People tend to forget, these guys are human. People have unrealistic expectations from athletes, but have very little expectations from those who make way more money, and have the power to effect millions of lives.

God bless Ryan Clark for the beautiful compassionate way that he spoke about DeMar Hamlin. He spoke from his heart about a human being. A son, a brother, a man. Lately I've heard do much hatred and mean spirited attacks against these players and it's gone way too far. These are human being's with families. I pray that minds and hearts will change. I pray that God will touch DeMar and restore his health 🙏

Love sent to him & his loved ones. This was very scary reality of what can happen even though football is so loved by players & fans alike.

Absolutely wonderful to watch all of these people come together to pray and help this young man who is in imminent danger, all hopes and prayers to Damar, friends and family to make it through this.

This is my first time hearing about a football game being postpone due to injuries like this but maybe it’s for the best. They can always reschedule despite the refunds but you can’t reschedule life and the players need to be focus during any sport. Get well soon Damar Hamlin. ‘Nuff said!

Shocked! Praying 🙏🏼 that Hamlin will be okay. As a fan of both types of football ⚽️🏈, I saw the same thing happen to Christian Eriksen (currently on Manchester United and the Denmark 🇩🇰 national team). He had a cardiac arrest mid-game during the 2021 Euros. It’s always scary to see. Thoughts and prayers with him and his family. Hopefully Hamlin can make a full recovery like Eriksen did.

All of Ryan Clark's comments tonight were eloquent and meaningful. He provided perspective, context and empathy. In a world where awards are given, this was beyond Emmy worthy.

Ryan that's why they tried to tell you earlier today (Giants vs Colts game) when Nick Foles got hurt the player doing angels and celebrating next to him on the ground was not a good look, but you were all for it. Now later the same day you wanna be sorrowful. Save it! When these guys get hit and laid out NO ONE should be celebrating.

I recently received my EMT certification and this seams like ventricular fibrillation caused by blunt force trauma to the chest. Receiving a forcible blow to the chest at the right time during the cardiac cycle can cause a cardiac arrhythmia and in some cases the patient will collapse or even die on the spot. Sorry, I just wanted to give my two cents, and maybe provide an answer to those who are concerned and curious. This is a horrible incident. I sympathize with Mr. Hamlin and his family. Let’s all pray to God for him to be saved and healed from this injury.

I think it very telling that Ryan Clark was on ESPN this morning making light of a player hitting Nick foles yesterday and while Nick was laying motionless getting convulsions the player that hit him was doing snow angels besides him then when Nick was carted away the player on the sideline was joking about him putting Nick too sleep even though he didn't know how serious he hurt Nick. Luckily Nick situation by no means as serious as tonight,thank God and by no means I'm comparing them but Ryan was making excuse for the guy clowning the player he hit when nobody knew how or if it was serious or not. But this is what people was correcting Ryan about this morning, you making light of a man laid out when you don't know how seriously he hurt know tonight it just rings hollow to me what Ryan is saying.

I'm no medical expert, but the way his neck rolled as he made the tackle all the way till he rolls up to stand up, major pinch in his upper vertebrae that effected his brain to shut off his breathing. Hospital said he was alive but in critical condition when he arrived at the Cincinnati hospital. Hoping he comes out and back to the field. The brotherhood they have is unbreakable

The horrific scenes that come to mind when Damar Hamlin collapsed after making a tackle was Al Lucas in Arena Football when the Los Angeles Avengers played the New York Dragons and Lucas died from blunt force trauma and a upper spinal cord injury after making a tackle. Same with Chuck Hughes when the Detroit Lions played the Chicago Bears in 1971. Hughes is the only player in NFL history to die during a game. I also witnessed Reggie Brown when he had his football career ended with a spinal cord contusion after making a play on Adrian Murrell back in 1997.

Our city has gone through a lot the past year. The mass shooting, then the violence that followed. The deadly weather. The Bills were there physically to help people through their hardships. The Bills help us every week to forget about our real life issues but now we have to support them and give them the same treatment they’ve given us as a city to know that they’re there for us. Now let’s return that favor to Damar and his family.

I am shocked by this whole thing. I've been fervent football fan for 30 years and this is the scariest injury I've ever seen. I sincerely hope Hamlin is okay. I was just hoping to have a relaxing night watching the game, and now find myself examining my football fandom. These young men are putting their health and well being on the line for our entertainment. They are being handsomely rewarded with millions of dollars a year, but with moments like tonight it puts into perspective the risk they are putting themselves in for what is ultimately a meaningless game.

I watched a video of a doctor that said if the hearts receives direct trauma in a certain millisecond in its rhythm, it triggers cardiac arrest where the heart stops. He was fairly certain that’s what happened here.

Most likely a very RARE cardiac anomaly called: COMMOTIO CORDIS. It is "rare" because it occurs within milliseconds (only on upside of T wave in QRS complex) AFTER a blunt force trauma injury to the chest. This causes the patient to go into sudden cardiac arrest, requiring CPR, defibrillation, airway mgmt, and RAPID transport. I'll be following this story for updates. Sending love and healing light to D.Hamlin, his family, both the Bills and the Bengals, and the NFL medical teams.

This is terrible when an athlete has a life threatening event during a game but it has happened before when during a game of soccer, hockey and boxing when an athlete died.

Ryan Clark's commentary on the reality of what the game means to the players was profoundly moving. His highly personal perspective elevated my emotional understanding. My thoughts and prayers are with Damar, his family and all his brothers on the field.
