to answer your question if they pre-record any sounds, technically no; however, with midi controllers and extra devices they can pre-program a specific sequence so that when they trigger the sound with a simple kick it creates an entire sequence immediately. So essentially they can pre-program the pattern of the sound but they must trigger the sound live.

Nothing should be pre-programmed this is why it's a problem when you compare between a device that allows you pre-programe patterns and a device like the rc-505 mk1 where you have to make patterns layer by layer live. Either they make changes to the rules in the future and they limit/don't allow the pre-programe function on all devices that support it or they make separate categories. The best solution would be to make two different categories, one for rc-505 mk1 vs rc-505 mk1 and one for multiple different devices (including rc-505 mk2 even if it's a single device it has features over mk1 that only other devices have like step sequencer, creating and saving patterns on-the-go, making crazy automated modulations, mark back function. . .). If these are separate than there is no problem anymore, no one has advantage over anyone and than guys with more advanced devices can go all out crazy how much they want :))

@@BlackBullPistol I much preferred the battles when it was just 1 machine as well. Obviously they can make better sounding tracks now but the saro battles in 2017 won’t be done again and they were much more enjoyable to watch for me

The MK2 and I think some second devices have sequencers where they can pre-input a melody and then just record a base sound quickly and have it automatically play the melody they put in before. So it’s all technically recorded live, but the devices can build so much off the simplest sounds now.

Btw Inkie is a frosty fanboy, since the KBB happened, I remember he gave him 98 or 99 pts out of 100, not so sure, that was to his 2nd round in this battle, the highest score a looper has ever got if I'm not mistaken

I believe they are not allowed to have anything pre recorded. They will have lots of effects and sequences set up on their machines though so all they have to do is input a small vocal like an "ohh" or "ahh" or whatever and then the machine output something cool. It seems like the way a lot of looping is going now. Oh and yeah, silent recording is a big thing these days too so where you would have heard loopers inputting all their drums and sounds you may or may not hear that now. Oh btw, shoutout to you for taking on board how to pronounce Cillian Murphy. That was me and I didn't have any intentions of being rude lol

There's a way to silently record on the loop station, Chezame is one of the people who discovered this and started it. I'm a secondary source obviously, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Frosty's Fall routine had some timing issues, but not enough to lose major points. Somehow he made it sound better than his KBB round, straight mastermind. Rythmind had too long of a buildup and not enough drops. Frosty deserved this win and I'm glad he wasn't robbed.

they do a ton of sound designing and programming before coming/having the rounds done, with the extra device he uses especially, all it takes is a trigger so say he does a easy spit snare the trigger gets these crazy sounds going, and then he silent records them so its quick and easy but hits hard when they reveal the silent record. some say no skill, no longer vocal looping, but still incredibly impressive

I really want a new category for the loop station this one will feature other types of devices such as what frosty is using so it would be fair because this battle had some unfairness because rythmind only used the loop station to do all of the sounds while frosty used 2 other devices to compliment the loop station and have the advantage

@@codylevesque5200 There's nothing weird about it, Frosty dropped one of the craziest rounds in GBB. If you think about it, a lot of iconic battles people remember because of 1 or 2 rounds, there's never 4 mindblowingly good rounds.
