It's so beautiful, that's one of the reasons Uganda is the Pearl of Africa where the beauty of the World lies!

Hi Mark! Very nice to see your video here. I did the same tour in January. At the glacier some things have already changed. But many things look like I know it. Look nevertheless also times on my channel past. There you will find a very similar video. Best regards and a subscription from me , Jörg

What was the toilet and waste situation on the mountain? Any insights on guide companies, transport, tipping, safety, and equipment? Did y'all come with those rubber boots or are they rented?

There are basic toilets-latrines at each camp. I booked with rwenzoritrekking.com. They seem to be the most popular and are well organized, I'd highly recommend them. There are other options, but I don't know the names off hand. I was traveling solo, but grouped up with 7 other trekkers. We had a crew of about 50 people including 4 guides, and several porters and cooks. You can pay extra to have a porter carry your pack, and it's well worth it. The mountains are a long drive from Kampala, but you can arrange private transport or just take a bus (link.co.ug) from Kampala to Kasese. Then from Kasese take a taxi or jump on a boda-boda (motorbike taxi). I took the bus option and it was easy. No safety issues. I go to Uganda yearly and find it to be quite safe other than some reckless drivers on the road. I brought my own equipment except for the rubber boots and crampons which they provided. If you prefer, you can buy a pair of those rubber boots while in Uganda. I think we had to wear them for over 50% of the trek and I was surprised that they weren't too bad. As for tipping, I'd recommending tipping as much as you can afford. People are desperate for work and income.

@@kawamark Much appreciate the reply, especially the transport link. (I am the local bus-taking type.) Your vid is really super. What brings you to Uganda year after year?

@@globalgourmand Thanks! Years ago when backpacking across Africa, I fell in love with Uganda and stayed for a while, made lots of friends and keep coming back.

A great video showing this beautiful area prior to 2020. In May 2020 the worst recorded floods swept through the tiny community of Kilembe. The community is desperately trying to re-build itself and again provide visitors access to the wonders of the Rwenzori "Mountains of the Moon". Please help with justgiving www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/andrew-wielochowski?

Great Video, fantastic impressions. Thanks for sharing! Reminder for me, we have bin there to but took a different way: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hpx8ZcaTl5Oxl4U.html Unfortunately my film is very long but if you like!? Großartiges Video, super Impressionen. Wir waren auch im Ruwenzori incl. Pt. Margharita (Video s. oben). leider ist mein Video älter und nicht primär für KZfaq gedacht, daher länger. Aber wer etwas über Uganda sehen will, kann sich das herauspicken was er möchte. Danke für Dein Video!!!
