When they showed the slow mo of this it surprised me, I dont think I remember any broadcast in the past showing a slow mo of what the driver goes through in a wreck.

It was pretty eye-opening. Harvick is not kidding about the Gen 7 car crashing hard, it still seems like there's a lot of impact energy going into the driver despite the changes NASCAR has made.

From the angle of the camera its hard to tell if he hit his head on the steering wheel. I think the safety has improved since 2022. And thats a good thing. It needs to crush like the gen 6 car but i don’t think nascar is going to change much more.

@@zaxgeraci1168I watched it on 0.25x and his head does move around a lot but it is hard to tell if it hits anything.

there was fire IN the cockpit, check the bottom left of the replay..

Looks like the firewall got intruded from something that allowed the flame from engine bay to get into cockpit

That actually didn’t look as bad as it did a couple years ago even last year. There’s definitely improvement to the safety of the Next Gen car. There was a lot more movement in the cars in crashes in 2022. That looked similar to the Gen 6 not quite there yet.
