Thank you for these videos Russ. I grew up in SoCal and my dad used to disappear on his weekends and I never knew where he was going. When I turned 14 he started taking me and my best friend. He loved the area between Laguna Dam and Picacho Peak. This was in 1970. Nobody was hanging out there back then. He would never go past Parker Strip because he said that there was too much civilization in that direction. I miss my dad and those days. Oh yeah, he loved to go froggin' in the reeds along the river. We would eat fried frog-legs for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 🐸🦆🐟❤️🇺🇲

Forgot to mention the Jabba the Hut sand barge scene from "Return of the Jedi" was filmed somewhere in these dunes. I remember reading a magazine interview years ago with the late Carrie Fisher where she talked about her experiences while filming there.

Spent many camping Trips at Tumco. Kids were young every Thanksgiving spent it there. If you would have gone left you would seen the grave yard. Tumco not much left but some walls, foundations. Mine area has the old cyanide tanks, and below them are the huge riffle plates that caught the gold. Hard to believe people lived there. Thanks for the visit.

Thanks for the tour! There's definitely a lot of history in that area. One spot that I really love is Picacho State Recreation Area, site of an old mining town on the shores of the Colorado River. There's a campground there next to the ruins of the town. Great spot for a peaceful getaway, fishing, birding and great desert scenery. The road is mostly unpaved, so it's probably not advisable for the van--but well worth the trip if you have a AWD/4WD or high clearance vehicle. Happy trails!

First of all, I LOVE all of the RVerTV adventures! ❤️ …thank you!! 😀 It was funny when you said “the van’s shaking, what the heck” 32:17 …then all of a sudden a dirt devil appears, right in front of your rig! WOW, it jumped right over the top of the van!! 🌪️ 🚐 🌪️ Love the signature “Yay” after some remarks …makes me laugh every time! 😂 Well, now you can say …Plank Road …check. While at the Official Center of the World in Felicity … Russ says, Here’s something …a pyramid …all in different languages …that one says watch RVerTV! 😂🤣 I am SO glad you backtracked to visit Felicity, and thank you for putting up the aerial photos and slides with more info about this wonderful “little” town. I researched more about Felicity and hoping to visit someday, I’m about five hours from there. We made it to Yuma Arizona …YAY! 😉 …enjoyed seeing all the places you showed us.

My grandfather moved to Blythe back in the late 1970s. I was going to college in Arizona back then, and he moved there around the same time my college boyfriend and I took a few trips to Orange County, California. We often stopped in Blythe to say hello my my grandfather. He liked Blythe, even though it was really hot in the summer. He lived in Phoenix when he was younger, before they had air conditioning, and he said Blythe reminded him a lot of how Phoenix was, back in the 1930s and 40s.

I Absolutely LOVE your VIDEOS!! We were snowbirders each year since 2009 to the very same spots you're showing in these clips! Since the C bug we haven't been able to travel to these places and we miss it SO MUCH!!! Came West through Parker to Quartzsite and then on to Imperial Dam where we stayed until it was "safe" ( temperature😉) to go home to BC seeing your videos is so awesome! We can really identify with all those places you show. Would LOVE it if you did a tour to Squaw Lake with that ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL new camera you have. I see the roads, the rocks, the trees...how we miss that. Your posts give people like us who've called that place HOME another chance to see it. A HUGE THANK YOU!! Also, your technique is perfection! Not too many voice-overs (perfect in fact) Just the right tempo, steady and no dizzying panning. LOVE the drone footage too. What can I say, WE LOVE IT! Music is also wonderful. We're FANS!

Yuma native - born there in 1953. Been to Glamis a few times and down Ogilby Road and to Ogilby. Mostly went to Buttercup Valley, rather then the Northern part of the dunes. We called the Buttercup area the "Yuma Dunes", even though it's in California. As a Cub Scout circa 1959 I walked all the way to and from Buttercup Valley out in the middle of the dunes, right off I-8 to the left (South). The Buttercup area is way better for scenery, in that it is less spoiled by sand rails and other human intervention. The valley was always pristeen, except for abandoned movie artifacts (Flight of the Phoenix & several Westerns). There were minor sand drags around Buttercup in the 60's and 70s, but not so many or so organized as in Glamis. In the 60s Yuma guys would make their own 4WD vehicles, and use WV Bugs. There were P/U Truck and Jeep conversioins with "floats" (tires). More one guy I knew would find and install a transaxel and front wheel drive member on a 2WD vehicle, and make it do. We kids then could not afford to buy a 4WD rig. BTW most of I-8 and the dunes we used are a long way from the Mexican border. Buttercup Valley is at least a mile South into the dunes, and several miles more Mexico. There are only 3 places where I-8 (Hwy 80) come close to Mexico. At the extremes around Jacumba and when you are almost in Yuma you can see the border. Then for a short stretch just West of the Buttercup where the road veers South you get close to the International boundary there too. Also, the very first roads across the desert between Yuma and points West to San Diego were in this order. Trails - Plank Road - Concrete Road (mostly in rock cutouts toward the Jacuma area where you get out of the sand and Mesquite) - 1st asphalt road - 2nd and official Hwy 80 Asphalt road (with severe dips for a few miles to allow flash flood run-off) - then I-8. A old Yuma desert rat.

I remember Yuma ,especially Yuma Pass! That was back when cars had a tendency to over heat, and seeing the cars and trucks lined up going over the pass on the side of the road to cool off was a norm. It was nothing to be at 105 degrees at three in the morning. LOL I even remember the signs saying stay off the grass, due to it being artificial and it melting to your feet.

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you do a video on the sand dunes once before? also the yuma Prison brought back a memory when I went to see the prison some years ago. they was a reader board that told of the block house in the middle of the prison. When prisoners got into fights or otherwise did something wrong they would be put into this block house. there is a hole in the roof, no windows and a solid door, any way the guards would drop live rattle snakes down through the hole in the roof. can you imagine the feeling in the dark and standing shoulder to shoulder with other prisoners' and have a snake hit you in the head?. makes you wonder who is more evil, the prisoners or the guards. the next time we went to the prison to see more, they had taken down the reader board, apparently some woman thought that was too much for her to bear
