Devon and Michael both say that about him too. John will train at the table and give up absolutely everything the entire time. He isn't worried about giving up his hand or his bicep during sparring; most opponents walk away feeling pretty good about themselves...until they meet him in competition.

Breznk and Larratt, these are the two icons I could watch the entire day. They kinda defined arm wrestling for all of us. Not saying there aren’t any other legends but these two created a world of arm wrestling and we still live in it. And I really Wish to see Larratt and Breznk sparring. That would be great fun with Larratt’s trash talk and Breznk’s calmness.

Ryan, I wish this was 10 years ago, just so you could feel a semi-prime brzenk.... he had the most ridiculous table control and hand/wrist stability I have ever seen... or heard of. He has every method in the book for gaining control at the hand. And it's the fatal weakness of all the 350+ pound monsters in the East. They have huge, strong arms, but John was always able to take their hand which put their arms in disadvantageous positions. It's easy to win when your opponent is fighting from a disadvantage all the time.

Also dude, John is nowhere near small, you see him next to guys who are extra tall and roided to the gills, it starts to screw with your judgement of what's considered 'small'. John in real life at his peak was a very large bloke, solid as heck and 6"1, would make your average guy look very small next to him. Even now he's a large unit, you're too used to seeing meat heads from Europe and other roid junkies.

I also had rotator cuff and impingement issues in the past. The doc recommended conservative treatment. I fixed it by doing tons of rehab exercises, low intensity, high volume. I strengthened the little rotator cuff and shoulder blade muscles and got the blood into the joint to promote the healing. Countless facepulls, Y-T-I's, shoulder prone presses and later I added reverse flys, rowing and floor chest flys. Still took me over a year to rehabilitate and get the stability back into the joint though. It feels pretty much bulletproof now. Everyone is different though his injury might be much worse but rehab should still help

I'm just amazed by this man, Brzenk. As others have pointed out, John has never been a "small" man, but it cannot be argued that he ever achieved anywhere near the mass and physical stature of the vast majority of his competitors. In fact, pics of him from the "Over the Top" era (for ex: forums.t-nation.com/t/alexey-voevoda/171996/2) show that early in his career John didn't resemble any of his contemporaries and certainly not the chemically-enhanced beasts of today. John Brzenk is the living embodiment of several "golden" rules: First, NEVER judge a book by its cover! Secondly, technique beats raw power more often than not. And, finally, competitions are very often won by the person with the biggest heart and the most relentless drive and determination. Brzenk is one of those men whose story can inspire others way beyond the sport of armwrestling. Hey, Kids... Looking for a hero or role model? Got one for ya!

i knew things were different with and without strap but this video highlights just how much of a different game it is when you are in the strap versus out...almost like it's two different sports.
