Can't thank you enough for that video. My coach is all fibreglass & needs this done & now I know how to. Don't think I could use anything that heavy but may be something lighter? Can you clear coat right away? What do you use for that? A liquid wax?

It looks really good. I think ours will need a good buffing when, ummm, if we ever get her back from the repair shop. Just had a couple warranty things to get fixed and it's been there for 2 months! My son has a boat he has restored. He has worked like crazy to bring the shine back to it. The top of the bow has that thick clear part with glitter underneath. It looks great when it's wet, but when it dries, it's cloudy. You can't see the glitter or color under there. Any thoughts of what to do there? He has buffed, but not sure if he used wool or not. Thanks for the video!

Hi there! What product(s) would you recommend for removing the yellowing that occurs on fiberglass? I removed and replaced some of the decals on our coach and found the gel coat underneath was bright white while the surround areas were yellow. p.s. I had a RV detail shop put “Fiberglass sealer” on the coach about 2 years ago and it now looks horrible. Patchy and dull where it’s starting to wear off. Don’t think that’s the cause of the yellowing as I contacted the manufacturer who said their product doesn’t discolor.

So I put a RV cover on my RV over the winter. In the spring I noticed rub marks on the fibreglass nose cap. I tried a oxidation removal product. But the rub marks soon shone through. How aggressive can I get while trying to polish these rib marks out. Light rubbing compound?

Russ, I have a big Fifthwheel RV and it's looking pretty nasty with the oxidation. I'm regretting getting this RV now because it's to hard to keep it up. My question is when buffing do you have to change out the wool pad or just leave it on until you've removed all the oxidation? Ant info. Or tips that you can give me will be truly appreciated. Thanks. By the way, my Fifthwheel is a 36 foot Titanium made in Canada by Douglas RV. They have been outta business for some years now....

I just finished buffing out oxidation on my RV. Took me 4 weeks. But I was told (and I used) to use a foam buffing pad. I had some synthetic wool pads that didn't work as well as the foam pads. I never tried real wool pads. So in your experience, have you tried the coarse 3M foam pads and compared them to wool? I will get a real wool pad if it will make a difference. Thanks.

@@rvertv Thanks but I think you misunderstood my question. I wanted to know if you have ever used the foam pads and if they are better or worse than the REAL wool pads, plus, is there a difference between real wool and synthetic wool pads.

As the guy who designed that DeWalt; the speed for cutting should be 600-800 rpm max (unless your pad is perfectly balanced and in a large area) Turtle wax is, um... Not great. Compound is WAY more than just a "liquid to lubricate the pad" I love your vid for how it was done but as far as the how-to part, I'll just say, many ways to skin a cat.

My friend, I am never one to post a negative comment. However, in this case your instructions regarding buffing are 100% incorrect and could result in someone damaging their fiberglass. I didn't watch the whole video but there was 2 completely wrong comments. First, you should never use a wax with a wool bonnet. It absolutely is not the same thing as a compound, which contains various levels of micro abrasives depending on the product. Using wax with the a high speed wool buffer will never result in a proper finish because the powdery residue from the dried wax will just mar the finish and possibly be driven deep into the porous fiberglass surface. And secondly, YOU NEVER EVER EVER keep the wool bonnet completely flat when buffing. It produces too much heat and will always result in a terrible finish with holograms and swirls at the very least. With wool, you always buff with only the leading edge touching the surface. Only a foam pad should be flat. But good luck to you. I admire your enthusiasm to help folks out but you really gotta make sure you're providing correct information with some things.
