In this video, we will cover the latest RV and travel data news. 2022 ended on a low note for the RV industry, as expected, as production has slowed and inventory continues to sit on dealer lots. This last week, we were able to attend the Florida RV Supershow in Tampa and will review the latest innovations and discuss pricing and quality issues. ‪@FRVTA‬

Now you tell me! Purchased a Forest River in September 2022 based on salesman saying pricing will be going up. Ugh!!! Still, I'm very pleased with my purchase and the service from the dealership.
@JohnMarucci
@JohnMarucci Жыл бұрын
It is refreshing to hear you are pleased with your purchase and your dealer. Having a good dealer willing to work with you after the sale is one of the more important things with RV ownership. Given Forest River has a one year warranty, you'll want to keep a close eye on any issues that may crop up and have them dealt before your one-year anniversary. All the best!

You are do right about the lack of quality in manufacturing. And nobody seems to care. I would not be displaying my product without first taking care of at least the cosmetics. Thanks for the great information John.

Do you think JAN shipments will be at or above the low from JAN 2019 of 25,540? Time will tell come 23 Jan release if they pick up or stay the same? Hope all of them are made better going forward.... great update again!
@JohnMarucci
@JohnMarucci Жыл бұрын
Thanks. My guess is that we’ll see lower than 2019 shipments for a few months. Just too much inventory on dealer lots and higher interest rates mean fewer buyers. Thanks again!

John you helped make me comfortable getting into the RV space at my "young" age. My family has traveled a ton since and I always look forward to your latest videos. We're just part-timer/weekend warriors, but I can't begin to tell you how helpful your videos have been especially when I still owned our RPod. We've been in a Flagstaff Microlite for awhile now and are extremely happy with it. It's CRAZY to see what their prices have inflated to.

I have a 2020 Keystone Bullet 243BHS. About 5K unloaded weight, just under 29' long. Just over 500 nights use and it has been pretty good other than the Dometic appliances and the slam latch door leak that was common to the Bullet line at that time.

I owned R-Pods from six years and can't recommend them given the poor materials used in the flooring. That doesn't mean there aren't ones well maintained in the market. Here is a video list only R-Pod issues and maintenance items: johnmarucci.com/r-pod-video-list/

The last week of December and first week of Jan.'23 we traveled throughout the southeast. Every RV dealer we passed, large and small, had plenty of inventory. Used RV's are also becoming more numerous on new and used car lots. The RV industry, like the auto industry is way overdue for correction. Hopefully, consumers are wiser now. We used to be RV virgins. We're not virgins now! The coming depression will sort out many of these issues, hopefully. Great job & thanks!

Great video John. With the local Jayco dealer lot flooded with new units over winter it will be interesting to see where pricing goes this spring/summer and with the used market as well.
@JohnMarucci

Likely real prices will continue to sink as they all need to get rid of stock. Issue is at what price is a new 2022 worth the risk?
@Bronco2Cj

@@JohnMarucci That is unreal with the Jayco and the keystone.. how do you not QA/QC before the show? but folks did tell me that the majority of those rigs were made at the MFGs, then straight to the show.. One unit I saw at the show was the KZ Connect C191MBSE.. some kid easily broke the murphy bed at the hinge so it required sale rep assistance.. So once we got the bed down so I could try it out to make sure I fit and it works, as I moved toward the front to get off the bed, it collapsed and I slid off.. and the front of the bed slightly cut the back of my leg. KraZy.. however is there a way to find out how many Travel trailers, motorhomes etc sold at the show? I wasn't really impressed at all with the pricing. Please advise.
@JohnMarucci
@JohnMarucci Жыл бұрын
I do not know how to find out exactly how many trailers were sold as transactions went through various dealers represented. To me there were a few innovative stand outs at the show but most units were not anything special. Not sure how some got by any sort of pre-show inspection. Thanks!

Always enjoy your industry analysis and insights. I was hoping to see more innovation in aerodynamics & weight reduction to reduce fuel consumption, and an improvement in overall quality. It appears the European manufactures are way ahead of the USA in towable and class c motorhome design.
@JohnMarucci
@JohnMarucci Жыл бұрын
One thing I haven’t seen is weight reduction. It seems most models are getting heavier with walkable roofs, solar panels, steady steps, etc. I think the industry looks at pickup trucks getting larger and act accordingly.

Really depends on price and how handy you are and your ability to handle problems. I’d buy a new ATC or InTech trailer if the price were right. Step above most others.

Makes sense, especially if you have your R-Pod dialed in. I know many R-Pod owners who have done lots of work to get them where they want. Starting over is hard to imagine after countless hours upgrading a good used trailer. All the best!

@JohnMarucci
@JohnMarucci Жыл бұрын
I have to admit, that all the new RV's I've bought have had warranty work and my R-Pod 179 had serious structural issues within two years. On my current trailer, the 2020 Keystone Bullet, almost every appliance has had problems. It has taken a few years to get things where I want. Buying new is not for the faint of heart, even when they aren't making many. Thanks for the comment!
@thestooges333
@thestooges333 Жыл бұрын
Not so sure. At least if it’s new you got a warranty. But you buy used you have no warranty. If you know you’re selling would you spend thousands to fix things out of your own pocket I doubt it I wouldn’t that’s for sure. And you don’t know if a used one is takin care of either. Winterized , bearings greased, roof etc.
@1Whipperin
@1Whipperin Жыл бұрын
You have to inspect the used unit as you do the new. You can get repair records from the used owner too. RVs like everything else are built cutting a few more conrners each year. Depreciation is the greatest on a new RV.
