In this video, we share essential tips and tricks on what to do to prepare for bad weather, server weather and tornadoes while living in an RV full-time. From securing your RV to finding a safe place to go, we cover all the necessary steps to keep you and your home on wheels protected.
The recent encounter with a confirmed tornado near our RV campground on May 21, 2024, has served as a stark reminder of nature's unyielding power and our vulnerability in the face of such storms. We are grateful to report that there were no injuries in our area, however there is a lot of damage, especially with trees. The confirmed tornado had a 7 mile path and was an EF1 with winds 86-110 mph. This was reminder of the importance for having a plan and be prepared and what to help you be prepared too!

We went through tornado warnings when we visited Minnesota in 2022. I, Rick, went through now stop tornado warnings 24/7 when I went to Tulsa, OK when I was 16 years old. And also in Minnesota when I was 4 years old. Instead of having a board to write on we ask for a bill and it has everything on it except the county on it.

It is spring time and it comes with some nasty storms in the mid-west for sure. Having a system in place to know where exactly you are is important to know what the weather warning are and what way the weather is heading. Be safe out there & hope that Class C sells soon!

We had storms down here about the same time. It's crazy the amount of damage we saw on our way up through Kentucky. The first campground we stayed at on this trip had no electricity, and it never did come on. You really have to always be prepared. Great video. Lynn and Danny

It is that time of year and the damage from tornados and the winds can be a lot. Being prepared is so important and the likely hood of losing power is almost a guaranty with these storms lately. Be safe traveling guys!

I love the Windy app. I use for checking my routes on travel days to see if we are entering an area that may be a concern (like Wyoming)

That is crazy to think you have experienced your first tornado watches ever! We are use to being in watches a lot, but being from Arizona we would guess they are extremely rare there! Be safe as you travel to the mid-west!

We were in Texas Hill Country for 2 weeks in mid April. We were told that May is flash flood month in Texas. There was a large hail storm northeast of us in Austin. Then a week in the Panhandle of Florida. We're in Jensen Beach for 4 months. Where can you go this time of year in an RV? We hope all of you stay safe this Summer. Brendan & Lena (hunkered down)
