Russ, your video's are simply outstanding. From what I can tell, without having the scent or aroma of the poppy, these appear to be California Poppy's. Like what you've shown here, it's just like what you can see traveling north on I-15 from northern San Diego thru Lake Elsinore and up to Corona in Riverside county. A couple of weeks of good rain, and the hillsides come alive with beautiful flowers.. Thanks again......

Yaay, PMiller you are the first to name the flower in the commonly accepted manner. It is the California Poppy and it is since 1903 the official state flower there. Eschscholzia californica

For most Americans this road RT, 66 has a special, emotional feeling, & is significant in our families history. For foreigners who come here, it is just a spot on a map. Obviously they cannot have the love for it, as it has no heartfelt meaning to them. I did drive on the original route when I was 4, and, I certainly remember it. I love it!

If you or anyone you know, love to see the super blooms that happen every year. Send them over to Golden Village Palms RV resort! There about 10 minuets from Diamond Valley Lake. Located in Hemet California. The whole lake is surrounded by massive amounts of Wild flowers so much so, that you can hardly see any dirt left on the mountains. It really is one of the most beautiful sights ever! We get the super Bloom mostly March and April! It would be awesome see another video like this!

They're called Mexican poppies, and they are beautiful. I was born and raised in Phoenix and I don't recall ever seeing this much of a super bloom. Arizona does have draught and flood cycles, and it's been one heck of a twenty year draught cycle. I can't recall a draught cycle lasting this long either. It's too soon to tell if the draught is over or not, as this year could be a fluke, but I sure appreciate you taking the time to put this video together. I now live in Texas. We've had a lot of rain as well, and my roses are going bonkers.

Lake Havasu City AZ here. My wife and I took a drive up to Oatman from LHC at the same time, if not the same day, as you made this video. Great job. A beautiful day, a great super bloom, and we had our 5 year old grand daughter with us. I had given her the book about Oatman's honorary Mayor a few years ago so she really enjoyed meeting some of his fellow burros.and getting a stuffed burro (she loves stuffed animals) at one of the shops. I saved your video to reference that trip because my wife and I ended up with dead phones, so thank you very much! Am looking forward to your future videos.

Almost kinda wish you hadn’t shown the memorial spot as many will probably bring their kids there that will break stuff but I’m glad you got to experience it. I am 30 now, have been going to that spot since I was 12 on trips out west with my family. My grandfather who lived out there has a memorial there. Appreciate your respects not wandering through as many leave valuable / fragile things that get brittle in the sun.

You are right, too many kids today seem to want to destroy everything. Maybe they should put up a sign that anyone who damages the area will be fined. I know if I am up there and see anyone messing around they may have a cross up there as well. Take care.
