Yes! Ryan Reynolds was absolutely perfect for this part. And I loved his groove when he was grooving to the Salt and Pepper tune. He had moves that I can't even do. And loved the comedic moments!

I have to disagree. Lee Daniels knew her from before hustle and flow & baby boy and stated that he wrote this part for her because of her status in the African American acting community from wayyy before BB. He knew it would get her the recognition she has deserved for over 20 yrs.

I'm sure Lee Daniels know many lesser known black actresses from smaller films. If Henson hadn't made Benjamin Button and one of those other actresses had gotten more attention, maybe things would have been different. But this is just speculation, none of us can prove it.

Maggy hope Not taking anything away from Tarji at all but when most people talk about her they don't even mention Benjermain Button. She got the work and she did awesome but I don't think that's what got her where she is now. She's done a lot of work and was always on Person of Interest, which is another TV show

I agree with you I love that Ryan Reynolds just saw those women as heroes not "female heroes" or "African American female heroes" just heroe's. People of colour just want be seen as human and to be treated that way. It is always important to remember your roots but it's good to know there are people out there who see us as american or Canadian or British. No hope that one day our differences won't matter

If you watch this video and then go to Amy Adams and Andrew Garfield's video, it's just so different. Both are super interesting, but you really get to see the personalities of all of the actors. Amy and Andrew seem much more reserved and philosophical and Ryan and Taraji are much more extroverted and sarcastic.

I just find it funny how I've been watching taraji's movies ever since I saw her in tyler perry's I can do bad all by myself as a child and just noticing how she was one of those lowkey actresses/actors that have such brilliant talent but doesn't get that much recognition from a broader audience to now finally getting recognition from a broader audience but just as cookie lyon... and not as taraji p. henson. honestly, that just really annoys me because she's just so amazing.

Lexi Keaton most actors auditions are not great. Even the best of them! When I'm casting, all of the auditions are "eh" but you spot the ones with potential and have some semblance of what you want from the role and you do a callback. During the callback I work with them more and see what kind of a performance we can pull out of them and then we start to see who is right for the part. If you hear about more audition stories, even from the most famous of actors, they all hate it because it's such a difficult process😊

Arianna Twoshoes she meant cookie would have been hung for being such an outspoken black woman. strange fruit hanging from a tree is a phrase referring to finding black people hanging from a tree because they were lynched.

Nixon Von She's conversing with Deadpool, so I instantly thought of Storm being a great addition for the sequel. Didn't like the way X-Men movies portrayed Storm. They got it right with Colossus in Deadpool, maybe they can with Storm, too. Just a thought, though.

ThisIslnteresting always imagined someone taller for Storm. And I think Taraji has the chops to play a GREAT villain. Villains in superhero movies are 8/10 times SUPER boring. I think Taraji could be fun and make it interesting.

I'm glad she is Cookie instead of Olivia pope. I think Cookie fits her better than Olivia. Plus people aren't sick of Empire the way they are sick of Scandal. Just because it has more mainstream potential and reaches audiences of all ages is why I say that. I love Taraji in anything she does. I fell in love with her on Baby Boy. That's my movie.
