They should start floor under beds front. Now they have to trim bed front and put trim to bed to cover gap in floor.

You just need some ½" quarter round fillet to hide the gap between floor and walls, just affix to the wall or unit only so the flooring can move easily underneath. The maths is a lot easier with the metric system, no pesky fractions.

For the floor take your total width divide by width of board and start in middle . 100"W x 4.25" W = 23.52 boards across.

Good thing about the vinyl flooring is it helps with road noise and temperature control because of the built in padding and rubber backing on it! Also pretty easy to pop out and replace a single board if it gets damaged later on, so be sure to store all the leftover flooring somewhere laid down flat!

It’s not finished without the trim. The spacers will have to be removed, but what will hold the flooring from moving. In a house, the flooring isn’t moving. It is only expanding and contracting.

Nice job! My head was scrambled at the memory of what calculations like that do to me! I know it's too late now, but for anyone reading this and doing a similar thing, you could make a pattern of the floor from newspaper and then use that as a template to lay potential floor arrangements on before cutting. It would save on brain scrambling numbers but don't forget to double check measurements of any finished arrangements before cutting. Good luck!

Guys- the floor should be the absolute last thing you install. That allows you to beat up your sub-floor while you're finishing installing cabinets and the like. Now take that damn floor out ASAP before you mess it up. Otherwise, it's fun watching your progress.
@susie2251
@susie2251 3 жыл бұрын
They mentioned this last time. They said they knew this but for their own mental health they wanted to see progress and were just going to protect the floors as best they could. Theoretically since these aren’t glued down, I guess they could also remove them and replace them later. The hard work was in the planning and cutting.

File this under both "Too Little Too Late" and "Maybe Next Time" but what my dad used to do for a complicated floor layout was: use sheets of newspaper taped together and rough cut around objects the floor would have to go around. When complete this could be taken out onto (in your case) the garage floor and you have a good template of the floor of your van. This meant you could lay out the planking on the template that a lot of the guesswork out of things like "will 1/4in there mean I'll be under the 2in minimum over by that thing." BUT you all did it with a calculator and careful thinking so Fantastic Job! EDIT: NEVER use the template for the actual cuts! It's for eye-balling that the plan is a go and, if there's a pattern, making sure the order of layout doesn't get screwed up.

I also wonder about the height difference there - I mean, should they have carried the flooring partly UNDER the slide-out portion, so that it stays level when pulled out? That slide is now resting on the subfloor, right? The pull out section will need to be lifted about a quarter inch higher to clear the edge of the laminate when they pull it out.

@@juliuscheng5788 maybe they'll cut abit off the legs to level it out, but it might stop the slide out bit from edging it's way out due to vibration when in motion.

Congratulations on a job well done. The flooring is absolutely beautiful. You guys are so much fun. You are the first thing I look for on KZfaq every Sunday morning. It makes the whole week worthwhile, no matter what else is happening in the world. I alternately held my breath when you were struggling with the assembly and laughed out loud when you were finished and being “naughty” with your well-deserved wine and scrumptious food. I am someone who can barely assemble a simple table from IKEA. BTW, your videos are so well put together, especially the quick cuts between shots synchronized to the great music. So upbeat and energetic, like the two of you! Greetings from a Senior Citizen in Portland, Oregon.
