Today we've got the Ryobi 2,300 PSI 1.2 GPM High Performance Electric Pressure Washer, model RY142300 for review. At the moment, sold only at Home Depot. It's a great unit, but as we'll see in throughout this video, may not be worth it's $100 price premium over universal motor-powered units. #ryobi #unboxing #review

I got one year out of mine. Basically, I wound up spending hundreds of $$$'s to pressure wash my mobile home one time. When done, I drained all the lines. Springtime and it didn't work. Disassembled the unit and found the plastic valve (yes, plastic) had become corroded in the pump housing. Which is cheap aluminum by the way. It has corroded with scale in the water over the winter and no amount of CLR fixed it. Save your money and rent one for your yearly chores. It's a helluva lot cheaper in the long run. Btw, I'm a retired engineer with a background in metallurgy. Ryobi could have spent a dollar more to incorporate corrosion resistant materials. Cheap...just plain cheap.

Well, we bought one on my job as the company tried various brands of electrical pressure washers for cleaning big AC coils, cooling towers and ducts. So far this green meany is the only survivor. I've put at least 800 hours on this sucker, still goes strong. This are under the sun 85 degrees plus tropical hot and humid hours of use. It's a fairly good product for what you pay, even the updated price of 329 dollars. That said I'm very meticulous about purging lines before and after the use. Highly recommend for a household setting.

Like the video. Nice and thorough. My personal experience was, First bought the Greenworks because it was cheaper and didn't seem that much different. Took it home, put it together, used it for about 20 minutes resetting my GFCI almost every time it kicked on on a 20 amp circuit, put it back in teh car, took it back and went to Home Deport and got the Ryobi. The Ryobi's "idle" function made all the difference. No breaker trips and good performance.

Nice timely review in 2020 as I am seriously considering buying this unit. I have never had a pressure washer but have been doing research on pressure washers and their associated equipment. Two main things I have learnt: Nozzle size is important. It refers to the actual size of the orifice in the nozzle. 0, 15, 25 and 40 degree refer to the shape of the nozzle or jet stream. The nozzle size can be determined using the unit's Max pressure and gpm and selecting nozzle size on the nozzle size chart. Secondly, for foam cannon use, because the unit has a small gpm of 1.2 which is lower than gas powered units and comparable to other electric units, you need a smaller (1.1mm) orifice on the foam cannon to better agitate your soap and give thicker foam. All things considered, I would choose this unit over a comparable unit from greenworks simply because in my country Ryobi tools are marketed and used and should something go wrong, I should be easier able to find a technician/parts for the unit. I cannot say the same for greenworks

The reason the pressure was so los with the 40 degree nozzle is because the orifice size is too large for the low flow of the pressure washers u need one with a 2 orifice size for the small washers and the pressure will increase with the 40 degree

Excellent review wished I saw this before I bought this model a year ago. Used it once this year on the car and worked great. Next time to tackle the pollen on the deck and porches and the pressure is enough to water flowers. Just trying to find somebody that works on these is impossible. Home Depot sells and offer no service or were you can get service. Ryobi says to try this place 55 miles away but call first as they may not service your particular tool... Tomorrow I call and if I am lucky I get to drive 110 miles to drop off and another 110 miles to pick up. Worst problem is I just found out a neighbor services Greenworks 10 miles away. Before it went bad I purchased a $500 40V lawn mower and not feeling good about it.

In my opinion, the devate over a brushed versus a brushless motor when it comes to a power washer is a bit moot, since either will outlast the pump.

Tips have different orifice sizes. That 40 degree tip must have a much larger 3.0mm orifice. The tip spread is irrelevant.

How does the electric 2300 PSI pressure washer compare to a 3100 PSI or 3300 PSI gasoline pressure washer to clean paver driveways? I’m used to the power of a 3100 PSI gasoline pressure washer I owned before moving. Now, I need to buy a pressure washer again. Not dealing with gasoline would be nice. But I don’t want to suffer with a weak pressure washer.

Generally going to be much less powerful than a gas unit

@@aaronstestlab That’s what I was guessing. That after getting used to a Simpson 3100 PSI gasoline pressure washer, that I would be disappointed with the weaker power of an electric pressure washer.

Does this pressure washer take 3/8 inch hose or 1/4 inch house. I was going to buy a longer hose for the unit
@aaronstestlab
@aaronstestlab 3 жыл бұрын
Hose size doesn’t really matter so long as it has an M22-14 fitting on the end. You could also easily adapt it to a 3/8 quick disconnect.

@@aaronstestlab so this hose would work or would I need to buy extra stuff for it to work. www.homedepot.com/p/Flexzilla-3-8-in-x-50-ft-4200-PSI-Pressure-Washer-Hose-with-Quick-Connect-Fittings-HFZPW426050Q/316010227

I think you are using the wrong 40 degree tip, thus the reason of pressure drop.
@Bill-N-Carolina

I’m sorry but this was a flawed test. What size orifice was the 40 degree tip? That matters for PSI way more than degree. Put a 2.0 or a 2.5 orifice 40 degree on the Ryobi and you’ll get around 1000-1200 PSI which is ideal for vehicle detailing. I’m willing to bet yours is a 3.0 or higher.
