Very thorough as usual. Germany has everything: nature, history, architecture, museums, big modern cities and a high standard of living. It's always worth visiting Germany. I'm glad that cities that were heavily bombed during World War II chose to rebuild what was there and preserve their heritage. The camera work and editing were really great.

Thanks so much John for your always thoughtful comments. It’s pretty crazy to look at the pictures and see how much they had to restore for cities like Dresden and Cologne. Makes you wonder what Europe would look like if there was no wars 🤔

Most German cities did not simply rebuild "what was there" after WW2. Some historic sites were rebuilt, but more than a few intact buildings even were torn down and replaced by blocks of questionable architecture.

There are so many places in Germany worth to mention (that weren't mentioned in the video): Rügen, Alpen (Alps) in general (I really like Sylvensteinsee, Walchensee, Kochelsee and Tegernsee), cities like Nürnberg (Nuremberg), Leipzig, Bremen (Schnoor is great), Burg Eltz, Trier (oldest city in Germany, Roman culture), Potsdam (Sanssouci, parks, full of history and old buildings), Görlitz (well preserved old town - and scenery for some hollywood movies!) and many more. I'm from Dresden and I love this city and the landscape around it.

Indeed, Germany is a captivating destination with a rich history, diverse culture, and stunning landscapes. Neuschwanstein Castle, nestled in the Bavarian Alps, is a fairytale-like masterpiece that attracts visitors from around the world. Its architectural beauty and scenic surroundings make it a must-visit, but Germany offers so much more, including vibrant cities, charming villages, and a wealth of cultural experiences. It's a country that has something to offer every type of traveler.

+ Koblenz. Just drive down the River Rhine from Wiesbaden (near Frankfurt). You‘ll drive through the unesco world heritage site „Mittelrheintal“. From Koblenz up the Moselle (incl. Eltz Castle)to Trier, the oldest german City, founded 18 BC. There you‘ll find more unesco world heritage Sites, like Porta Nigra and Kaiserthermen. Fuel up your car in Luxemburg, and then though the Vulcano Park Eifel (lake & Abbey Maria Laach) to Nurburgring, the green hell.

I'm actually from Rothenburg. We moved here when I was six. I was really bored here in the first few years, mainly because of the lack of activities and areas for kids and teenagers. There aren't any good soccer fields or other things I could've spent time with. But as I grew older I started admiring Rothenburg more and more because of the history, the architecture/infrastructure, the friendliness of most people and how calm the place is in general. Yeah I'd definietly recommend a visit although we're flooded with tourists all the time lol.

There are super many small towns in Germany that are not overrun with tourists but are still very beautiful. Some examples are Wertheim (and the whole Tauber valley), Idstein (very small but extremely beautiful with a castle in the Taunus, i recommend having lunch at the Alte Feuerwache or the Deli Dojo), Karslruhe (a bit bigger but still very beautiful), the Eifel, a volcanic region, is also very beautiful with Aachen as the biggest city. As a fan of beautiful castles you must visit Wernigerode Castle in the Harz Mountains. Wernigerode is a super nice little town with an even nicer castle. If you are already there you can also take the Brocken train to the Brocken (the highest mountain in eastern Germany). Germany is a very unique country where every small town has its own history and architecture because it was divided into many small states for a long time. Therefore, there are so many small beautiful towns that are rarely mentioned in all the tourist books or are simply lost next to the big attractions.

Some beautiful historic German cities that didn’t got destroyed in WW2 (and aren’t flooded with tourists;): - Görlitz - Pirna - Meißen - Bautzen - Marburg - Lüneburg - Regensburg - Bamberg - Wismar - Füssen - Heppenheim - Hildesheim - Quedlinburg - Wernigerode - Trier - Potsdam Also I personally miss Burg (castle) Eltz on this list, it’s stunning and about 900 years older than Neuschwanstein.😄

Im from Ecuador, but i live in Germany almost 18 years , my first city hier was Ulm and i had the chance to live in the Fisherviertel wich is the oldest part of the city, Ulm has a lot of History ( Albert Einstein was born here) but also everything around the city is amazing ( Blautopf in Blaubeuren ), then i was in Konstanz for the University and it was amazing, unfortunately after Konstanz i took the bad decision to move to Pforzheim and it was really bad. Since 2007 i moved to Berlin and this is my home now. Germany has a lot to offer ,just dont go to Pforzheim.

Lived around Frankfurt for over 4 years and visited a lot of these places. My wife's favorite place is Rothenburg ob Der Tauber but a lot of people fail to visit Dinkelsbühl and Nördlingen to complete the 3 walled cities of the Romantic Road tour. And for people visiting Neuschwanstein, I recommend you do the two castle tour and visit Hohenschwangau first if you're a history lover like me. You can complete both within a matter of hours and just note that Neuschwanstein is an unfinished castle.

Great documuntary and inspiration to visit my home country. Might I add the city of Wuppertal, which does not seem to be a real beauty in the first place, but about a century ago it was one of the wealthiest areas in Europe. Founding place of companies such as Bayer and Vorwerk, introducing general health care and social care for poor people, implementing the Schwebebahn , and also being home town to world renowned indidividuals such as Pina Bausch and Johannes Rau.

google translator. Thanks buddy for the nice video. I've been all over Germany and what's shown here is just a very small selection. Most notably, you left out the city of "Quiet Area," which is home to 27 million people. It is the largest metropolis in Europe and has many secret beautiful corners, but also many miserable corners, like any of the great metropolises in the world. My ancestors lived in this very area more than 6000 years ago
