Jarecki made a better job of investigating Durst than any NY, LA or TX police dept. combined. Durst isn't a smart man, his lawyers were smart, he is a spoiled little rich kid who was overlooked by his father as head of the family business in the same way "Fredo" from the Godfather was, he was so smart infact he asked Jarecki and co to interview him regarding his life's ups and downs but instead was charged, rightly, for the death of his "Friend" in LA, the 2nd friend to die at his hands.

I thought Gosling did a terrible job of portraying Durst. He failed to grasp the essence of Durst. He seemed wooden. Besides, Gosling is much too attractive, Durst is butt ugly and lacks charisma. Durst has that person most likely to murder someone look. His eyes are soulless.

I just pray he just confess. He's old and lived his life, confessing will give the family of the victims some closure, maybe, lighten their heart somewhat.

That moment my jaw dropped. But i wasn’t surprised deep down. This man is a liar murderer manipulating everyone but not in the usual narcissistic way you expect it. This whole documentary he kept dropping easter eggs to him being guilty of all things. There was definitely something about him and his trauma going all the way to his father only caring about their name and business and mother he clearly loved, mysteriously falling/jumping from his childhood home roof and subsequent death and funeral and daddy/power issues that triggered a shift in him. Him mentioning his dominance over kathy wanting her independence or feuding with his brother doug taking over the family business when he couldn’t and not wanting anything disturbing his freedom of life. Everytime something or someone that could pose issue to that especially regarding using him for money and wealth he loathed, made him go to extremes measures. He hated having all that wealth and even admired his prison mates for building themselves from nothing compared to him being born with so much money already he saw as a burden. kathie his 1st wife that disappeared after she wanted a divorce and settlement, morris black his Galveston neighbor he killed who probably found out about him when he came clean to his real identity and might have blackmailed when really finding out about his status and his old friend susie who was on hard times wanting money and the cops and DA in NYC getting to her to reopem the kathie case. He never wanted to leave trace of that. I wonder if they ever tested him for some sort of personality or severe mental disorder because he clearly isn’t just your average serial killer driven by killing more so by necessity of anyone’s who may want him to do things as Robert Durst the millionaire or man whom he clearly hated that part of him because of his unresolved trauma of what that meant to him. It’s almost like someone who never seeked therapy to understand why they have a pattern of anger towards such subject but just went way too far by killing those in his way instead. Very sad and interesting to watch unfortunately to the point where he was also able for a long time to afford the best defense team of lawyers and possibly his family helping quiet down some of the justice system higher ups to clear their name while distancing themselves from Robert. He got way with it for too long

the movie was well done. and I believe he loved her, but the way is just too damaged.
