In this episode of Shooting & Country TV, Gary Chillingworth takes a walk around Maldon and District airgun club and look at some of the shots that you may be asked to take on a modern HFT course.
He also shows you a few tips and tricks to hep you get the best score on your HFT round. If you want to find out what HFT is, what a typical HFT course is like, and what distance/type of shots you may be asked to take, you're in the right place!

We get the opportunity to shoot the HFT course solo or with whom ever you like at our range, I usually do just that, solo or with a mate, and I'm happy to do that, I shoot a HW 110 .177, I'm averaging around the 40 points mark, again I'm happy, but would like to get in the 50's,,this video is a good help to me as in trying different positions & tactics,, cheeyars 👍🏻, good advice again Mr Chillingworth 😉

Excellent vid Gary ,, my Mrs watched it with interest , as the next time we go to the range , and my son comes with us , she's doing the HFT course with him , he does it every time he comes , and Mrs wants to give it a bash ... im sticking to the target & spinner range .. all this is after the obligatory full English in the club house ... again ... Excellent vid

Great video. No apologies necessary, you are in good company. I went out in freezing temps yesterday to chrono 10 shots. I was in a hurry and forgot to hit "Start" on the app. Then I had to do it again and typed in the title wrong. Title wasn't important but I wanted to save the data as if intelligent.

Hi Gary, I hear you mention several times, a 'routine' you go through as you're about to shoot? Your pre shoot checks? I'm trying to work out a system or drill. What is your drill? I'd love to know. Thanks for yet another brilliant vid, you've got me into this sport and i love it.

Very well made video and put together brilliant, we need more content like this to get people into HFT and also into the sport of airguns, could you tell me of any HFT please in the North West you may know of all the clubs i have seen online seem to olny be on a Sunday morning and know over day in the week where you can just go and shoot HFT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND VIDEOS

Hiya good video for someone who has never done HFT what sort of scope are you using and what sort of scopes should be looked for if I want to use the outfit for hunting and getting into HFT cos there's so much to choose from with scopes on the market

Part 7 , you should never hold or rest the barrel of any gun on anything !! It will change your point of impact especially with a floating barrel, this is very important with pcp airguns Good informative show and keep up the good work 👍👍👍

Hiya, Can i ask why you have the bipod on the wrong way round. Fitting it this was you cannot "load" the bipod when takin a shot, and run the risk of it folding back.

Hi Callum, I fitted the Bi-pod as per the fitting instructions, if I fitted it the other way round it would stick out in front of the rifle. I have never had a problem with putting load on it and due to my love of buns, I have a bit of load at the moment. I will look into it though, just in case I have screwed up. Gary

Great video, having just started hft I’m trying to learn as much as possible, this series you’re doing is one of the most informative I’ve found and well worth a subs to the channel. I also like the look of the hamster fitted to your hw100, did it require extra drilling, or does it fit on existing retention bolts? I’d also be interested in getting one, how do I get in touch via email to you please?

@@garychillingworth I actually googled best air rifle and bought yet another one . Far I can't get a grouping less than 8 inches. As far as type I don't care as long as I can hit a varmint lol

That's 8 inches at about 25 yards . For me that's terrible.

At 25 yards you should be under 10mm for a 5 shot group even with a springer. Are you using a scope?
