I am happy to say I am one of those that made it to the end. I understood very little of it but that was not the point for me. I was watching you describe how you did your job with examples that I understood. I got a better insight into what you do so I an be entertained by your hard work . I am a closet sailor and I come on to you tube to do my sailing through your adventures that you choose to show me. I enjoy your work and I hope you continue to do your job so I can enjoy it. I offer my heartfelt thanks for brightening my otherwise dull day without any yours and other sailing channels . I look forward to your next offering . Thank you

Sooooo good to have you back, guys. If you can't make money at least you're building a fantastic "photo album" to go through in your retirement years. Visualize that: you take all the money you're saving spend it in vines and croissants and sit to watch your own vlogs. Sounds like a project! It's amazing to see in your smile the joy you have doing les videôs. Take care of each other and salut!

I love Ryan's technical videos, and this one was just as good as his. Not only was it technical, you answered many of the questions I had (but did not want to be rude and actually ask!) You really turned an undesired situation into a positive experience. Thanks to you both for all the entertainment over the years.

I originally started watching KZfaq because I happened to notice that Uma had Nanaimo (my home town) across her stern and really enjoyed the DIY side of it. That lead me to the "Rabbit Hole". I do really enjoy many different types of channels for many different reason's. Thank You

As a former photographer I completely agree with your remark about the way mistakes in audio can be much more glaring than video mistakes. Audio is very challenging! Lately I've been experimenting with dynamic microphones to reduce small space reverb. However in a larger garage, a shotgun condenser mic gives more natural voice tones with enough background sound to make it real. Efforts to use lav mics were hot and cold, I find the tone of many lav mics to be harsh and thin. Lav mics can be unreliable, there are more complications with cords, wifi, etc.

I usually get a smile out of people who criticize KZfaq content providers regarding "supporting a particular lifestyle." I used to edit back before digital was around. The amount of work & time is huge. Even if you disregard all the work that goes into producing a video & channel; if you, enjoy the video, information, content, etc... why not? Funding a "sailing lifestyle" is no different than people paying, spending mass amounts of $$$ to see a theater movie, a concert, sports teams games, etc. Are they NOT doing the same thing, paying a premium to support the lifestyle the actors, sports figures, performers enjoy from the $$$, whether directly or indirectly? I don't hear this aspect discussed. Keep up the work!

I have appreciated your show for the past few years. It was always a dream of mine to have a sailboat, but I realized I didn’t have the mechanical skills necessary here show today was particularly valuable, because I had been thinking about a KZfaq shell for a friend of mine. Ultimately, I decided it was over the top for an 80 year old man in any case you have provided in valuable information about the realities of the life of a presenter.

I really do enjoy your and your editor's editing. The biggest thing that many channels put too little value in is the audio engineering. I have turned off videos and unsubscribed from certain channels for really bad audio engineering in post production even if the content is decent. Also, after watching a bunch of your back catalog I'm really-really enjoying your channel. You'll grow over time for sure. I put your production and content right with some of the best in the space. Some of my other favorite sailing channels are Sailing Zatara, Sailing Ruby Rose, Sailing Nahoa, and Gone with the Wynns. Its the story telling, the honesty, and attention to detail that makes your content exceptional! You could consider spinning off "Ryan's Tech Corner" into its own channel. It is not uncommon for YT-ers to have multiple channels. The narrower you can make the content the better it will monetize too. Ryan should do a series of 60second "shorts" that focus on marine electrical. That would just be awesome! Keep-on-keeping-on

Your drone: For floatation, build a framework of popsicle sticks and ping pong balls in case of a splashdown. Use Duco Cement or Cyanoacrylate glue, because they are waterproof. The frame can be lashed to the drone with silk thread, kite string, and silk ribbons. A simpler top and bottom frame is better and more aerodynamic. When you splash down, remove the battery and memory cards immediately. Wash everything in distilled water. Don't use heat to force dry. Just bounty towels. Sound editing: If you ever edit on Mac or Windows, use ( audacity ) sound editing. audacity 1.2.6 is for windows. ( sorceforge ) is free.

That was great! Thanks for sharing these thoughts and facts about filmmaking and KZfaq. My channel is small and has changed topics from motorcycles to sailing. I really started because I wanted to share information about the things I was so passionate about, there was a time, a feeding thought...that I could make a living with it, but I found it would quickly kill the reason I started doing it in the first place. Now I'm not as worried about it and only post when I have something I really want to share. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for such a fantastic video about the bts of a sailing KZfaq channel. We started out because I love telling stories, capturing beautiful footage and sharing experiences people may enjoy. It is sooo much work and as you’ve pointed out, really difficult to make a reasonable income. For most people if you are trying to generate income solely from the videos burnout is inevitable. Hi Sophie and Ryan! You have likely already solved your missing editor problem, but I wanted to throw out that 1) I am a professional visual effects producer for feature films, but that's not really important since I have a full-time job, but 2) my son (also Ryan) is just finishing film school and knows Premiere extremely well. He's a very good editor and looking for a work-from-home gig. He'd love to do a sample cut of an episode for you to see if he can delivery what you're looking for! Please reach out if that sounds interesting. We're in Southern California. Oh, he also speaks French very well, as we lived in Provence for four years.

Thank you so much for this video, Sophie! Iam happy to have you back in this way which I love about your natural Sophie way. I understand that every journey will come to an end. Whatever and wherever we travel. Time, circumstances and ourselve as well as our targets and needs are changing every now and then. The question is what to do after when our dreams came true. Can any new dream beat the old one? Especially when sailing and discovering the nicest places is hard to top. Or when we find out that the world is round and more or less the same where ever we go .... regardless the beautiful colours of the sea. In the final end we all use to get old and need some money aside ... the fear to become homeless when we need extra care is specially in the western world bigger than in the East mentality. My tax consultant told me the other day that I need when I reached 67 years 650.000 Euro to keep my lifstyle another 20 years. So after 87 Iam broke. So I ask myself how Iam able now to keep my lifstyle ... save extra 5000 Euro each month and buy a sailing yacht plus pay every month for the living cost and insurances plus mantainment for the boat? The answer is It impossible until I dont win the Eurojackpot. So whats the solution? Keep your memories from your journey and miss the life on sea and settle down or life your live because it is the only one we know about and f ... our fears ot our western full coverd mentality? I know this is a hard topic and there are only individual solutions. So enjoy what you love and have as long as possible. Iam happy for this chanbel and thank you for all your work and passion to investing. Wishing you well Patricia
