Ryan Serhant began his first day in the real estate business on September 15, 2008 - the same day that Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy in the wake of the subprime mortgage collapse. While the real estate sector has steadily recovered, Serhant himself has quickly become one of the most successful brokers in the world, with agents under his leadership in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami and the Hamptons. The Serhant Team has been named by WSJ Real Trends as the #1 real estate team in New York for two years in a row, and the #2 team in the country, selling close to $1 billion in real estate last year. Ryan is consistently the youngest broker to make the Journal’s top ten list each year.
Ryan stars in the popular Bravo series “Million Dollar Listing New York,” which just wrapped its seventh season. On September 18, 2018 - the week of his 10-year anniversary in real estate - he will debut his first book, Sell It Like Serhant. When pre-sales were announced, Ryan was #1 on Amazon’s daily list of “Movers and Shakers.” As star and producer, this year he also debuted his new Bravo show, "Sell It Like Serhant," started a successful vlog ( / ryanserhant ) and launched an app (Agent Empire: NYC). There is nothing Ryan can't do. His motto communicates his professional and personal philosophy, "Expansion. Always. In all ways."

@talkoftheyoc
@talkoftheyoc 5 жыл бұрын
Another thing to consider is yes he may get 2-4%, but in order the sale that much. You have other salesman closing deals. I’m Assuming Ryan is the broker at this point. When his agents close a deal at 2%, his agent most likely makes 70% of that 2% commission and they should. Ryan will get around a 30% split of the 2% as the broker. So unless he is single handily closing those deals. He will need to sell more like $200M a month as a broker to make that kind of money. That’s how it really works.

Think of that if you ever doubt your early wisdom: use my experience as a cautionary tale. Learn about the magic of compound interest FIRST, and make early and consistent use of it. Would love to see a video based on your first few years in NY and the struggles you had to overcome. I feel like a lot of successful people speak about the struggles they are going through now but rarely speak about that 2-5 year period where every single day was a struggle and they felt like giving up. Maybe include your first few apartments that you lived in when you first moved, etc. I'm moving to NYC in 2 weeks and will be in a sales role so this would be a super helpful video not just for me but others as well I believe

I’m amazed at your speech skills.. how you manage to motivate me without sounding like a lame KZfaq coach... I’m still trying to figure out though... seeking in my life the opportunities I can explore so I’m out of being up against the wall. Don’t get me wrong, I get your point: when you’re in discomfort you trigger your survival mode and there’s no better drive than that. However.. being too up against the wall, or being there because it was an imposition from life is not healthy. I’ve never lived any other way... I alone take care of my disabled mom while trying to have a successful career and pay the bills... let me tell you, it gets terribly exhausting hustling everyday. It triggers anxiety, leads to depression... I want a way out and am committed to doing the work because life should be more than just surviving.

Great comment! You're right. Something about not being able to get tough and discipline our children anymore. So now they cannot stand up to bullies without shooting up the whole school. We never had one school get shot up by a lone student gunman back in my youth. Kids also don't understand delayed gratification, for the very same reason: Piss poor parenting. Working for what you want, even if it takes years, is just not something this new generation is willing to accept and do, thus the skyrocketing crime rate, suicide rate, and increase in school shootings. Little kids call CPS on their parents (using their own cell phones), if given a time-out that they disagree with getting. You can forget assigning them evening chores. They'll look at you like you went crazy and go back to playing PS2/Xbox.

Saw you on Yahoo Finance and liked your honesty and you mentioned your vlog. I totally understand the motivation that comes from having your financial back against the wall. I'll 'coast' a lot but I've made a few mistakes with my investments and that's when I see my hunger and desire to not give up come to the surface. I never thought about why it happens in those times but now I do. =) My next step is to use that power to keep me from 'cruising' on auto pilot and make a better future. It reminded me about the story of Anthony Robbins buying his mansion and how he had to elevate his game. Great stuff Ryan.
