Oh lord, I can just see myself in this configuration doing a whole shoot with the shotgun pointed backwards, directionally rejecting everything I want! (The cable peeking out in a certain direction will be a hard thing to remember, so adding some kind of label is mandatory.)

Yeah it could be confusing, but if you're monitoring audio you would know if you were off axis. Also no reason you can't paint one end Black or Red or something. Maybe I may do that just to make really custom.

Question. Probably a dumb question. Could I use a hypercardoid mic on a small blimp for out door use. I know a shotgun would do a better job at narrowing down on what subject I capture. But I am curious if you can do the same with a hypercardiod like the AKG ck93 blue line series microphone.

Yes you can use windscreens over any type of microphone.

If you can’t find one that fits the way you want, there are some DIY tutorials out there. Basically you just need to create empty space around the mic that is not affected by the wind.

MrCheesyCam Interesting. Sounds like a lot of fun making a DIY blimp. I'm going to jump on that and see what I come up with. It might suck but the learning experience should be worth it haha. Thanks!

Really nice idea - been looking for some options like this. Side note: don't they make some smaller size deadcats that could fit?

I haven’t done that much research, but it’s possible just to make your own from scratch. I’m planning to cut mine and stitch it up. The fact that the front is the same as the rear now, means I can put the deadcat on backwards if my sewing skills fail me hahah.

great review...I see a link to Rycote Super-Shield. It looks like a nice compact option for 416s. Have you tested that one? I looked through your archive and didn't see a video about it. So not sure, if you worked with it and have not had a chance to post a video or not. Thanks!
