RV DIY with Mark Polk - Protecting your RV or classic cars from the elements is important. I needed to store our vintage travel trailer outside, so I decided to build a VersaTube RV Carport. The dimensions for the RV carport are 30-feet long, 14-feet wide and 12-feet tall. This RV Storage DIY project is not difficult to do, and if you get a couple friends to help it can be done in a couple of weekends.

You don't show how to install the ridge cap. Seems like the most difficult step.

This looks DIY doable, except you skip how you access the roof-peak cap? You ant reach that from a ladder, so how would you screw that in? I doubt the roof will support a person's weight.

Yes, it does support your weight as long as you keep your weight on the hat channel. Follow the instructions to install the ridge cap.

This doesnt look like it would be able to handle strong winds least where i live in southern cal.

Before I can do the financing on this, will it hold up to 50 mile an hour

They look where the structure will be located, and their engineers add any needed support. For example, we live in a hurricane zone so they added bracing to hold up to hurricane winds.

I want to do 2 of these for equipment on my farm. I afraid of what the tax man is going to say what they are worth. They don't seem to care what you paid they go by what it would cost to be built today.

I would like to install rv storage, however my concern is lengthwise the location i have gradually slopes downhill over the 30 feet ... dropping around a foot or so. Adding fill dirt to level out generates secondary issue with fence line. Thoughts?

Could you possibly use a mold to build a taller concrete pier on that end, and fill in the rest with some concrete blocks? Just a thought, but I'm not an engineer.
