Thank you Russ and all the other YT content providers like you for showing alternate, more pleasant realities to take our minds off of the insane ones gripping our urban centers. Those of us that have to live in these s**tholes appreciate the relief of escape, if only temporary. And that's all I'm gonna say about that!!

Hi Russ,Back in the 60's&70's we used to stop at Meteor City every time we went to Phoenix,Used to be a great place to stop for stuff you could't live without,Sad to see it half torn down.Looks like someone might have bought it the last time I was by there it was a big mess.

I was lucky. I got to travel Rt. 66 when all these places were alive and filled with people. Someday soon I'll be a ghost town myself, but that's ok because I got to live a bit of history that was pure Americana! Thanks Russ.

The wigwam motel was a great place to stay during our journey on Route 66. I highly recommend it. Parts of Holbrook almost had a ghost town vibe, as there are several old structures and hotels (now going to rot) still there. Thanks so much for this, Russ.

All these businesses along Route 66 that had to close because of I-40 to bad the highway Dept and state could have made I-40 to split on each side of these places so they would not have been disrupted kind of put them on an island for travelers! Enjoy your videos very much. Thanks for sharing!!

Hey Russ! Today's video reminded me of years past when I traveled out west. Wife and I would hit the road early with no destination in particular and just stop as our heart decided. Was a great time and less hectic. It was before we started our family and not a care in the world. What a great life it was. Thanks for your travel videos and reminding an old man what a great life I have had. Stay safe on your travels Russ!

🙋‍♀️Hello Russ! You had a chilly start to your day. Sure is a better time to travel, & beat the heat! I enjoy seeing all these places & small towns. I've never been to any of these places, but there is so much to enjoy when ever I do get out to your part of the world. My world was a balmy 50°ish this morning. If it made it to 60° yesterday, you had me fooled, I stayed chilled. We have an "Atmospheric Roadblock" above the Carolinas' keeping a cool front over us. Sure not complaining. Rain & thunderstorms the next 9 days, with Temps 70-80's. 1st time I ever recall putting heat on 6/17 in Southwestern Virginia. Stay on the sunnyside! Have a nice day!

I first got to drive Rt 66 in 1956 going from Phoenix, AZ to Ft. Bragg, NC and then back in 1957, then took it again from NYC to Phoenix in 1963, then again going from Monterey, CA to Washington, DC in 1975 and back to Phoenix, AZ in 1977. Then in 1992 I moved to Holbrook, AZ to work as a County Manager until 1995, so I got to see the route up close and personal. It was a lot of fun to read all the Burma Shave billboards and the ones for "The Thing" until 1965 when Lady Byrd Johnson demanded that they all be taken down as they were an eyesore.

Supposedly owned by the Browns who were looking for funding and Volunteer workers to restore it to it's former glory on a Facebook website. It would be really nice if that could happen. I had thought about it but the expense would be beyond my budget.

I tried to outrun a thunderstorm approaching the south entrance to the Petrified Forest. I flanked me and the road turned into a bed of stream...never seen anything like that before. Bought a piece of petrified wood before getting to the park which I declared that I had purchased it from private land and didn't pick up in the park.

I still recall many of these old stops and towns along 66 from 58 years ago when my recently widowed 32 year old mother threw her four young kids into the back of a 1960 station wagon driving from Buffalo, NY to California. I remember much of the highway being gravel through Arizona. The Petrified Forest was nothing more than a stop along the shoulder and you could take as much rock as your pockets could hold.

Hey Russ, long time viewers. I was thinking why can’t you vent your A/C unit threw your front fantastic fan, I am sure if cut out a circle from a square piece thin wood or ever cardboard and stick the hose into it fasten the hose to that wood/ cardboard then lift it Into the bottom of the fantastic fan, maybe magnets or some other way of keeping it up there. But I think it would be better than hanging it out the window no bugs will get in and you won’t loose any of that precious cool air. Just a suggestion. Keep on trucking.

I like your videos, but they would be better if you did a little research before you went. So you could narrate some good history. For example. in Holbrook, you blew past the Wigwam hotel without as much as slowing down. Should have taken a circular trip through the parking lot, to see all the old cool cars in front of the units. NO, it wasn't "full". Those are cars parked there as part of the effect. Then, just past the Wigwam, you said "... A steakhouse ..." but if you did any research you would have said "Butterfield's steakhouse, situated where the old Butterfield stage coach station once was, well before even Route 66 went down this road." Then, you would continue on. But you don't know the areas, and that makes your videos a little lacking. You made the same errors with Two Guns, Twin Arrows, Chloride and Meteor Crater. If you knew some, your videos would have been better. Just sayin'. Still like them, but they could be better. Thanks.
