Their mother is the same, Summer Rose but Ruby's dad is the question, so they are half sisters as in same mother but not same fathers. And people think Qrow is Ruby's father because prob there is no better person in the series so far who could of, well, had a relationship with Summer. There is also a video on how that might have been a possibility.

@@giantturtlecat2959 There was a video on it by Eruption Fang. At least he was one of the people explaining it. Basically, they have the same hair color, similar mannerisms, both wear crosses and wield scythes, and it's Qrow that breaks important news to Ruby such as the meaning behind her Silver Eyes. It's thought that Qrow isn't around as her dad like Tai is because of his semblance.

They giving us a hint of Qrow being the father to Ruby? They practically gave the bird transformation to us in Chibi before the actual story did. Actually instead of ruby being qrow's daughter which monty oum confirmed that she isn't, I think that summer rose aka Ruby's mom had a similar weapon like Ruby, and that's why Ruby wanted to learn how to use a Scythe. Other than or they just had uncle niece hanging out there times.

Its a logical theory, everything from Ruby's fighting style, choice of weaponry. outfit, hair colour, and even her personality matches well with Qrow. In addition its quite clear that she has a deeper relationship with Qrow over her own dad. Until we learn more about Summer Rose and team STRQ the question will continued to be raised.

El Chupacabra06 Taiyang is Ruby's father. I believe Qrow trained Ruby and that's why her fighting style and weapon is similar to his. Ruby's mom, Summer Rose, also had red and black hair so that's where Ruby got it from.

Yes Taiyang is Ruby's father though Qrow could have easily been her true biological father. Its quite hard to believe that Tai would make Raven pregnant with Yang then one year after she leaves Tai then gets Summer pregnant with Ruby. Yes its possible though unrealistic, therefore we need to know Summer's and Qrow's relationship as Qrow seems like the type to get Summer pregnant and have her and Tai raise Ruby while he continues to work under Ozpin.

Except in this case the only person from Qrow's side of the family that the two have had any interaction with is Qrow himself, so in this particular case the use of "They get it from your side of the family" instead of "they get it from you" might actually be hinting at the fact that both girls have a blood relation to Qrow.

From what we've seen in the show, Qrow is shown to be closer to Ruby than Tai is since he's the one who trained her. The same can be said about Tai and Yang. Henceforth, Qrow is there to act as Ruby's Parent while Tai is there as Yang's

The relationship has always been that it's Tai + Raven = Yang, and Tai + Summer = Ruby. They got their mom's looks, but since their mothers A: Left and B: Died, they got how they act almost completely from their Dad (Hyper and Super Upbeat) but Ruby got her fashion sense from hanging around Qrow so much.
