Ryan Blaney and Michael McDowell tangled in the closing laps of the Cup race at New Hampshire, and they talked about it after the race. Also, Frontstretch's Chase Folsom spoke to Blaney alone to get his thoughts on the incident and the use of rain tires.

Everyone out there "had a shot!" Apparently two Fords raced next to each other and took each other out. It happened every once in a while with everyone, different manufacturers, teammates, but Fords are notorious for taking each other out! I'm not just overly sensitive as a career long Ford employee with a four generation history with Ford, but then maybe I am.

It's extremely frustrating because I've seen McDowell in this position like in 2022. Giant penalty ruins any chances of pointing in, yet he didn't do any banzai nonsense until Daytona where it was literally the final chance, shot his shot, failed and wrecked, okay fine that's understandable If he'd avoided stuff like racing Chastain hard for a stage win, not blocking Brad like crap at Talladega, and a few other things he'd be right in the hunt for that 16th spot with Busch, Briscoe, Logano, and Wallace. The only thing I can think of is that Ford partnership has everyone stressed thinking they need to net wins to keep it in check as Front Row expands to three, maybe four cars to take SHR's place.

McDowell had no chance to win. He didn't have a car to hold the lead. The difference between a great driver and a good driver is the great ones know when to push the limit and when not to. McDowell's move was desperation.

@@handsomedevil4928 Such a dumb statement. An overly aggressive move for 3rd place, of which he'd still have to fight for even if he cleared Blaney on exit; he didn't have the pace to race the leaders. Every time McDowell decides to be aggressive, he makes a mistake, dumps a guy, or both. "Win and you're in" doesn't have anything to do with piss poor race craft.
