Could you do a clock to clock comparison for example both a 4.6. or 4.8ghz to check how big is the difference that the cache size really makes?

None basically, the 5700G is a monolithic chip like intel cpus, 5800x is a chiplet, as a result needs double the cache to perform like a monolithic chip with half the cache. had the 5700G been running at 5800x clocks performance would be actually in favor on the 5700G. Unfortunately thats impossible, 5700G cores dont quite perform like zen 3 cores, 5700G cpus need more voltage per given frequency and as a result youre never going to hit 5800x clocks on one of those.

5700G wins for me. In my country it costs 4% to 10% less than 5800x with that 4% difference I could buy a mouse and with 10% I could buy a Mouse+Keyboard combo. The power consumption is 40% lower on the 5700G but only 15% lower FPS which is still playable and on a card lower than 3080 the difference is negligible.

plus , yuo HAVE to undervolt. its a must with these ryzen chips. they can handle the undervolt. when i got my 5600x i saw temps of 80 degrees C. undervolted it and now it gets max 62/63 degrees C. undervolt it

For Ryzen 7 5700G. In these tests: G.PWR 303 w max. + C.PWR 72 w max = 375 w. Let's average the value up to 400 w. Other components are approximately 100 watts. Why do I need Power Supply 850W?

A 5800X undervolted should be more power efficient. The 5800X should have better binning and more cache. A lot of power draw comes from pushing that last 5% or so in frequency. Alternatively, you can activate eco mode to limit the power draw to about 65W with a small performance loss in gaming.

I think 5700G is much better in efficiency Plus you have Integrated GPU. CPU power used 50-60% more on 5800x, but only 15-20fps (10% average) increase in performance

@@alouisschafer7212 it also draws more power at 105w while the 5700X/G is only at 65w. But the knowledge of undervolting can fix that. I'm glad I learned about it now my 5900X isn't drawing more power than it needs to while all cores are clocked at 4.6ghz staying under 51c while gaming, I sometimes disable 2 of my cores to emulate the 5800X since 8c/16t seems to be the usual sweet spot for gaming right now.

@@kryo1376 Yeah although the performance is very similar with a 3080 it still bums me out that the guy at Micro Center failed to mention that it uses PCIe gen 3 instead of 4 when I was buying a Ryzen CPU :( at least the 5700G is a lot more power efficient and has integrated graphics for if my GPU fails

The resources are split between cpu and igpu. Considering the current gpu situation you can comfortably game on 5700g until 1-2 years later u can get a gpu that doesnt cost 2x msrp

I would go with ryzen 7 5700g because it have integrated graphics which is pretty good so if gpu is expensive and i have to wait i would have back up 2nd because its taking 30-40 watt less power electricity is so expensive in my country

Does this really make sense to compare a 65W CPU (~ 4500MHz) with a 105W CPU (~ 4850MHz). It would be more interesting to work out the differences in the maximum possible RAM clock, influence of cache size, latency and cooling comparison between chiplet and monolith design.

Well they're not the same CPU. They have different specs most notably the 5700g is clocked at a lower speed.

the 5700G is an APU with intergrated graphics and the 5800x is just a CPU. With ryzen the APU counterparts usually have lower clock speeds and cache while keeping the same IPC. in this case Zen 3

@@WorisonTV it's cheaper but not by any means cheap it's still a $300+ chip lmao, personally I've seen people get 30+ frames on the 5800 but Zen 3 alone is leagues above Zen 2 so I mean. Any 5000 series chip offer a really nice IPC

Assuming that the cores are identical which would be logical since its all the Zen 3 family its just due to the higher clockspeed of the 5800X. The 5700X and 5800X are already the same CPU just one clocks better so I think the 5700G also has the same cores or is at least very similar.

Currently running the 5700G @4.8Ghz and its giving me dn. Ear same FPS as the 5800X did that I flashed the motherboard with. It's also cheaper so this is one of those situations where if your familiar with overclocking definetly worth it.

You’re missing the point of the 5700g. You’re not buying a 5700g as a cpu, you’re buying it as an apu for its integrated graphics which are significantly better than Intel’s igpus and even as good as some cheapo Nvidia dgpus such as the gt 1030.

but if your gpu dies your bricked till you get a replacement, and the power draw and heat require better cooling. i'm lookin to build from scratch though... of course the g only supports pcie3 so if my upgrade path was to get a card that supported pcie4 i'd have to replace the chip....

G-series is not the play. You should buy 5800x and a low end discrete GPU like 750ti or GT 1030 and when GPU availability comes at normal buy a GPU. These G series are the worst line because at the end of the day even after months you gonna buy GPU so you iGPU will be waste of silicon.

Also 5800x plus GT 1030 is $500 atleast. Does an extra $150 justify a small FPS boost? Especially considering the fact that you won't notice an FPS difference once you're above 120fps

@@rebelprime it does because those benchmarks are actually garbage, the game sample size is so low and they don't show games where there's a difference between the 2 cpus, you can always refund the 1030 to amazon before 2 years after the purchase and why do you need to lie about seeing more than 120fps?

Yeah I would like to see the difference for lower quality graphics on the IGPU. The IGPU should be faster and use less electricity for older applications that support it. However the cache is smaller....
