Cheap upgrade time! :)
I am fixing up this MST RMX2.0s as an "RC Drift Rescue Mission" for a friend.
While looking it over, noticed one of the shocks was bent/binding.
Went with this Yeah Racing QUTUS damper set (amzn.to/3ptcZNY) because the price was really reasonable and a guy at our local track had tried them and was happy.
All I can say - ME TOO!
They assemble great, have some nice features, and work very smoothly!
A budget alternative for drift shocks for sure!

Great review @roadsiderc you explained my thoughts exactly. I've been using these dampers for about 6 months now and with a little bit of tuning they're a great value proposition over some of the more expensive options. The only difference I had while assembling is that I used Associated green goo to seal the bottom O ring instead of the shock oil. Thanks for the content. Another great vid.

Thanks! I really do need to get some green goo for as many shocks as I build.

@@RoadsideRC I can't recommend it enough. I have had zero leakage and they feel just as fresh as when I built them. Something you didn't cover in the video that I did was sanding the burrs off of all the stuff on the plastic trees. This really helped with the overall smooth feel of the damper. Again though they're a fantastic value over a lot of dampers with less features.

Thanks! I think they could benefit from some longer rod-ends for sure. It would at least partially cheat the length and help them out.

Yeah racing sell a set for "touring cars" in 60mm length. The springs they come with are a bit stiff for drifting but should fit your stock springs which will work great

Looks good man I'm on the fence of buying the aluminum MST upgrade for mine I can say this though my buddy just got a yokomo that I put together for him and I like the diaphragm seal that goes under the top of the cap it's transparent so you can tell if you have any air trapped underneath of it

So would you recommend the yeah racing 60 mm big bore go damper version instead of the 55mm qutus for the rmx. I'm thinking about getting the RMX 2.0 And want to get some better looking shocks when I get it. I'm really into the customizing side and making it look good That's the only reason I would switch them lol

It could use longer shocks for sure. I have not used the yeah racing big bore shocks, so hard to say specifically.
@taimaishu-nao1922

The QUTUS is just an evolution of the Big Bore Go dampers but offers much easier shock piston tuning versus the BBG which you would have to do traditionally by removing the “Jesus clips” and swapping out the piston. That’s the big difference with the QUTUS (which stands for “QUick TUning System”; QUTUS). The Big Bore Go is basically their pre-assembled, ready to go damper set. It’s exactly like the QUTUS, apart from the piston and it’s pretty much a drop-in replacement and all you do is add the oil, be it the 300cst that comes with them or a weight of your choice. Otherwise, it’s the same between them. Same springs, collars, diaphragm, shock ends, etc. The shock body, shafts and pistons are the only things that aren’t the same. Do be advised that the 50mm and 55mm parts are interchangeable between them. Not sure about the 60mm. As for which length to get, that depends on the ride height you want. The MST stuff like many other 1/10 touring cars, are set at 55mm. Go higher if you need more dampening or shorter if you want your car low. In either direction, do so at 5mm increments. Hope this helps.

@RoadsideRC
@RoadsideRC 2 жыл бұрын
The key for me is the DX5 allows you to assign the random switches on the controller to whatever channel you want. This allowed me to assign one of them to the Aux1 on the receiver, and allows you to control that channel in both the positive (+) and negative (-) directions. For the Futaba GYD450 gyro that I prefer, this is HUGE. It unlocks a key feature for that gyro. Special preview for you: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y8t3ZtqD0sDOh2w.html

There must be something binding, or causing extra friction. Check the pistons to make sure they slide smoothly up and down. Should take almost zero force.
