This brings back a lot of memories!! Some fun and some not so much. Best thing I get did was sell my Winnebago and buy into motor yacht shares!! Now when I travel I take my comfortable suv and I don’t have to worry about any of the RV problems anymore!! I simply pull up to my bnb and enjoy my holiday!! There are virtually bnb’s all over the country, honestly I would never ever invest in an RV or Motorhome again!! It seems like fun at first, you somewhat enjoy it!! But the day you sell it, is the day you realise how much easier life can be Good luck on your journey

My wife and i fulltimed for about 15 plus years and enjoyed almost every min, of it , at that time we found we could live much cheaper than owning a house , we had a ford 350 dual wheel pu and a 38 ft 5th wheel , this was in the days of much lower costs we had about 58 thousand in both . i did as you are doing see if you can do your own fixes , most dealers don`t have tecks that know much about fixing anything , ENJOY WATCHING YOUR VIDS , i envy you , OLD 84 YEAR OLD RVER . KEEP THE SHINY SIDE UP .

Watch this video on another device in its entirety. I wanted to say thank you so much for making this video. I am considering purchasing and also you answered many questions that will help me help my son and his father with their setup. There is many things that was not explained to them and we are learning. Even though may have been lengthy I'm glad it was very detailed because I learned quite a bit. I recommend video to all people who have already purchased and also those considering to purchase. Thank you again and have fun travels

You changed our lives!! We are new to 5th wheels and we’re having trouble getting the hitch to release when un-hitching. Our dealer had said to put the truck in drive and if that didn’t work to put it in reverse. All that did was scare the crap out of us. You said to put it in neutral - I’ll be darned, works like a charm! Thanks!!!

I love the methodology and lists. One thing I changed in my habits is a post-trip inspection vs pre-trip due to finding an issue with delayed a departure. Now if I find one it is addressed with plenty of time. We also cross check each other. Gives a second set of eyes.

A REALLY great video, guys! You gave us all a warning of the length (and it shows the length, when cking the bar); but, hey, y'all covered a LOT of information (very thoroughly!). LOVE your idea of T-24, T-12 and T-0; really takes it in a logical order and reduces the amount of (possible) error/missing items. Really like the idea of having it on your smartphone; don't have to carry around an Excel-type manual checklist. I appreciate the effort y'all have made to create and produce this video; you've helped a LOT of people, regardless of experience. The checklist should reduce the number of missed items; one can be easily distracted, when setting-up/breaking down at the campsite (regardless of location). Thanks, again. Be Safe!

Omg, I watched this twice and fast forward 5 months to our camp breakdown in prep for the Quartszite Rally. We fill our fresh water tank and open the outside faucet (as one does) and you guessed it, we didnt close them. Off to boondock with Grand Design. So for 3 days we've been trying to figure out why we were only getting lukewarm water. We worked with the techs here and were getting ready to order a part tomorrow, thankfully the damn brain starts to work at 10 PM and this video comes back! Hubby googled, yep! Best hot shower ever!

A trick for the sewer that doesn't or can't screw on. Get a water clamp/ strap that tightens by a 5/16 screw so you can reuse it for a very long time. Run a big/ long zip tie inside the strap before tightening and over the top of your 90 degree connection. This will guarantee a more secure connection and can't be bumped out by someone or their pet and it lays on top of the ground making a mess until you find it.

I've watched this one several times. 1st wrote it down exactly, as close as I could, then downloaded the checklists, rewatched the video while I made corrections and re- wrote correctly in my phone notes. Now I've re-watched it, making modifications based on my rig. I think I've now got my checklist down correctly, in the correct order etc. Watching, writing, repeat x2 has been very helpful to me in feeling confident that I can manage, as I do it by myself. I love the fact that the lists are spaced apart!! I've done RVing since 4 years old, I've had 2 motor homes, a tent trailer, and 30' Mallard as an adult. Now I have a truck and 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch (not an adapter) and LOVE the auto level!! However, it's still a process to hitch or hitch, not to mention maintain a rig like this!! I'm happy for all the checklists, phone reminders (check brakes, lube bearings, grease wet bolts etc are all calendered with reminders!). Thanks for all the GREAT VIDs on the how to and where to sides!!!

Just watched this video of camp set-up and tear down - Nice Job. Seriously, it brought several things to mind that my wife and I never thought about. While our rig is much simpler, a lot of what you did is easily transferable to our situation. Wish I better understood internet information, watched that video as well, and yeah - technology remains a challenge. Oh well, old dogs and all that. One thing I was surprised by was your use of a bungee style safety chord on the hitch - they look fantastic - colored, neat, but by the time that chord tightens enough to pull the pin and activate your rigs brakes - well - measure it sometime. You might be less comfortable with it after that - or you might decide its still worth the trade off, just be aware those are often not ideal because they do stretch. Thanks again. Fun watching you two - you have worked to gain a unique style of combining information with entertainment that makes watching the two of you addictive.

As a truck driver who does alot of what is known as in the Industry "Drop n Hook" besides doing a visual inspection of the 5th wheel bar , release mechanism do a tug test to be sure you are actually hitched. Be sure if your parked in a camp spot if at your primary residence that your 5th wheel plate doesn't have debris on/ in it. Check that you don't have snow or ice as this will effect your 5th wheel. You might and this happens more often in trucking to even experienced drivers too

I am so glad that I found you. We have been full time for 19 months for my husband's job (we contracted to put the camper in place). We finally got a truck and are trying this monster (41' Keystone Montana and 3500 Dually Chevy Silverado) on the road for the first time this weekend. I am terrified that we haven't done enough pre-planning. It's probably been 20 years since my husband pulled anything (only short/ 10 mile or so runs.... not a fifth wheel). I wish we had time to go to a parking lot to practice, but.... we are only going to a State Park about 15 miles from where we are. Our main goal on this trip is to practice the breakdown and set-up. I guess this trip is the practice driving and parking, it will just be in a campsite instead of a parking lot. This whole setup is so we can travel full-time when my husband retires Fall 2020. I can't wait to be comfortable enough to be on the road full time. Practice, practice, practice!!!

Great video... Something I was thinking about... With the back ramp acting as a "patio", if there's a heavy rain and the deck gets wet, are there any issues with water pooling inside the coach when the door is closed?

Thanks, Ken! We've had ours down in very heavy rain. We leave it down most of the time. Just inside the 3 season doors, there's an incline into the garage. But we've never even seen any water at all come in the doors. Would have to be tropical storm like winds, in which case we'd just close the ramp / door. Thanks for watching!

😳 aaaaaand comment #1,000 - wow! 😳 Still enjoy the thought and detail you guys put into this video including planning and editing, well done! This information inspired our own pre-flight check-lists. The one thing we’ve added is a leaf blower for clearing the crap out from under the toppers as well as any other junk on the roof. Works well too for clearing leaves out of campsites in the fall prior to backing in so that we minimize any mishaps with junk left from the uncaring previous campers, as well as keeping the fallen leaves outside the RV. DeWalt makes one now so we don’t need extra batteries. Keep up the great work you two, you’re appreciated 👍 Safe Travels & Happy Camping 😎

Take a look at roller blade wheels to replace the stock wheels on your office chair. They're a game changer. Love your channel. Soon as I found it I couldn't wait to go home and show my wife, saying, "This needs to be our goal!".

Subscribed! My wife and I have an older 2008 Tahoe (toy hauler, 29' actual) and we only bought it roughly two years ago. I had never owned an RV before, and am _still_ learning things to this day. Your channel has helped me tremendously in only the past two days that I've watched! I can't thank you enough, and I look forward to playing catch up with all of your video archives, and seeing new ones :)

Love, love, love your video. One thing that I did in my trailer which might help is, in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, I took a small piece of wood and painted it, and glued it to the front edge of each shelf that does not have a ledge to keep things from falling out.

Thank you. Just bought a fifth wheel. This was very informative and helpful. I was able to watch this video while having my morning coffee, priorities, and wasn’t that long to me. I appreciate you sharing your journey. Have fun. Hi from Salem Oregon.

Love you guys. We just purchased a new 5th wheel, and because we're only use to tow behind trailers and truck campers we took your check lists and made modifications to fit our needs. Thank you soooo much from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to educate us all. I have the check lists separated, saved and printed, and now sending to our phones. You two are a wealth of information.

I honestly didn't think I would sit thru an hour video of how to to break camp as we have been campers for over fifteen years. I am so glad I did. We just purchased our first fifth wheel and will be leaving on our annual Colorado trip later this week. You have a ton of great points in this video and I will be adopting them starting with this trip. I love the checklist on your phone. As a former Navy vet and an aircraft mechanic this checklist only makes sense. Thanks again for the great video.
