Congratulations. You had a dream day at the summit. Some things have already changed at the glacier, but everything seems very known to me ;-) Best regards, Jörg

Great video, can't wait until I trek this trail! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us, it helps with preparing for what's to come. When were you there? We plan to embark mid-August 2020.
@welchre14 жыл бұрын
We hiked June 28th - July 5th. It was a late rainy season most other places in Uganda but we were just so blessed with the weather. We had 2 hours of rain one night while we slept. Otherwise it was dry the entire time! Beyond our wildest expectations.

Great video! I was wondering whether you had extensive technical climbing experience before doing this?
@welchre1 Жыл бұрын
No. We had a group of 4 and I was the only one with rock climbing experience. The rest of the group was all very inexperienced, albeit in good physical condition as it’s quite rigorous.

Could you speak a bit to the guides/porters you trekked with? Also, choosing to hike the Kilembe trail vs the Central Circuit trail. And I'm curious how you got there.

Great Video and success, perfect impressions. Thanks for the video! This reminds me: we have bin there to but took a different way: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hpx8ZcaTl5Oxl4U.html Unfortunately our film is a bit long but if you like!? Großartiges Video, tolle Impressionen. Wir waren auch im Ruwenzori incl. Pt. Margharita (Video s. oben). leider ist mein Video älter und nicht primär für KZfaq gedacht, daher länger. Aber wer etwas über Uganda sehen will, kann sich das herauspicken was er möchte. Danke für Dein Video!!!

The Ugandan Wildlife Authority charges to visit the reserve and attempt a summit + compulsory guide have made this trek financially inaccessible to a great many people. Its actually cheaper to trek Everest than this reserve. 😢
@welchre129 күн бұрын
I’m assuming you don’t mean summitting Everest? Isn’t that in the $30-$60k range? We paid around $1500 all-inclusive, porters, food, lodging, park fees, etc. Definitely not cheap, but an incredible package and experience.
@JohnVianneyPatron29 күн бұрын
@@welchre1 (1) I was referring to EBC - very few people actually summit Everest. (2) The tour companies have made Everest a "summer vacation" now. Entire families (husbands, wives, children) go because there are teams of porters to guide the hike, carry the bags, cook the food, provide oxygen tanks, hotels etc. etc. I'm an experienced backpacker and trek Nepal about once every two years. For people who backpack regularly Nepal is cheap! We live in the dorms provided by the community - most are free, only requiring you to pay for your food (dinner and breakfast) and that's no more than $10 per night (you're eating mostly soup and rice (called dhal bhat) with some local vegetables), navigate our own way and carry our own backpacks (no duffel bags required???). Your permits come to about $50 and that allows you to spend as much time on a trek as you'd like. 2 years ago a friend and I went to the Annapurna region we did the circuit, Tilicho Peak, Poon Hill and ABC in 3 weeks. In Uganda, the Wildlife Authority charges you $25/day just to be in the reserve. That's $525 compared to $50 just for permits. UWA is ripping us off!
