Another good tip on water hoses is when you disconnect attach both ends of your hose together, it keeps dirt, dust and bugs out of your hose while driving so it's clean when ready to use.

Hi, this was somewhat helpful and I absolutely agree, it's important to know how your coach works. Unfortunately, mine didn't come with any manuals and even the manufacturer could only send me one from the year after mine was built. There's a brief paragraph explaining how to fill the fresh water tank but when I go out an look at things, what was written doesn't make any sense. Any ideas or suggestions?

I didn't know it was ok to leave the pump on while the faucets are closed. You can hear the pump building up pressure. Guess I'll go try it, and see if it shuts itself off, or busts a pipe/pump burns out.

I just found that my water pump takes the water from my holding tank and spits it out the city water hookup resulting in no toilet flushing or galley faucet water. Any ideas? Thank!!

Thanks for all you tips, is it ok to leave you water pump on most of the time while in the rv, and also a good idea to run your water heater all the time or shut it off when not in use
@anthonysigman6138
@anthonysigman6138 2 жыл бұрын
This is an incredibly late response but the water heater can be left on all the time unless you just want to turn it off to save energy/fuel during a long period of not using it. It uses very little when idle though. Although the pump can safely be left on all the time, personally I like to turn mine off at night simply because if by some freak chance something started leaking at night and it doesn't wake me up it might save me on costly damages. That is just my two cents.

ok my water pump isn't functioning properly and I need to install a bypass valve where in the line would you suggest doing this. my city water line is going directly to my fresh water holding tank which then fills and leaks through the cap. I am told there was supposed to be bypass valve somewhere in the water line but I could not find it so I am going to install the bypass valve until I can get my water pump replaced.

Can you turn the hose on and leave it attached normally, or do you fill the system and disconnect? How do you know if your tank is full?
@RVersity
@RVersity 6 жыл бұрын
If you over fill the tank will normally start spewing water underneath. Also, there is a control inside the RV usually to monitor your tank levels. Yes you can also leave the hose attached and leave the water on. I would suggest using a water regulator for the pressure. You can use the tank fill option and add water to your fresh water tank for boondocking as well.

Mine is hooked to community water sys. No reason for the storage tank to be in operation. Yet, it's leaking out of the holding tank, and the light indicator shows the tank is full. Shouldn't the 'city' water bypass the holding tank? How can I check? (Really NEW to RV living!) Martha

So, is it correct to state that when connected to campsite water, you motorhome water pump need not be turned on, and the use of faucets will simply work due to the pressure coming from the campsite water connection? We newly started, and camped with the camp water connection, but turned on the water pump when we wanted water, thinking that the pump needed to be on to push water. Our fresh water tank level really reduced during the few days...(ok, not an issue), and I'm guessing we should simply have NOT used the pump. Evidently the pump use caused my tank depletion, and didn't use the camp water. Is this correct?

Trav Harrell 1 minute ago (edited) I have a 2006 gulfstream cavalier with no holding tanks. Two weeks ago water was coming out of my sink faucets, shower, and toilet just fine. Water hose was not disconnected from water faucet or camper between then and now. I just turn my underground water meter valve on and off to turn water on or off. This weekend nothing. I unhooked the hose from the camper and there is plenty of pressure coming out of the hose. I can put my mouth on the intake to the camper and blow and air comes out the camper sink faucet. I put the hose back on and nothing. I have been using this camper in this location for almost 6 years. Any suggestions? I left the water hose attached with full pressure for a couple of hours and nothing. water is not running under the cabinets or anywhere. Could the intake valve behind the water hookup have gone bad and not be allowing water into the camper? I don't think I even have a water pump since I don;t have holding tanks.

I have a problem getting my pump to suction the anti-freeze from the bottle. to winterize it. I had emptied all the water from the system and used 30 pounds of air to blow everything out through the low point drains and all faucets. I have the water heater bypassed and when I turn the pump on it runs but never has suction to begin to move the anti-freeze. I wondered if there was a problem with the pump but it has no problem with moving water from the fresh water tank. Any ideas?

Yes. Usually you will turn this on once you are hooked up. You will need either propane or electricity usually to heat the water as well. My unit allows for both.

Maybe the pressure is too much. But, a leak would suggest just that. Water damage is the worse. I'd suggest getting behind those walls to find the source of the problem. IKE!

When connected to city water. Why does the water flow into the water tank ? When it's full comes out from the over flow hose. It does not have a bypass valve

It's on a RV so obviously it's "portable" meaning you can take it with you. Not all portable water is potable, meaning you can drink it. That is why in this context it's important to get it correct, which is potable.
@BeefCaike
@BeefCaike 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the video is discussing the portable water system on an RV, not what kind of water is being used. They are talking about "fresh" water which also means potable.
@BrockNeilson
@BrockNeilson 8 жыл бұрын
The Portable water system on a RV holds both Potable and non-potable water. The water that comes through the toilet after you do your business. I would much rather drink the potable water than the non, but if you're all about drinking both from the "Portable" water system be my guest!
