We built a pull-out bed for my daughter's 6'x10' cargo trailer, and it turned out great! It's strong, easy to use and would work well in vans also. I'm sure that it can be improved upon, but this should give you another idea on what's possible for your own build.

Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If your into being off-grid and boondocking, or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. Come on along, we're happy to have your company!

I'm thinking about building a queen size Murphy bed into my cargo trailer conversion so I can have much more space to move around in the trailer during the day. I need to make as much movement room as possible so I can drive my electric wheelchair in and be able to turn it around so it's ready to go right back out with my wheelchair.

It just dawned on me, Rick. You remind me of my Daddy! That has nothing to do with age, because you and I are within a couple of years of each other, I think. Daddy could build anything, including the house I grew up in. He passed away way too young. He was only 56, I was 10. He was a good man, as are you! Nice build, btw! I gave up a year's worth of thinking and perusing Element builds, and settled on the Coleman Ridgeline 3 cot! In 2 weeks, I'll be in Kentucky, the "LBL" as we call it, and I cannot wait! Safe travels my friends! ❤👣

I missed this video when you posted it. We're struggling trying to figure-out seating. My wife and I built pipe berths from your idea. Yes, they are comfortable. Our trailer is 7' wide and the 78" pipe berth accommodates my 73" height; so well that I'm known to take naps in the trailer in the driveway. My wife is only 62 ("and a half!")" tall. The top berth is a bit of a climb for her. Now, I'm considering the fold-out bed or a deep sofa for my wife and any guest grandkids. I'll keep the pipe berth for myself.

The only addition I would make to the sliding bed would be access doors on the ends, under the platform. I don't think the strength would be compromised by adding doors, since the majority of the weight bearing is on the wall frame and the center (long side) frame. Access doors would allow equipment to be loaded under the bed while you are standing outside the trailer.

How about piano hinge the plywood pieces. That way you could have an angled back rest, plus it would be easier to fold than it is to pick up the wood and put it on top of the other piece. You could have extend the front skirt up about 1/2 inch then you wouldn't have needed to screw it down. This would allow you to lift just the plywood to access the storage without having to pull it out.
@jwagnermail
@jwagnermail 2 жыл бұрын
I also thought about a piano hinge for that section of the plywood, but then wondered if it is worth the cost of the hinge and the trouble of getting it attached straight and secure. I guess it depends on your budget and preference.

Rick, you were So Right when proclaiming that the interior of a cargo-build is Never finished, or Always up for a 'redo'. Something like that. I'm now working on my third rebuild of the bed and Thank God for all your ideas and concepts. I Cannot remember the name of those Special 'pulleys' that allow one person to lift 500-lbs. with ease?? Since Bruzetta Demands to sleep with me,🤓 I've had to redesign & rebuild the bed now three times. She is 145 lbs. and Can't get up on her own as the platform is over three feet off the floor. Any ideas??? I'm thinking rigging a harness to 'lift her hulk' up into the bed via the magic of one of those pulleys??? What a Massive Task, I'm Almost Stumped. 🤔 Onwards and Upwards, I have little choice. Hoping Linda's foot is almost ready for some Break-Dancing??? That would be one Great Video. 😂 (more info arriving in the mail soon) God Bless 🤗

She blew-out her right knee six weeks ago, and I built a ramp for the FJ but no dice, that too is an Alien. Funny Dog, but we need each other. Thanks for the Tip and the Encouragement.
