We figured out as kids that the more you killed enemies the more powerful your weapon got. So I got the NES Advantage and found a spot on the first level when you can put your back to the wall, and enemies will forever come tward you. I taped the joystick in the down/back direction and put something heavy on the attack button. Left it that was over night. Well I returned later the next day and guess what. You can kill every thing in the game in 1 hit after that including all bosses, lol.

You were years ahead of me. Though I played Rygar and even had the Advantage, I first tried something like that with castlevania symphony of the night.

Damn I never did it for that long, but I would spend a long time at the beginning of Level 1 and kill a bunch of stuff and get really powerful and then work through the game.

+TRUESEPH Seriously. Quite possibly the best and most appropriate game soundtrack for its day.

+TRUESEPH I thought I was the only one who thought this. I actually redid one of the tracks (The one at 15:18)
@etherraichu8 жыл бұрын
+Freshbrood I actually found the game's sound track kinda unnerving and creepy. Thats not a complaint. its an NES sound track that actually evoked emotions. Not a lot do that.
@Freshbrood8 жыл бұрын
Then that's a good thing, that 8bit sound made you feel. The game was creepy and unnerving, it was a hero's quest to fight evil god's to save the world. I think you just confirmed what we said.

+K-C Rhoder IN THE YEEEAAAR 2016!! The music at 9:57 is dull and monotonous, and until 11 minute mark when he goes on a murderous rampage and the music slows down does the drone break. haha

That was great, playing this as a kid in the 80s caused me so much rage. No saves nor passwords and no idea where to go made this one damn near impossible. You had to finish it in one sitting. I finally get to see what the hell was on that floating island.

Yeah, the 8 hour pause was the original quick save.
@RedSiegfried6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, at least you could pause. Many times I went to bed and then screamed to my brothers if anyone touches this Nintendo I'll kill you. (Actually, I was a pretty mellow kid. But NES is serious stuff.) My brothers respected the sacred pause because they were gamers too.

Damn, I was so pissed by this game: I managed to get to the final boss and got destroyed every single time. I spent hours trying to defeat it and finally called the official Nintendo phone line (yes, it was a thing back then). And unfortunately, the european version of the game (I live in France) had the difficulty settings changed... which made the final boss unkillable. It's such a shame as apart from that, I really enjoyed the game.

Love this game, I remember picking this up with allowance money back in the day, never understood why so many hated this version and claimed the Arcade Rygar superior, Rygar arcade was fun but linear and repetitive after awhile. Tecmo took Rygar for the Famicom/NES to a whole new level adding so much depth, adventure and one of the most iconic soundtracks made. Rygar was no joke, it was punishing and hard as the flow of the game did drift a little on were to go next but once you figured it out getting to explore new area's and fighting some cool and strange big bosses kept you going! One of my top 10 NES games of all time!
@mogimuss6 жыл бұрын
Dude this game scared me bad as a kid. I went off exploring and found a bunch of rooms with that bald monk guy always sitting. He started saying weird shit to me like he was actually talking to me and at one point it scared me so bad I took out the game and bury it never to play it again.

Top 10 fav NES games. Very difficult game. Took me a few months to beat this game. I was 6 years old at the time (1987).. I finally started reading the old man's hints on the whistle to find the last level. The soundtrack of this game is awesome as well, especially @ 15:16. I see other people in the comments have noticed this as well. That's one of the the main things that stood out about this game.

Awesome fast run. Had this on the NES as a kid, loved the heck out of it, it was tough but I was able to beat it. Great music, interesting boss battles and even regular enemies. I learned that you could move strangely or skip areas when the map moves left or right. How to do it: While moving between "maps" (only works going left or right between maps as far as i know), jump then quickly go left and right at the edge of a map quickly alternating between the 2 "maps". You will "float" and can access spots you shouldn't normally be able to. Would love to see a modern Rygar sequal with better RPG elements.
