Rx8 Greddy turbo install!!

Rx8 greddy turbo install with adaptronic ecu, D585 coil conversion, hks blow off valve.
First start with the turbo kit. Since install I've been having problems with engine flooding. Need to work on the tune for the adaptronic. Possible blown turbo seal. It's smoking out a lot.
Edited and recorded with Samsung s10 plus on zhiyun smooth 4 gimbal.

holy shit i can’t believe this was only a week ago. are you afraid of your motor dying out on you since it’s at such a high mileage. mines at 118k and i want to rebuild my engine once more before i turbo it. also do you have any cooling mods to help better maintain the turbo

The actual mileage on the motor is 48k. The oe motor on this chassis blew and someone rebuilt it but rebuilt wrong. Got the car for a steal and found a low mileage renesis. No cooling mods yet. I've been reading everywhere it's a must. For sure I'll do some in the future and post up install vids!! I'm not worried about it blowing. I have a back up renesis that I'm building on the side.

@@tersaydeez yes cooling mod for renesis is a definite must even on stock, it should be the first thing to ever do, and to tune it to have secondary fan turn on before its original Mazda setup. You be surprised on the percentage of blown engines are due to it.

You need v mount, oil cooler, air flow bonnet... Only thing will kill the engine is heat. Renesis side port will trap 🔥 heat.. Need extara meters to monitor. Good job anyway..

Was looking into v mounts. Doesnt seem to be worthwhile in the renesis. Seems like it'll trap more heat in the engine bay. The manifold has an egt bung and I already have oil pressure oil temp and water temp sensors. We will see where this goes! Gonna compression test the motor and see what kind of condition it's in.

@@tersaydeez v mount radiator fan under side. Hot air will suck under. Very effective. We did that before.

I actually got it used. Saw it on ebay for a steal. These kits usually run over 4k brand new.

Seems like some places still have it up on their site. Essex rotary, based in the UK, shows its available. Ran into a few more sites claiming still available 🤔

I have been trying to turbo my RX8 R3 for 10 years... Three different turbos, a million different setups, 6 rebuilds and just last week I finally have it running perfectly ლ(╹◡╹ლ) It has bankrupted me ($190K usd total [ just the car new here in Australia cost 48K usd]) But... now it finally run great... I will dyno it and track it in the next two months and upload the videos to show... Maybe some on how I made it run like stock but double the power:) Just a word of warning, I have heard the greddy kit doesn't like to take much boost..

👌👌 Not looking for crazy power with the renesis.. Just want it to light up the tires so I can keep up with all the 350z s. The ultimate goal would be for me to swap in a 13b rew. One of the reasons I went with adaptronic select, so I can keep my cluster working. I'm curious though. Kept reading that any version of renesis after s1 didnt have support. What setups have you tried? And which worked best? For sure I'm going to need to address the greddy turbo as it is right now, plans to upgrade the center cartridge are in the works!!

@@gilbertosantos2806 ..I kept all my recepts and was pretty shocked at what it added up to.. Over 10 years a thousand here and a thousand there plus the workshops charging massively for labour just got out of control. It just that the more it cost the more I had to make it work because I couldn't sell it for anything not running. It's finally running better than ever now and I'm taking it to a track day this Tuesday and will upload a video of it:) Only 5psi to be extra safe though///

Supposedly it can. I'm not sure that the greddy e manage it comes with will work though. But as far as bolting up the kit, it'll work.

@@tersaydeez you are so lucky, I saw one on marketplace for $850usd lhd and I didn't think fast enough.. though I don't have my rx8 bought yet..I should've jumped on it just to have it( trust me I'm still mad at myself).. I have rotary compression tester all tools needed for the car and everything.. just need the car 🤣, every car I've went to see doesn't reach my expectations, except one I found 2 days ago with rebuilt engine, has 10k miles on it, no rust, paint is excellent..$5k

Those Rx8 fuel line connectors are so dodgy,, hopefully you removed and changed that setup later date,,pritty good these setups are available thou,,

Sadly it started smoking out and I compression tested the motor. Looking like I need a new CHRA for the turbo and a motor rebuild. Rear rotor was borderline no go. Getting my ducks in a row to start shooting out content. Just waiting for parts.

@@tersaydeez you need a different oil drain set up. That’s what toasted the CHRA.

Thinking about it. The problem is the pan is like a dry sump. I mean if they designed it with the drain plug replacement thing mine should be fine considering it's not facing down. I'll have the motor out soon. I have a feeling I lost a control ring in the rear rotor looking at the condition of my plugs

Negatory. Removed engine for rebuild. Found side seal got stuck. Engine started sputtering on my first pull. Have the engine on a stand rn. Hopefully get time to put together something while I rebuild it.

You dont wanna put a 13b in it or 20b, b4 you put a turbo in it? Its safer bc there only so much more amount of power you can do to it with that stock motor. I can give you abt 10 more reason y.

I wish money grew on trees. 20b would be a dream. 13b is attainable. I'm not drag racing or planning on making tons of power. Just want a fun rx8. Plus I have spare motors to burn. 13b rew is in the works rn.

The biggest thing to any motor is the tune. I don't plan on cutting any corners. I already have the stand alone and upgraded my fuel pump to the s2.I plan on running a methanol injection kit to keep the exhaust Temps down and reduce knock. And again probly gonna end up rew and shoot for 450 at least. With the renesis I'll be satisfied with 250.
