RV Marker Lights: UPgrading to LED

Hey Folks! I'm still working on the Allegro and weeding out old things like fixtures and rusted/corroded components...whatever I can replace, fix and upgrade. The marker lights (as they are many!) are one of the things that I keep a look out for and have "upgraded" with LED bulbs but I will tell you those are JUNK!!! If you are going to upgrade your marker and signal lights just get new LED ones and to the work to install them. So much brighter, so much less current draw and it just makes your vintage RV look that much better. Simple and easy to do as long as you don't mix up the wires!

Thanks for the video Dan. Thanks for your come back on my question about the switches inside the main door. In my case one switch is for the passenger side porch light , and since then I have found the other switch is for the rear exterior light over the sewer system valves on the driver side. I don't have any stairwell lights except for a manual one. Last week I installed 4 -100 watt solar panels. Five lead acid batteries@ 540 what hours. Along with a 3000 watt pure sign inverter. Those panels have those batteries cooking! Full size fridge runs all day and all night no problem. As long as the sun shines LOL. Thanks again!

Glad to hear it! I'd like to take a crack at a solar setup since I have soo much roof space but the DW says we have other bills to pay....maybe a late night trip to one of those solar farms? Not with my luck!

Years ago for the LH1 I ordered one of those 12 packs with amber and red ones and they had the 2 wires and I was too lazy to return them....

Heya Dan, good to see you are still doing upgrades. I ended up selling my old allegro that was like yours. I got an 89 Basement Allegro for $300 now, i posted a video in my channel about it

First video I saw in 3 years that showed old marker lights conversion to led Good work. Like you said it's a pain dropping the wire down that hole lol I dropped mine and have been trying to figure out to make a new wire or try to fish it out haha 😄 😅

Yeah, you think it's simple but the little things can trip you up. I still have issues with some that don't make a good ground connection so they can light up 100%.

@@drlong08im a young guy making the most of my off time I know these things electrical chew up your time. I've got a 86 chevy motorhome got right before pandemic after surgery as a project my regrets is the old saying " if it ain't broke don't fix it " lolol should have listened to my elders lolol

Will these lights not work on an RV that's fiberglass?

Great question!!! If you don't have a way to ground them on the frame of the RV, then you need 2 wire ones to allow you to run the circuit back to ground. I'm lucky to have a metal framed RV with aluminium siding, most have a wood framed one and fiberglass. It does have it's drawbacks such as bad cell reception while inside.
