Tony isn’t a wrestling promoter, he is a wrestling fan and sees himself as their savior. That’s why he hugs and gushes over new stars like he is bringing them in from the cold. He won’t use real life issues for storylines because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings

Exactly 💯 Tony is just that, a wrestling fan (Who grew up on Vince McMahon's wrestling) who had enough money to start a wrestling company but he's not a Carny, say what you want (and there's a lot of subject matter there) about VKM but he was a true Carny through and through

Page wasn't helping himself when he said that he doesn't listen to advice and doesn't need to. Punk really latched onto that one.
@DeadmanInc336
@DeadmanInc336 Жыл бұрын
@@madhatter8508 well, here's the thing. Page wasn't even saying anything derogatory or offensive. He really wasn't saying anything out of line. If anything, Page was being pretty self-deprecating when discussing his flaws. Even did a nervous chuckle when he admitted he is very bullheaded and isn't the best when it comes to taking advice. Which to be fair; some people are like that. Some people learn from watching tapes, others learn from actual advice, others learn from trial and error. But for Punk to latch on to that one makes him a complete hypocrite! Especially considering his very well known history of taking issue with "advice" and having zero issue telling others what to do. What's even crazier is that Page has been wrestling just as long as Punk has. Punk was out of the game for 7-8 years. If anything, Punk is the farthest thing from a veteran or legend. I think this all stems from Punk's desperate desire to be seen as a leader for several years.

@@madhatter8508 refresh my memory on the Tony Atlas thing. I vaguely remember that Punk and Atlas got into an argument about something. I just can't remember specifics.
@madhatter8508
@madhatter8508 Жыл бұрын
@@DeadmanInc336 Atlas didn't get the whole handwraps with the Xs on them and Punk was an asshole about it, so Atlas gave a speech to the locker room thanking them for the kindness and respect they showed him, and he said there was only one asshole in the entire locker room who did not show respect and did not listen to him, and every time he said that he'd look at CM Punk until Punk stood up and started arguing with him. Atlas said something to the effect of "What are you going to do about it?" and Punk just walked out in a huff. There was also the infamous Teddy Hart incident: when Punk and Hart were in TNA, Punk confronted Hart for doing a backflip after a match in Ring of Honor because Punk said it was gratuitous and unnecessary or something like that. Punk tried to bully Teddy but Teddy wouldn't stand for it so the two stepped out to fight. It was over in two hits: Teddy hit Punk and Punk hit the floor. Punk was lucky Sabu was there to break up the fight because Teddy said he was so mad he wouldn't have been able to stop punching Punk while he had him down, and I believe him. The two were called into the office and since Punk threw the first punch, he was fired from TNA.

100% nail on the head. CM Punk has a god complex where he can do no wrong. He gets hurt, the other guys fault. This guy complained about facing The Undertaker at WM because it wasn't the title match. His rise to popularity was because WWE gave him a mic and let him say things that shocked people, that's it. He isn't a top level athlete and never was, but in his delusional world he is head and shoulders above everyone else and reality is setting in now and his fan base is dwindling away.

I've always thought it odd how people couldn't see what an asshole Punk is after the Colt Cabana situation. Yet they marched on ready to drink his kool-aid when prompted. You touched on something that I haven't seen anybody else point out but something I noticed when watching the press conference myself. Punk said that he was old, beat up, and tired. If nothing else had happened this statement alone reflects how far AEW has gone for their mission statement just 3 years ago. When they started they promised to be the alternative providing new talent to a wrestling audience seeking something different than wwe. Then AEW started following the same success patterns of the AWA, WCW, and TNA and brought in wwe talent. That's not an alternative, nor is it new or fresh. When I watched this guy stuff his face, looking like he had just been hit by a train say that he was old, beat up, and tired I asked myself what happened to the vision this company laid out for it's customer base and why did it go so far off the rails?
@madhatter8508
@madhatter8508 Жыл бұрын
I don't mind them signing talent from WWE. A lot of them were great in NXT and then Vince ruined them on the main roster. So it's good to see them in AEW trying to rebuild what they had in NXT. I loved watching Brodie Lee in AEW before he passed, he was another one the WWE didn't know what to do with. Most of those former WWE guys are fairly young, though. You are right about the old timers. God bless Sting, but I've been watching him wrestle for over 30 years. And CM Punk is in even worse shape than Sting. Kevin Nash pointed out on his podcast that CM Punk was cracking jokes about him being old and dead 10 years ago when Nash was wrestling at age 55. Punk is now 42, he was away from the business for almost 10 years and he's in worse shape than Kevin Nash was in his late 50s. I know Tony is a mark for Punk, but maybe after dealing with him for the past year he sees the mistake that he made. It's fine to bring talent over from WWE if they can still go, but if you're going to bring them over with their old music and old gimmick like TNA did and AEW does now, that's when they come off as WWE lite.

Surprisingly level considering how much dude has shit-talked you in the past. I was expecting a lot more personal beef airing haha. I think "fragile" explains Punk well. When things are going right, he seems like the best guy, but the second something goes sideways he throws an absolute shit-fit and blames everything around him. You're spot on that there is a ton of money on the table here. They've been avoiding making Khan an on-screen authority figure but this is like lightning in a bottle where Khan could be AEW's "Mr McMahon".

Long post incoming. But bare with me because this is a very interesting take. I had a conversation with a friend of mine who is a wrestling fan and a psychology major. When I asked him why Punk is always seemingly so on edge, incredibly anxious, and so goddamn irritable, this was his response: "Because the cloak of protection that 'punks' put on in their teenage years and early 20s of the tattoos and wanting so desperately to be seen as counter culture is actually a hard thing to shred when you finally mature into the real world later on in life. The ones that hold on to the same personality they had as a kid/teenager like CM Punk become completely irrational and ego driven as their thinking they are better than everyone else when in reality they are just the same scared little kid that is too immature to become an adult. The guy barley represents a dead sub-culture and proceeds to declare that he speaks for a bigger population. His own home town, which mind you is one of largest cities in the world and to hang you hat that you are special out of the millions is embarrassing, completely turned on him when an actual star in MJF showed up." I considered myself a pretty huge Punk mark for years. And as I am watching Punk's petulant meltdown during the All Out media scrum, it finally dawned on me. Maybe he really is a miserable, malcontent, insecure, petty, narcissistic twatweasel. That media scrum meltdown was one of the most embarrassing and downright childish things I have ever seen.

To be honest, I don't think business could really be done. Think of the optics. Optics have been a serious issue for Tony ever since Punk's arrival, with him making bad call after bad call. The reality is that when Punk humiliated him at the scrum, TK should have fired him. "I'm trying to run a business here" talk about a complete slap in the face. And before anyone says Punk is their biggest star - he isn't and the ratings show that. You can look the data up yourself. Anyway, good work Ryback, you're giving a surprisingly balanced perspective, considering how dirty Phil did you. It's commendable.

I would have khan explain that not only would this help draw ratings but money as well. If booked properly i would have omega win the belt maybe from MJF down the line and even have steel side with omega and don callis. Then when punk comes back he turns on omega having cm punk win the belt back from omega and then we finally get the punk vs mjf title match. Lots of money to be made. After the scrum on the very next Dynamite: Start of the show, It would have been cool to see at the beginning of the show TK, center of the ring, call down his EVP's. They show up and he talks about their unprofessional behavior. They retort back about Punks behavior. Back and forth. Cue Punks music. Punk stands at the entrance ramp with Mic in hand. Does what he does best. EVPs ask TK to choose, US or HIM! Camera zooms on a shocked TK's face. 20 minutes later in the show after a couple matches and various skits, we see Punk backstage tying his shoe as he is out of his in-ring gear with bag. The cameraman asks Punk where he's going. Punk responds "HOME'. As he is walking down the hallway, BAM! Hit with a random object. It's the EVPs. They beat him mercilessly on the ground. One of the Young Bucks pulls Punk up by the chin and screams something like "Not so tough now with those sucker punches!" Beats on him some more. Bloody mess. Camera switches to a shocked announcing team of Tony and Jim. "Is this what we can expect from people that essentially sign our paychecks!?! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ?!! WHERE IS TONY KAHN?!?". More matches and skits. Start of Hour 2. After returning from a commercial break, TK is in his makeshift office looking disgruntled and frustrated. A lawyer lady is giving him advice. Punk burst through the door covered in blood. He wants a match with Matt Jackson and he'll deal with the rest of the EVP's later! After some back and forth, TK say's 'You want the match YOU GOT IT!" Random matches and Skits Backstage segment showing the EVP's talking strategy and trash talk. Random matches and skits. Main Event TIME: Matt Jackson makes his way to the ring. Punks music hits and he RUNS TO THE RING. Bell immediately rings. Back and forth between Matt and Punk. Punk whoops up on him most of the match. Punk has it won. Matt is in a rolled-up pin when all of the sudden his brother pulls the ref out of the ring and superkicks the ref! Punk is busy looking now at Nick. Kenny Omega is behind Punk but he doesn't know it. Punk turns around and gets hit with a beer bottle. It smashes into nothing against Punk's forehead as he hits the ground. All 3 EVP's Stump Punk in the center the center of the ring. MJF's music hits and he runs to the ring to save Punk. Punk is SHOCKED! END of show. -------------------------------------------------------------------- For the next couple of Dynamites Punk and MJF work together against the EVP's. At the pay-per-view it's Punk and MJF vs the Young Bucks. MJF turns on Punk, betrays him. Young Bucks win. MJF cuts promo. There you go, that is 2 or 3 months of material.

Also it would be awesome that during this feud in the weeks to come (in my scenario) that Kenny Omega has a dog that looks like Punks dog and threatens to hurt it or love it. Later we see Kenny, during the night throw a tied bag (with the dog implied in it) over a bridge. So much stuff you could do with Punk and EVP's.

It's interesting to hear about this from Ryback's point of view. He's 100% right, if they can't make money from this, Punk's gotta go.

The funny thing is i still wanna see the Ryback return squash match vs CM punk, maybe with Goldberg in The big guys corner and Bret Hart in punks corner 💯

I was waiting for someone to talk about this and you spoke. Congratulations for the courage you have and your frankness. Thank you, Ryback. But I am the one who baffles me how cm punk managed to beat Jon Moxley because Jon Moxley has only lost two losses since his exit from Wee, so what is the reason in your opinion?
@madhatter8508
@madhatter8508 Жыл бұрын
The reason is because Tony is a mark for CM Punk and he thinks (thought?) Punk could still go like he could 10 years ago.

@@madhatter8508 You are correct, but Jon Moxley is more profitable than cm punk, so why does Tony think like this?
@theninthheart4736

@@leonmorgan2362 Moxley is NOT more profitable. He’s a better rassler, but he’s a worse promo, and he’s never drawn 💰 like punk has. Every time punk opens his mouth, it gets people talking & evokes emotions. Moxley isn’t at that level.

Lol I am not surprised. I’m pretty sure by now we all should know CM punk is no stranger when it comes to going off script 😂😂😂

I used to despise Ryback in WWE, but he's brilliant on his podcast and as a personality. Definitely has bigger things than wrestling in his future!
