treated me very well.

We have been doing a ton of research for our next lithium system for our new trailer that is ordered, the 300 ah cell is very intriguing and might work for us. And the pricing doesn’t look out of range for what the average is for decent components. Thanks for the video !

Just watched your second video with Tom, and immediately found your channel and watched. Your ideas are super crazy and I'm sure you'll be cutting the way into more tech for the full time rv'ers! So excited for you! Currently, we're installing a very small solar system on our class A to get us started into the boon docking experience, ultimately when we go full time for good with a newer class A, we would like to tow an enclosed trailer that would carry our car and all the extras, my dream would be separate solar setups that can be paired, one on the camper and one on the trailer. Holding extra water and propane in the trailer also. Any sort of encouragement or ideas for that setup is welcome!

Great information. When I had my 2021 Rockwood 2614BS built last year I ordered their optional solar package for $400. 190w panel, 1000w Inverter and 11cf 12v compressor refrigerator. I have used it for several boondocking trips. I also bought a Harbor freight 3500w inverting generator. I had dealer add a 2nd AGM battery. I knew I would eventually upgrade. So far it's been fine except running my Kurig, Microwave and AC. With a 30ft pull behind I don't have a lot of space for batteries or panels. I know I can go above my 2 ACs to get more panels on roof. I doubt I can't get enough to run one AC even with soft starts.

We met you guys on our first outing with our Momentum in Northern California. You were just starting your solar panel project. So happy to see all your accomplishments and upgrades. Your top notch and I look forward to more videos.

I'm not an RVer but I sort of had a similar idea on my little off grid solar system...I used 18 deep cycle marine batteries for my setup. It works well enough, I use them in 24 volts hookup. I have a 2000 watts Aims inverter charger, and a couple smaller inverters. I got my batteries for right at $100 a piece. It has been a year since I had to use my gas generator. I have 885 amp hours...The first 8 batteries, I bought the 90 amp hours ones, so that I could save up for the inverter. The last ten I got the 105 amp hours ones. I used to get two , most months, and the months I didn't get batteries, I would get a couple 100 watts solar panels. I don't have to worry about the weight or size. They are kind of heavy , lol. They work, if you have enough of them. I was going to get 20 of them, but I think I have enough now. I have 1200 watts of panels which some part of them is outside all the time, some I move around some. It took me 14 months to put my stuff together...people here think if you have solar, you have a 100 watt foldable panel, and a deep cycle Walmart battery. But I wanted to be able to run an electric oven, and a small A/C unit in the summer. I have a small fridge that doesn't use much power. My system worked okay with 16 batteries. With 18, the volts don't change much, it just discharges the battery bank a lot slower. I have noticed that the charge controller feeds more amps into the batteries now. The Battle Born batteries were out of my price range...people in my income bracket read about solar and would like it, but don't think about setting aside money for the parts of it. I decided I would just buy two batteries at a time until I got enough. There were some problems ; I fried my Aims inverter charger twice trying to run different welders...it doesn't like welders...no more of that...too expensive. So I had the bright idea, ( pun intended) to use the battery bank to weld with... problem solved...with all the batteries, and new #2 welding lead wire, I can weld right off the battery bank now. I only do it at night when the charge controller is off. If I was an RVer, I might be pulling a trailer full of batteries but I wouldn't need to borrow any power...people might chuckle at my four different brands of solar panels, until I pull out the welding leads...lol...I figured when I could weld off of it, it was about big enough. What I like about solar, everybody has a different hookup. They want it for different things. It's pretty fun though, getting all the free energy to run every thing I have. My batteries are almost always in float by noon, even on overcast days...I just like the fact that if I want to air fry a pizza, it won't wreck the voltage, lol. Now, they recover so fast it's hard to believe...and we had a winter storm with four days of rainy weather, and sleet , and snow...and the battery bank only dropped to 24.9 volts...full is 25.8 ...so I guess I finally have enough batteries...I did mine by trial and error. This was my first solar experience so I had to figure it all out. I stumbled through the " buying an inverter mine field " well enough that I survived, I guess. The one I have has went up about $140 since I bought mine. I was going to save up for a Magna Sine, but halfway there, they went up, so I figured it was a sign, and bought the Aims instead. I just wanted to get off the grid, not necessarily a big neighborhood power station. So I went to get a 3000 watts Aims Power inverter charger...they were sold out...so, I had to get a 4000, or a 2000...I didn't quite have enough for the 4000, so I got the 2000 just to see how they worked before I got a bigger one. The 2000 watts one will go a surprising long time in a low light condition such as snow. I liked the lower idling current, so that 's the one I got. I don't need a big one probably...just cost more, lol...I'm glad to be finishing up my stuff...it feels like when I paid my truck off...I was in the parts house getting two batteries one time and me and a guy were talking about the solar...so he says " well, what do you do when the sun isn't out? " ...I says" well, have you ever tried to run 20 deep cycle batteries down ? " , so he says , " Oh, I see what you mean"...I thought , how funny, he thinks it only works when the sun is out...but when I told him, he got the connection between the batteries I was buying and the solar panels...lol...well, I happened across your video...I enjoy seeing how others "gather the watts" on their setups. Nice rig...way out of my league. I'm lucky to have what I do have.

Congratulations on the new channel. I will be upping my game as far as solar but I am also looking into having some wind generation on board. The areas I like to boondock seem to have a lot of wind blowing. My RV is only a 22 foot rig so I do not have the room on top to go over the top. I have to say my number one choice through education on KZfaq has been battleborn but technology changes every time you blink so you have to be willing to go with the flow and keep up with the change can't wait to get my RV track you all down and hook up for power so I can build LOL safe travels

Great info and good luck on your video future. You have truly accomplished over-the-top projects for your RV. I am not a full timer but love to boondock for weeks at a time in Colorado, Arizona and Utah in my Turtleback Overland Trailer. Power has always been my concern since I still have to maintain essential equipment when overlanding. I am looking to improve by battery bank (two 100A AGM) and add to my solar capability to keep the batteries charged when boondocking. Thanks again for your information and inspiration.

Enjoyed the video, good stuff. My wife and I just bought our travel trailer and plan to start boondocking next summer when our daughter graduates from high school. So no we are in learning, buying and trying mode as we get ready for that. The plan... we are getting a Cybertruck to pull the camper, I plan to have enough solar to run the camper and charge the truck.. then the truck will end up being the backup generator for the camper if we need it. This means we need a bi directional setup on the rig and the ability to layout a solar "Farm" that varies depending on where we are going... so it can expand or contract as needed. Solar -> Rig -> CT -> Rig. I feel like we need a base amount of batteries on the rig itself so that it can run most things without the truck, but find that balance of weight and performance... as the truck should have 120+ KW of power available which should power the rig a long long time if needed. Anyway... in research mode now, exploring options and gear before buying/hiring to get the work done.

I've been looking at RV's lately now that I've decided to take the plunge and go full-time. My biggest concern was power because I'm not familiar with electrical systems in depth, or solar panels at all, but I've been working with computers and virtual reality simulators for years. Outside of my love for the wilderness, travel and exploring, I am an avid PC gamer and trying to work out power requirements, spacing, temperature, air filtration and humidity; it's all a huge endeavor and I'm quite nervous to begin. I appreciate the information provided in the video and I am very impressed with your entire set up.

Unfortunately right now I am currently unemployed, I’ve only got one solar panel and two little hundred amp hour blood cell batteries but I am also plugged in at the moment. Awesomeness! Love the idea that you started the buddy program, would love to see you on the road although we are on the east coast! We have somewhat boondocked in our travels at harvest host or roadside rest areas but never for a long period of time.

Your system is awesome. 4 more actuators on the corners of the lower rack. You could tip side to side and for and aft. Chase the sun as it moves. I have a 43’ jayco. If I can achieve half a system as clean as yours I would be super happy. Great job Josh!

My wife and I purchased a 2021 Grand Design 2600RB in fall of 2020. Last winter we camped in the Phoenix AZ area because we have family there. I had purchased four 100 AH batteries plus a 3500 watt generator and it worked ok except we had to run the generator several hours a day to charge the batteries. It was a hassle operating the generator plus it cost a lot in fuel. So last summer I decided to go solar and I installed three 385 watt panels on the roof plus victron charge controller, Lynx distributor and a 2200 watt inverter. I also added two more 100 AH batteries and purchased a 30 water bladder to add to our fresh water tank if needed. So the winter we spent a week with family then went to Quartzite AZ and we are still here. Have not use the generator once and our batteries never have dropped below 50%. We just have to be careful that we don’t run the microwave and hairdryer at the same time. I think if I want to eliminate that problem I would need to go to a 24 volt system with a 3000 watt victron inverter. I think the only thing we can’t run is the air conditioner on our system without the generator or shore power. So with the water bladder we can stay in one spot for a week before dumping tanks and adding water again. For us the one week dumping and the solar update made a huge improvement in our stay this winter. We don’t even worry about power anymore. I am very impressed with your updates to your RV and you should patent your solar panel system. Hope to see you sometime but won’t need your power.

Great start to the channel! Looking forward to more content. I'm in the planning stages of an off grid system for my Big Mo and have relied on Will Prowse and his knowledge. He hasn't reviewed any Enduro batteries yet. He likes the SOK batts for a cheaper battery. What I like about them is their 200Ah batts are the same footprint as their 100Ah batteries, but taller. In my situation, I have tons of vertical room, but limited horizontal. Would be nice if Enduro would consider that for another form factor.

Great first video. You're right about support. I have 2 100ah BB batteries and they work great. I had some questions about after install and left several messages, (they do not answer their phone), and have not received callbacks. Very frustrating. Wish I had known about Enduro. I currently have 2 basic 12v batteries. No solar. Have a generator that's way too big but it was on sale so I bought it haha waiting to get a new camper before i go wild with an actual solar system and batteries! The goal is to go full self sufficiency. Waiting to get the fifth wheel first though. Right now, it's not a major need for solar. I would like a better battery though so i don't have to worry about the furnace not working through the night. Great video!! Excited to see more of them!! 🤠

Hello from the high desert of New Mexico USA 🇺🇸. I live full-time in my 1967 GM TDH-4519 city transit bus on my friends land outside of Farmington. I have a 400 watt solar system and 4 100ah AGM batteries that won't hold a charge. I'm trying to sell some of my stuff so I can get some lithium cells to make a battery because I am so tired of not having power when the sun goes down. I look forward to learning more from you guys

This is the reason I've built my own for my campervan. Imported grade A cells to the UK. Purchased the BMS boards to meet my requirements. That way my batteries fit the space I have. I'm building a campervan from a Peugeot Boxer which is the same body as an extended Promaster in the USA. For a fairly small van I've built a 600Ah 12v battery and maxed out the roof space with 800w of solar.

We have a 35' fiver. 48v system, 2 quattros, 8-tesla bats, and 3265 watts on the roof. Installed a 2 unit mini split AC as well. We would love to share and swap solar stories and ideas. We also took advantage of the tesla battery heating system using copper coils and use Batrium battery management system. Currently hubby and I are tossing around the idea of flexible stick on solar panels on the sides of our RV to capture the setting and rising sun. Always looking to improve and maximize! We followed the vids on Starlink and have been happily using dishy as an alternate data provider.

I do like the smaller size of the Enduro Power batteries and while they do appear to be built with lithium cells that are UL certified the rest of the electrical components are not. I’m specifically concerned that they do not carry the UL2054 certificate against explosion and fire. Battleborn batteries might be bigger and more expensive but they do carry this certification. Given a choice between an American made fully UL certified battery and a Chinese made and partly UL certified battery, I think I’ll go with the Battleborn.

WooHoo! Glad you started your own channel! Would love a set-up like yours, but unfortunately because of the 7k axel limits on the 390s, won’t be anywhere close to that for a while. We’ll stick with our 4 battery and Multi Plus II set-up for now.

I don't see that enduro service is any better than Battle Born actually it's worse at least I've been able to talk to battleborn I have emailed and called enduro with no response at all wanted to find out what they recommended batteries for my RV and the service that I wanted

Very good video! I don't know much about lithium batteries but did just buy 3, 48v, 30amp Epoch batteries to replace the 300lbs of lead/acid batteries. The Lithium batteries only weigh about 100lbs and leave a lot more space in my little golf cart!! Like you, I didn't want to go cheap and have to do a replacement again. I'm retired and feel that at my age, (75) that the 11 year warranty will more than carry me to the end LOL

I'm about to be living out of my 85 4Runner, and I had thought the investment of a Battle Born would be wise. I'm rethinking it and will definately call Enduro Power to see if they have something that will fit my needs, even though I don't know what my needs are yet. LoL Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. Maybe someday I'll get to meet you both and shake your hands.

Currently, low end build, I have two of the BB 100 amp, ... and victron ... small class b 16' 202" ... Your description about how BB communicates is my same experience. I have a customer who is wanting me to build their RV class b system ... soon and I will check into the options mentioned here. Thanks...

Almost seems like server rack batteries would be the best option for you.Cheaper,smaller,more power and simple.They are heavy but not sure if they are heavier per w/h.

Love your modifications! I've been dreaming up ideas while steadily researching and purchasing materials. A "solar-awning" is one I've really been thinking of myself lately and so glad to see someone else doing it successfully! Slowly putting a charter bus conversion together while living in it, but contemplating a move to a 5-Ton military vehicle. The bus is live-able at the moment and basically a park model with no off-grid systems permanently installed yet. So how's this for nerd-crazy ​ @Rooted Off Grid electrical system that can handle at least half a server rack on at a time (prosumer, not commercial equipment), a 3d printer and desktop CNC mill, 2 110v mini-splits plus the other usuals :) Haven't done too much investigation into my actual solar/battery needs, but seem to be sitting around 28kWh/day currently.

I live and grew up here in Colorado. I've seen a tremendous amount of growth here. I understand why so many people want to live here but it's having an impact on our quality of life. I'm in the process of becoming a Nomad to reduce my cost of living but now that so many people are choosing this way of life it's not as affordable as it was. Getting a vehicle now is skyrocketing and the technology to run off grid is doing the same. I'm an artist and now I don't think I'm going to be able to even become a Nomad. Hopefully I'll be able to find something affordable but at this time I can't find anything that will work for me.

For 100 years there was only lead acid batteries. Finally Musk and other are investing in battery technology. I can’t wait to see where this leads. I was an engineer in the 80’s and helped design disk drives that had 300 kbytes in a cabinet the size of a dishwasher . Now we have 500 gigabytes in our phones. So happy you are on KZfaq to inform us of all the emergent technology.

great review. watched ETJ's video on Enduro the other day and was intrigued. Now yours, with ETJ as a guest.....must be a sign. We plan on upgrading to lithium at some point in the future and will consider Enduro strongly. My only concern is as a company grows, it often turns into something like Battle Born. I imagine Battle Born was a similar experience early on, but their huge success and growth does come at a cost. Enduro does sound like a great company. Like you, my biggest challenge is the design phase. I'm a former licensed electrician and pretty handy guy, so the install won't be as much of a challenge if I have some good guidance on the front end design portion.

Here's one for you... the fold-out design for your solar panels is really efficient. Consider partnering with a company to build a handful of standard sized units for sale. What you created is so efficient a nd logical, you'll sell thousands. I'll buy when I buy my rig.

I have six battleborn 12v 100ah batteries with two 12v 3000w inverters, 1,300 watts of solar on the roof, two solar controllers 100-50 and 100-70 everything Victron. Do you know if I can add like some 12v 300ah batteries to the mix and do they have to be the same brand. I appreciate your time and looking forward to more videos.

I bought a 400Ah LiFePO4 battery for my travel trailer from ReBel Batteries and it works great. It is light (75 pounds) and is only one battery--not a bulky battery bank. Both Enduro Power batteries and ReBel Batteries come with US-based sales and support. Enduro batteries are available up to 300Ah and ReBel Batteries are available up to 400Ah.

We have a 40'TH 5ver 400Watt solar w 40A MPPT controller/ 2kw total inverters with 110 AH FLA bank & 5500kva gen set which meets most of part time boom docking but hope to full time and build a solar system with Lithium bank able to allow AC and microwave with running the genset.
