the last time i was in ardmore was in 1963, i was 13 years old and we stopped to see my great grandmother who at the time was 95, then went on to prescott arkansas to spend two weeks with my grandparents, learned how to drive in arkansas on a 1940s jeep. one of the best vacations ever.

Our favorite place to go in Ardmore, two of our grandchildren love going there. I have roller skated there. The airport at Gene Autry was an Air Force base there was a WWII POW camp across the red river to the north west of Gainesville Tx

The museums there are fabulous. I have been to Oklahoma City, I was younger. You have taught me to not stay on the highway and to up my research on the cities I am traveling to, thanks.

I love the stone on the outside of the building! Yes it does take a lot to maintain and set up museums, thankful for all that are involved! I drove through the panhandle and enjoyed it. I didn't have to pay close attention to driving since I am the only one on the road, haha hello to the guy in the mirror waving, hi Russ I lived in Euless Texas with my parents in 1969-1971. Between Dallas and Ft Worth. Stay safe and happy traveling.

Born and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma. I live just out of town. My dad was in the 45th Division and this was his armory. They were activated in 1950/51 for the Korean War. I remember roller skating there in the late 50s/early 60s when I was a boy. My family on both sides have been here since Indian Territory days. Our family has donated a pie safe and few other items that belonged to my great grandmother.

2:02 The GREATER SOUTHWEST HISTORICAL MUSEUM was fantastic! Thank you for showing us a great tour! (No worries if the interior space is dark, we can see enough and it’s interesting to see the ambience of a dimly lit room. 👍). Thanks RUSS!

Another back road, another small town, another great museum! I know from personal experience it's possible to suffer from "museum overload" on long road trips, but this one was definitely worth a stop. As you say, local museums are the best--there's always a gem or two (or three...) that you won't see anywhere else. Love the skeleton at the dining room table !🙂 Despite the unexpected repair stop, this summer's adventure has been a great success for us viewers. Have a safe trip home and happy trails!

The museum is worth the visit. My boss showed my photos of a sock hop in 1957 at hi school in Gainesville (TX) televised by KVSO-tv out of Ardmore (Ok) that moved to Denison (TX) and became KXII.

That was a really nice local museum. Nice tribute room to military/space. That town was hit with a fire in the late 1800s, and an explosion of a fuel tank in the 1900s, amazing that so many items were left for the museum. Enjoyed. 🙂👍

Hello from the bottom of the world Russ (New Zealand), too bad you and your RV can’t find your way down here huh lol … Anyways, I’m the wrong side of 71 and have always been fascinated by, and wanted to visit the USA, never have and it is now exceedingly unlikely that I ever will, but your videos take me there from the comfort of my lounge and I’m always warm and dry lol. Love your videos, love your outlook on life, love your sense of humour and the way you use the humour, keep up the great work … so “let’s go and check it out, yay” lol

Ardmore is a crazy place, where black people act wild in public, at dining rooms in fast food places, and almost ALL of the black people live on one side of the R.R. tracks, and all the white people live on the other side.. some scary gangsters living there, pitbulls on chains in front yards, etc... at least that was what it was like back in 2005.
