@@user-et1se7gn2gif you're still upset about the contents of a joke made in a fictional documentary TV show you should probably take it up with your government after all these years, since they were behind it all to cover up the TRILLIONS of dollars that they "could not account for" which was announced on September 10th. The uproar started, then the very next day were the "attacks", then nobody spoke about those trillions of dollars again since the media were paid off to only speak about the attacks and not what was announced the day before. Think it's a conspiracy? Actually look into the whole story and not just what the news outlets told you - that was your first mistake. Direct you anger at the right people, and not some guy in the KZfaq comments who liked a joke that COMPLETELY explains Ryan's selfish character in one sentence.

He was. But then they realised that was Jim’s role. Ryan was initially an entry character, which allowed the audience to be introduced to the characters and workplace. It’s a common device, it’s always a character’s first day at school (Cady in Mean Girls, Harry in Harry Potter) and someone shows them around so we the audience can be introduced to our setting. That’s why Ryan spent so much time which Michael, so we could see Michael Scott in action. But once we were into the second season, we didn’t need that device, so Ryan lost his role. They had set him up as the straight man, but realised he then served the exact same function as Jim. So they had to figure out another role for him. It wasn’t til he got the promotion that we get the Ryan we know and love (to hate). Ryan is pretty forgettable in seasons 2-4, mainly he just dates Kelly. They liked the douchebagerry of Ryan when he’s messing around Kelly, so they ran with that.

Ryan is such a disturbingly real character. Sometimes smart, talented, and decent people who have no experience whatsoever are given too much power and can’t deal with it, and their lives are pretty much ruined. Ryan totally would’ve continued to be his normal, slightly sarcastic and occasionally jerky but not awful self if he hadn’t been given Jan’s job. I still don’t get how Karen didn’t get promoted over a guy who had never made a single sale before. Maybe could’ve even replaced Michael when he left if he’d just taken it slow

Most toxic yet hilarious and entertaining character to watch. I love all the Ryan content

I was thinking they would cut the talking head of Ryan saying "he just made the list" because theres no context, but then I remembered that everyone watching this can probably quote most of the show so context doesnt matter.

I used to think that Ryan's committment phobia was due to Kelly's madness, but then when he rejected Erin for saying "maybe in 6 months" It became clear that both ryan and kelly deserved that dysfunctional and toxic relationship.

I love the progression, how in season 1 Ryan is almost considered to be a better version of Michael, continuing on to have Ryan get the Job that Michael interviewed for. Then it became apparent that Ryans dishonesty and immaturity was his downfall, where Michaels honesty and hard work continuously paid off for him. At the end, its poetic that Michael ends up happily married and presumably successful, where Ryan is still a broke loser who cant even maintain a stable relationship.
