Changing Lanes

One thing we were concerned about before we started living in our RV and traveling full time was finding locations to camp. We just plan ahead, and this is how we do that!
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Click Show More ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
UPDATE (November 2019): We still LOVE our Rand McNally GPS, but TechnoRV has switched to Garmin. See this article (changinglanesrv.com/techno-rv...) for more details.
UPDATE (August 2020): We decided to try out the Garmin so we could see if it's something we can recommend. We've used it for a couple of travel days now and really like it! Nothing really different in the actual routing, but the user interface is a bit more intuitive to use. So far, we really like it! changinglanesrv.com/garmin
We'd heard lots of warnings about never getting into national parks, state parks, etc. Well, we were in over 45 locations last year all over the East coast of the U.S. and about 15 so far this year out west. We've never had an issue finding a site, and we've stayed in Campgrounds, RV Parks, State Parks, USACE (US Army Core of Engineers) Sites, etc. Yes, National parks are much more size restricted, but there are plenty of big rig friendly parks outside the national parks! We just plan ahead, and this is how we do that!

########### UPDATE ####################
As this video was in editing, we got the following update from RV Trip Wizard:
We have two significant product releases/tie-ins coming out. Within a few weeks we’ll be releasing an update to Trip Wizard that includes true RV-safe routing, taking into consideration not just height, but length, width, propane (or not), tunnels, bridges, etc. It will also allow custom settings on a per trip basis, so if you want to plan a trip without the RV, or with a different RV you can, without messing up your global settings. The other big release is our RV Life App 2.0. It’s actually out now for IOS, but it’s been a soft release. RV Trip Wizard customers will be able to get this app for $10 and will allow them to access the trips they have created in RVTW, as well as turn-by-turn GPS, access to all of the campground data, articles, and even offline maps for any or all states they wish for full access when no internet signal is available.
We had a chance to play around a bit with the RV Life App, and it looks very promising!

What a wonderful informative video! Thanks so much for all the tips and App suggestions. Like you, we are BIG planners as well. Google street/satellite view is our best travel friend for sure. We always map out our route and plan weeks in advance too. I've heard of co-pilot and have been wanting to give it a try. Mainly for rest stops and low clearance bridges. We'll also sometimes use Allstays, but after watching your video, I'm now very intrigued with the RVtrip planner website. It looks so much more user friendly and I like the very clean UI and interface. When we bought our Grand Design, comfort was the main motivator for us too. I (Jason) personally don't like backing into sites, so we always (plan in advance), and go to places that have pull-through sites. Staying inside a National Park is not a big deal for us either just as long as we can still go in the truck and enjoy the landscapes. Thanks for sharing guys! Another lovely video! Thanks for all you do. Safe Travels and happy Glamping! Peace & Love! Have a Glamtastic Day! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🧡

I bought my TST TPMS from TechnoRV and it works great. I’ve got the cap monitors on my truck and trailer so when I’m not towing the trailer I know how my truck tires are doing. As soon as it’s in range of my trailer it picks those tires right up. TechnoRV’s instructional videos are amazing. This 59 year old single gal programmed and installed it myself!!

Rand McNally has come a long way in the past few years. The trucking company I drive for has the older TND760 commercial use navigation, messaging, and logging units. I’m liking the updated graphics of yours. The older McNallys looked like an elementary school class drew and colored the maps. Looking into retiring with a class A or larger C (30-35ft) in about 4-6 years. I’m loving the information you and a few others are putting out there to help getting my ducks in a row. OMG! We learned a valuable lesson on using trip wizard. We tried to plan our trip and we thought it would be easy to plan EVERY stop. We learned that we need to plan on what we want to see and where we want to spend the night not every rest stop of filling up with gas. Of course we stop every 2 hours. Our trip is going to be about 3,500 miles totally.

I use my Garmin Dezel trucking GPS. It gives you the option to set the length and height of your tow rig and well help prevent you from going down the wrong roads. Works great for 18 wheelers as well. Great info guys.

Great video as always, absolutely loved the walk through of Google Maps, RV trip wizard and the GPS. Thank you, thank you, thank you. On a side not, not sure if you guys heard but Bailey's Camping Resort lost there restaurant and gameroom building to a fire last week. So sad hopefully they rebuild soon. Ride safe and have fun.

And it's funny you picked Victor to stay for your Grand Tetons trip in your demo, that's where my family is from. If you haven't gotten there yet, you need to!

Just got back from a weekend trip to Grand Lake Colorado. We stayed at the Winding River Resort in our 44’ Fuzion 5th wheel Toyhauler. I would recommend this rv park for your big rig. Paved all the way to the park entrance. Park offers numerous activities including ATV rentals on site, horse back riding on site, hay rides, and pancake breakfast. Loads of fun especially the ATVing right outside the park.

You are the bomb! Timely advice on the GPS - we have been using a Garmin 660 - just received the 760 and it is DOA. We will look into the Rand unit for sure! Keep the outtakes - they show us that you are REAL people! :)
