You know you could have stopped the video when you lost power on the cord but you didn’t! You went above and beyond to explain why you have no power with a continuity test as proof. I try to install that in all my hvac techs I train that you need to understand why and not “there’s the problem… fixed”. Well done!

This was helpful. It gives me a starting point. My 12v system seems to be fine. Nothing on 110/115v side will stay operable. Just got this RV a couple months ago and already running into electrical issues.

I bought an 81 RV and had to spend about $1,400 on having the clearance lights rewired and replaced, plus some other wiring issues under the dashboard.

outstanding! thanks for the video. my friend was powering an rv from an external generator - and there was a (floating neutral?) issue : the voltage read 239V and he was smelling burning. any suggestions? thanks

I have the same problem! Plugged into my 30 amp and started smelling burning. Checked my 30 amp outlet to see it’s running 240 volts and smelling like smoke

This is not good. You have more than likely damaged the circuit boards on most of the equipment. Everything should be checked by a qualified RV technician.

Lou, I had the same problem with my 5 year old Furrion power cord. It’s a bad design by manufacturer. To much stain on the electrical wires in the cable.

OMEGA should be used when you know what resistance you're looking for ( or not) in conjunction with the sound continuity.

Why do some RV's have a larger size black 15 amp blade fuse for the radio? I dont know what type of fuse this is because its slightly larger than a regular size blade fuse and its black, normal 15 amp blade fuses are blue. I think its an automatic reset black radio fuse 15 amp, but not sure.

I have not seen a special fuse for the radio, however, it sounds like you are describing a Dometic 31393 15 AMP Breaker Kit. That is an auto reset fuse.

My rv keeps disconnecting from shore power and going to the batteries I roll over the generator without starting and goes back to shore power what could it be brand new transfer switch

Start at the beginning. Make sure you have continuous power at pedastol outlet. Check power cord it could have a broken wire that is intermittent, check wiring at plug on RV, etc. You just keep going in the path of electric to RV. Don't assume anything.

@RV Habit on our first camping trip (1 night) to work out the bugs. We lost 30 amp power but then came back on for a while, then cut out again. I had replaced the plug on the end of our main cord in the past which could be a problem. But I've had it plugged in at home for quite awhile with no problems. Another problem we discovered is the propane tank had leaked completely out over the course of 10 months. I have it back in the propane dealership checking for leaks. They had done some repairs to it in the past. Thirdly on our first trip, the engine wouldn't start at one stop for food. I checked the battery connections and the ground wire had come loose. It's like everything happened on our first trip out. It's a 1981 Chevy C class. Runs great with only 52,000 miles on it.

No the power cord supplies 120v to the RV so no outlets worked. RVs have two separate power sources. 120v and 12v. The power cord supplies what you would consider typical household power like the outlets, microwave, AC, etc.

05 pleasureway Lexor RD chevy 3500. No house power w/ generator onan2800,except house battery power stuff. I have shore power & house battery power. w/ generator on measured Voltage erroneous readings no 120VAC on breakers or 12VDC on fuses. shore power cords which I connected to coach 1st then to household Outlet. Result 124VAC on all breakers from neutral bus bar to breakers lugs & from negative green& bare wire bus bar to lugs, to each fuse 13.4VDC.also the GFI circuit in bathroom came on w/ test lamp. Additionally the air conditioner powered up so did microwave oven however no joy w/ Furnace still can’t hear blower or igniter.thremostate is getting 12VDC. house battery a deep cycle group 27 12.9VDC starts generator. Edit: when on shore power w/ AC on for about a minute I did hear the converters fan come on for maybe 2 minutes then off so I assume the convertors internal fuse is good? The generators Onan 2800 fuel filter is jammed up on the breaker due to a fuel line to short. I suspect w/ little vibration the generators breaker is turning off bc of fuel filter I think I’ve flipped it back up to on position & it’s turning itself off. I’d like to extend this fuel line & move it off the switch, anyone know the size of this fuel lines inside diameter? attached image of where I think the fuel filter should be located.Thanks for advice it is much appreciated.

Very similar except 50 Amp has two hot legs at 120v. If your unsure how that works have a qualified tech check it.

@@RVHabit I know how it works ,,,my r v has lost power for some reason over the last few weeks i have a little going in ,,, i have checked the breaker and the one on the rv . I watched your video and didn't think about the power cord ,it stays in that bend position also so i will be checking that .

Oh then you can test the same way. Test each leg with the neutral and then the ground. Good luck.

I have a small Braxton Creek HD 10 teardrop trailer that’s modified to go off roading, The dealership I got it from is kind of ridiculous I can’t get any info from him when I plug my cord from my trailer into the wall of my garage and I use an adapter that plugs into a regular socket, after it’s plugged in for a little while there’s two LED lights apparently the green light is supposed to be on but the green and red light is on and it states on a tag on the cord that green and red means hot/neutral reverse and I don’t have a clue what that means? And the only instructions it gives is to notify The park maintenance staff which I guess they’re stating if you’re at a campground which I’ve never had a campground I’m in the back country on my trips other than being plugged into my garage all the time, do you know what this means if this makes any sense? I’ve only noticed this in my garage and it’s very rare I hook up to a generator. Thanks for the awesome video👍

I believe you are talking about a surge protector that is on the trailer indicating the hot and neutral are reversed. My first suspicion is the garage outlet is wired incorrectly. You should start there and have the outlet checked. If the outlet checks out ok then check the wiring to the surge protector. That wiring may be reversed.
