The folding light not being hybrid is still criminal. The basic drill isn't cheap enough to justify itself.

That is a bummer, for sure. But I think part of the problem is how Ryobi's hybrid tools are typically constructed, with an already-certified, off-the-shelf "wall wart" simply integrated inside the casing. This is cheap and convenient for Ryobi, but unfortunately creates additional bulk that some tools don't really have the volume to spare. This light's small body (where the battery mounts) is a good example of that.

Agree on the drill. One could just pick up a hyper tough drill kit from walmart (the one with the knock off m12 platform).

@@JAERepair feels like they're attempting a low entry cost point to the one plus platform but miss the mark that itll never compete with garbage like hyper tough

If the bucket vacuume can be used for water, that would be great for plumbing, would save time draining the sink or bathtub. Would make it faster to rod out.

On my original light, I replaced the adjustment "knob" to unfold the light, with a easier to use knob set up. I bought the parts at the local hardware store. Was a simple and cheap mod or fix. I have several of the Ryobi vac's but the bucket vac will be a must have for me. Thanks!

Ryobi is the best overall for the average homeowner and semi professional. No other tool manufacturer can match the 300+, one battery concept. 20 years ago when they came up with this concept the other tool manufacturers were still making tools with different battery platforms and laughed at Ryobi. It’s only recently that other companies such as Milwaukee and DeWalt have started to make tools for the general public. One example, is the 1/2 inch belt sander. Ryobi came out with it and I purchased it quickly. It took Milwaukee over a year to copy it and their model was electric and cost almost twice as much. I clean and maintain my Ryobi tool and every one of them are still in working order after 20 years. And yet the “professional” crowd still criticizes people who own Ryobi.

I just bought that little Ryobi shop vac when it hit $40 at HD. It's a nice little portable machine, but that bucket vac got me thinkin' I need to spend some more money... maybe.

The improvement to the folding light it pretty nice, I have 3 different Ryobi lights and they all live up to expectations and even surpassed them. The cordless bucket vacuum is a good idea but Ryobi needs to stop making brushed vacuums and shift over to brushless, vacuums under load eat through the batteries pretty fast.

That bucket top vac has my attention... I've been eyeballing the Swiftclean spot cleaner but at $169 I just can't pull the trigger 😬 Instead, I've been toying around with the idea of trying a bucket-top vac with a carpet attachment and just spraying soap with Ryobi's cordless chemical sprayer ha.

I cut the bottom off a old broke ryobi drill then mounted and wired it into my rc car Slapped in a 18 volt batt in and It worked great!! Awesome power and speed, lasted a long time too looks funny though. Ryobi needs to get together with Traxxas and colab.

The drill is a pass. For a bit more, you can get the compact brushless that blows it away. I have the original light that I can honestly say I've never considered to be "not bright enough" but I guess different hooks could be good. The bucket vac is a win. I'll be getting one of those.

I think the drill was thrown out there as a last minute option to get a 299 tool count crossed over to the 300 count threshold.

@@rudyschwab7709 I can't believe I'm saying this but I think I'd rather see yet another bluetooth speaker to get the count up. That drill is just a disappointment waiting to happen. It gives people something else to point to and say "Ryobi is crap. I threw mine out and bought [insert brand] instead."

I think you meant "rubber coated metal hook" even though you said it backwards. Light seems really useful. I was hoping they would improve their batteries which are heavy, weighted to the back of the tool in many cases and seem to die rather quickly (I mean no longer charge) for the price point.

I just hope they fixed the piece-of-crap hinge on the workbench light. I love that light to death, other than that. I have a couple, and they've both broken (both electrically and physically, two different failures each, on BOTH lights) and been replaced under warranty. It's a very poor design, and there's little doubt that my replacements will also break down with the passage of a little time and use.

TBH the bucket vac doesn't really seem like it's more powerful than every bucket vac, does it? The $30 Bucket Head vac at the Depot claims "1.75hp" and says it's 45 CFM and apparently has only a 4A motor (around 480W @ 120V) . No IOW rating is given. It's def. a bit weak but the Ryobi is not a huge lot better: The Ryobi claims the same 45 CFM and states 32 IOW. Motor current of course is not given as a battery tool but but a 4Ah battery is said to last 12 minutes so that's about 20A draw at 18V, equal to about 360W. Let's also note that like any cordless vac or blower it goes through battery like no tomorrow. Cordless is nice but 4Ah in 12mins not so much--but, there's no way around that, these are high-current devices. However the Project Source bucket top vac. at Blowe's claims to be "2HP" and is an 8A motor (2x the power of the Bucket Head, 960W), and also claims *55* CFM and *38* IOW. These are all just ratings of course but an 8A motor is still an 8A motor--this thing should be much better than the one from the Depot and I'm thinking it has to be better than the Ryobi. Finally there's the Hyper Tough at Walmart. This one also claims "2HP" and is similarly an 8A motor, but doesn't give specs on airflow (CFM) and suction (IOW). However it seems like it should be very similar to the Blowe's model. Of course the Blowe's and Walmart ones are corded but there's no need to worry about short run times, having multiple batteries ready to go, and they cost $35 and $26 respectively...compared to the Ryobi at $60. Not saying the Ryobi is not worth buying but I'd really have to see some real-world testing to believe the claim that it's the most powerful one out there.

Too much money for the Ryobi bucket head vacuum. The 1-gallon Ryobi vacuum is more powerful than the bucket head vacuum. Also, the bucket head vacuum comes with a crappy hose and no "real" filter, just a paper bag. Plus, if you don't already have a bucket, that's another $5. I'd recommend waiting for it to go on sale.

$60 for a one speed 0-600 rpm drill?! Why would you pitch something so useless and overpriced? That's too fast to screw and too slow to drill. For $90 I got a Ryobi One+HP drill and impact driver brushless motor combo with two batteries and a charger. The drill is 0-450/0-1700 rpm. Yeah, I got it on Black Friday, but that's a much better deal for something infinitely more useful. Regular price was $179.99.
