Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes react to Ryan Leaf’s criticism of the presumed #1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams. Leaf said: 75% of what made Caleb great in college is not transferable to the NFL. He also went on to say he does not believe Williams should be a starting QB during his rookie season. Nick, Wildes and Brou react to Leaf’s comments on Caleb.

without a shadow of a doubt Mahomes is probably the most talented QB we've ever witnessed. His talent, ability to improvise and decision making is all time great. BUT its crazy to me that more people dont acknowledge that he stepped into what was probably the best possible situation in the NFL. Literally the equivalent of winning the pro sports lottery. There's at least 25 other teams he could've gone to that you can almost guarantee he wouldnt have sniffed a ring, or even a conference game, by now. I know the entire thing is a big hypothetical what if situation but it doesnt change the fact that he did walk into the the best possible situation.

@@TRDarnellI think rodgers is slightly over mahomes in terms of talent in just straight up throwing the ball to receivers and not defenders but that mahomes landed in a better situation and has a better personality for the game. He actually can. You understand that scrambling (which he did a lot this season, because his oline was terrible) skews those averages, yeah? You have to watch the games from his first two seasons and you can't just watch highlights. Being a solid QB is just as much about what is done between the highlight reel plays. He has shown that he can throw with anticipation, he can work in the pocket and moves well within the pocket. If people are taking his work from this season at face value without context, they are getting a fraction of the story. Luckily, no professional organization are doing that.

I overheard two OL who were at the combine agree that none of the QBs had NFL accuracy! They both agreed that Penix was by far and away the most accurate passer. Both felt that part of the problem is that collegiate QB's accuracy is usually overrated due to the fact that their receivers are more often wide open, discounting how many times the receivers need to come back for an underthrown pass, how many of their passes would be intercepted or knocked away in the NFL, etc. One demonstrated by showing that the difference in the NFL of a pass thrown to the left side of the head as opposed to the right is the difference between an NFL starting QB and everyone else.

Leaf does have a point, Caleb has shown some worrying signs about his future as a franchise QB. Lack of maturity, jittery in the pocket, kinda folds under pressure, easily frustrated. I'm a USC fan, so I believe and hope he's gonna be great, but you'd be a fool to consider him a perfectly polished prospect.

I don’t think they have much of a choice in starting Daniel Jones, unless they’re gonna cut him. He makes a pre-sizable amount of money not to be a day one starter.

I didn’t know he painted his nails until today. I watched him in a few games and he looked decent. Has the talented but when he faced better defenses, he struggled. He also had Lincoln Riley as his coach. You’re going to have to be Superman to have your team win because Riley’s teams can’t play defense.

Caleb being drafted by my Bears would be a good situation for him to start from. We have a decent defense, running game, and some good receivers. Unfortunately, Fields had to suffer through the hard times and Caleb would be coming into a better situation. No way do you keep Fields while drafting Caleb. It makes no sense to do that, so the Bears will need to take their time and get what they can for him. He had 4 yrs to make drafting Caleb an unrealistic option, but if you want to take serious look at him, you have to let Fields go to turn over the team to Caleb.
